  1. Oops forgot to fix my ticker...
  2. It seems easier to get more calories in once you get to the stage 5 diet (regular foods). I'm having trouble staying at 800. Regular foods have more calories. I'm concerned also that I am losing weight so slowly because my body is in "starvation mode." I'm only a month out, and I've lost 20 pounds, but it is now coming off very slowly. Wendy
  3. Hi Everyone. I am looking for buddies in good ol' New England, or more specifically, NE MA. Anyone around? HMMM? :-) Wendy

Did Lyssa explain how to eat? I know it's hard to do with the Binge Eating Disorder. Let's see... some things that have helped me... Eating Protein first; it's more filling than other foods. Put utensils down between bites. Savor the bite of food. Have you heard of mindfulness? Taste the food, feel the texture, smell it... ENJOY it. One thing we, as binge eaters, do is we inhale our food, not even tasting it. It will slow you down to eat mindfully, which you will find more on in the Kindle book you bought. PAUSE before eating. Ask yourself, "Am I hungry?" and then use the chart that I think is in the book to rate your hunger. Decide what you will eat, how much, and how you will eat it. Oh Keli, there is so much good stuff in the book you bought! It will set you free! Don't worry if it takes a while to digest it and apply it to your life. That's normal. You CAN do this! I am behind you, also! Wendy

How long have you been trying to lose? Have you seen the dietician, Lyssa, yet? What I do is I eat on 8" plates and use baby utensils. I know it sounds silly, but it looks like more food and it slows down my eating. If you have some money, go to amihungry.com and buy Love what you eat eat what you love for binge eater's. Or better yet, if you have a kindle, go to Amazon and get it for your Kindle more cheaply. It's an EXCELLENT resource and helps a lot. It's worth the money!

Hi there, I think you can send private messages through the top of the page where the little envelope is, I am not sure. Yeah it's hard to lose weight but it can be done! Where are you going for your WLS treatment? I know it isn't done yet, but where was your testing done? I can give you lots of ideas. I will try to PM you.

Hi Kellye! I am from Haverhill. I have a surgery date of 8/31/15. I am excited and nervous! I still need to lose a little weight, like, 9 poounds. It would be nice to get to know you, since we live so close together. What do you think? Wendy
  12. Does he have a supportive nature? Please don't kick yourself for not being successful on your diet. If you were, you wouldn't be here, and you are just like the rest of us. DIet after diet after diet! We need this tool in order to be successful! Wendy

Rose, They actually chose her for me. I didn't know all the docs, so I just went with the one they suggested. I go to Holy Family Hospital, and will have the surgery elsewhere, but I forget where. Maybe we will be in the same hospital! Wendy

That's wonderful! I will be done with my pre-op testing soon, too. I think I make an appointment with my surgeon on the 13th of February or so! I am so excited. Although I just quit smoking today, so I have to wait 8 weeks before surgery.

Great! I guess there aren't many people around me, but my fellow Massachusettsians are a great start! Do you know when you are having your surgery done?

    I caved today.

You are being too hard on yourself. Everyone slips up at one time or another! Maybe the shake thing is too much (unless your doc told you to do it) and you need more to eat in a day. I don't know. But are you taking Vitamins with your liquid diet? I worry about your health. My doctor will just put me on a liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery if I don't lose 5% of my body weight. Wendy
  18. My dietician said 8 weeks before surgery, you have to quit. I am on the patch, and today if my first day as a non-smoker. I am doing fine. Remember, you want to be healthier, and smoking is not healthy at all. As some said, use the surgery as motivation to quit. Wendy
  19. Yeah, this surgery is HARDER than weight loss the regular way. You have to change your whole life! It is CERTAINLY NOT the easy way out. He is definitely misinformed. Wendy
  20. Your tastes change after surgery? Well, then, the sample thing is a great idea! Thank you.

When did you get your surgery? It must feel good to be under 300!

    Looks like April for me

I may be scheduled in April, also. I am not certain, either, but it seems right. Wendy
