Oops wrong post... hehehe.

Hi everyone! I introduced myself in the wrong place, lol! So here I am. My name is Wendy and I am 42 years old. I am between 317 and 320 pounds right now. I don't have a surgery date yet, but I have a four hour appointment next Thursday, the 16th of August. I will be seeing the psychologist, the Nurse Practitioner, and the dietician. I am on Medicare and Medicaid, so I will probably have to lose between 25 and 30 pounds before I can have the surgery. I am really looking forward to this journey! Thanks for reading

It says Edit Signature, but I can't do anything with it.

I'm Insulin Resistant and PSOC, but under 100lbs.

This is an actual lapband surgery, so if you don't like blood or things like this make you sick, don't watch it. -
Sleep apnea!! Diabetic!!Any advice!?!?
WendyMay replied to pincham2brn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow, you all are making me more and more anxious to get this done. I know I won't be able to take 90 units of Levemir twice a day with Humalog 34 units + sliding scale while eating so little! Maybe I will get off the insulin and even the Metformin (1000 mg twice a day) eventually. And then there's my problem with triglycerides. I have so many weight-related ailments, it's not funny. But I can see into the future now with hope! I may be able to get off a bunch of meds, actually. Geez, drinking water all the time, exercising, and eating well is SO worth these possibilities! However, I don't think I can do it without the lapband. I need that tool in my kit. I can't do it alone! I go to OA online, and so far, it hasn't changed a thing. But once I get my lapband, it will! OH I CAN'T WAIT! Wendy -
Do you think it is harder for a diabetic to lose weight?
WendyMay replied to SueSue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am replying to the 2nd post by Kat817: Dear Kat, Honestly, I am diabetic and I eat sugar and greasy foods wayyy to often. In fact, many people don't have their diabetes under control. I think we may lose weight more slowly, but I am pretty sure that is not the reason why. I will ask my endocrinologist and get back to all of you on Thursday. Wendy -
Wow, thanks so much! How did you make your signature colorful? Wendy
-
AWESOME! Thank you so much. Your help and info is very much appreciated.

Welcome! I have found this site to be a great support and lots of info! Hope you do too.

Hi ddrobins! Thanks a lot! How long have you had your band?
-
Hi Jim. Thanks for the kind welcome and well-wishes! I am getting mine done through the Lahey Clinic Hospital Center of Excellence.
-
Hi cfmom, I am not doubting you, but are you sure of that? I am going to a Center of Excellence. I have had the same PCP for 6 years or more. She wants me to have the surgery, and she weighs me once a month. I hope you are right about the Medicare thing. That would really make my day!

What Will It Cost Me To Get Weight Loss Surgery?
WendyMay replied to Alex Brecher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had the surgery yet, but financially, it will cost me nothing. Physically, my Type II diabetes will get better or disappear, my back and knee pain will improve, my GERD will improve or go away (I have a hiatal hernia), my sleep apnea will go away, my fibromyalgia will hurt less, I will lose the metabolic disorder and Pickwickian syndrome, and much, much more. My life will change dramatically, with eating, health, exercise, and looks. I will be able to walk without a walker... A fact that makes it worth it all by itself! I cannot wait to start my journey! -
I am fat because I was abused and I was trying to get the men off me, so to speak. I then got addicted to food because it made me feel better. I am also addicted to shopping. Both food and new things were how the abusers "rewarded" me.

Question Question Question :)

This is all good information. Thanks for replying to Anali. I now understand this better. -
Thanks, all, for replying. I think I'm gonna like it here. )

HI EVERYONE! My name is Wendy and I am 42 years old. I am going to a four-hour appointment at Lahey this coming Thursday (the 16th of August) at 12:30 PM, where I see the nutritionist, psychologist, and Nurse Practitioner. I am really looking forward to this appointment. I started going through this process a year and a half ago, and decided against it. Now, I am sure I want it done. My question is, do the doctors still make you lose a certain amount of weight before surgery by dieting, or by the liquid diet you are all talking about? Thanks, Wendy
-
Thank you both. I was wondering if perhaps it would go away as I lose weight and I might need to stop insulin while I am losing weight because, otherwise, my sugar might get too low. I am sure the doctors will address that with me. I can also talk to my endocrinologist about it. Anyone else have experiences with diabetes and your lapband surgery? Wendy
-
WOW, Honk. Where are you from? How did you lose 50 pounds? My nurse practitioner is named Sarah, I think. Maybe we can keep in contact. Wendy
