My sister stalled in the 80lb loss area for 2 years. Exercised, ate her reg meals that she did to lose the weight. A month ago she saw infomercial on 7 things to NEVER eat. It's no peanuts, dairy, soy, corn etc. I think she's living on all the fruit, meat and salad she wants, and has lost 16 more lbs in a month. You can google it.

I'm 10 weeks po and haven't had a fill yet for fear of slippage. I'm down 36 lbs and have 30 to go. I haven't quite figured out how the band works. From morning to late afternoon I can't hold much food, maybe a cup at the most, or 1/4 of Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, then at night it feels like I could eat a full meal. I've never tested how much I could eat, but scares me that I don't have band restriction at night. Does it sound like I need a fill?

Dr. Almanza said some people never need a fill. I was hoping I might be one. -

I was banded 8/11 and down 30 lbs, I weigh weekly and this is first week I didn't lose any. :-( freaking out, fearful and would go get a fill right now if I could. Panic stricken -
I was told carbonated drinks stretch your pouch. Any thoughts on that? I miss bubbles so much and 4 weeks post op.

Thank you all for sharing. Was hoping it was a myth. I too won't risk it. I was self pay in mexico and do not have nutritionist. You get what you pay for I suppose. So I'm grateful for this forum. -
Sweet Taste In Mouth All The Time?
FernandinaGin posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 28 days post op, and since about the 3rd day I taste sweet all the time as if I just ate candy. Very strange since I've avoided sugar all together. Anyone else experience this or ever heard of it? -
Hi there! I'm 28 days post op. I've lost 25lbs already and don't believe I'm going to need my first fill any time soon. I'm a "cruncher" ice, nuts, croutons etc... So even the mushy stuff got old quickly. Now when I need to crunch something, I take a bag of pork rinds and sprinkle in 1 pk Splenda with cinnamon and shake it up like popcorn. I can never eat more than 3 so even tho the fat to cal ratio is not ideal it's very few calories and really satisfies. Not that I could or want to, but even if I ate entire bag, that would only be 320 calories. :-)

6 Days Post Op
FernandinaGin replied to suzannelturner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello ST, I'm 5 days post op, and first couple days home I had a couple of panic attacks when my trigger to feed my face arouse and I realized I couldn't eat. Totally freaked, even tried to eat, but wouldn't go down. Finally calmed myself, and realized "THAT IS WHY!" I got the band, to save me from myself, and it stood the test. If I had been able to eat in my panic, it would all be for nothing. I decided to name my band my lil MP, for my protector. I feel respect for the tool and doing well on the liquids with cottage cheese and I'm down 12 lbs. Plz don't lose faith. You can do this! :-) -

Had Surgery Alone In Mexico?
FernandinaGin replied to BeeBlueHeron's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah, my biggest fear was blowing the 3 day liquid pre op diet and having to cancel surgery. I didn't realize how often I eat unconsciously. I'm not a gum chewer, so unless I was drinking my meals I kept sugarless gum in my mouth, then when I'd grab something (food) to stick in my mouth I had to remember why on earth I was chewing gum. Sounds silly but it worked. -

72 hours post op and I'm back at work. Did a 14 hour shift yesterday, prob a little much, but feel great. Still having gas which is uncomfortable, but no pain meds, not even Advil. I've felt hungry a couple of times and feel like I could eat just a small amount of solid food, until I try it. Lol I guess the liquid, then mushie, then food order is for a good reason. Sugar free gum is my best friend right now. I'm down 9lbs in 7 days, since the beginning of my 3day pre op liquid diet. :-) -

There are 4 of us in van headed to Dr Almanza. I don't feel alone at all. These ladies are awesome and we have much in common, and one husband here to support us. 2 bands, 2 sleeves. We arrive in 45 mins. I'll keep you posted. -
I'm getting banded by dr. Almanza tomorrow and they offered to remove gallbladder for a minimal fee. I'm private pay so I'm thinking it's a good deal. Any suggestions?
