July Sleevers---How Much Have You Lost?
marleamay replied to polican's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved July 27th, and down 40 pounds. Two weeks after my surgery I started working out at my gym again. I go 5 days a week, 3 days I do weights and dance aerobics, and the other 2 days I do Zumba. My surgeon said the scale will show a slower weight loss as I am building muscle which weighs more than fat, but that I will be happier with the results in the long run since I'm toning while losing. -
You are fine. My surgeon had me eating scrambled eggs and a few bites of a hamburger two days after surgery. He and his partner have done more sleeves than any other surgeon, and they do to require a liquid phase, puréed phase, etc. all they ask is that I get my protein in first, and of course keep the other foods I eat healthy as well. Minimize carbs, sugars, etc. I have been eating solids since leaving the hospital. As long as you really chew your food, and eat slowly, it's fine. I'm not telling you to disregard your surgeons instructions, just wanted to assure you that you're not doing anything wrong. I was stressing out right after surgery, wondering if I was doing something wrong, however after two follow up visits with my surgeon, and being reassured by him that I am doing fine, I have relaxed a lot. And it's probably a good thing bananas don't agree with your new sleeve.....they are high in carbs......80 to 90 carbs is what my surgeon says. Good luck, and try not to worry too much. Each person is different and has different experiences with what they can and can't eat. To quote my surgeon, " try it, and if it works, great.....if not don't do it again". This was regarding trying different foods as well as starting an exercise program.

My Suggestion-Stop The Obsessing. Rules Are Meant To Be Broken
marleamay replied to NJSleeveboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Neilsleeve, love your post!! I completely agree with what you wrote. I am two months post-op, and have had no problems since surgery. My surgeon and his partner started me on solids in the hospital......eggs for breakfast, hamburger for lunch. Of course, they said to test it out, see how it goes down, and if no problems, I was free to eat solids as tolerated immediately....proteins of course. I have done very well eating solids right away, and am down nearly 40 pounds. Both of these surgeons are very experienced bariatric surgeons. Anyway, just wanted to say, your post made me smile.....you pretty much wrote what my surgeon has been saying the whole time. -
This Is Going A Little Too Well!

Looking for help as I am concerned about how much I am able to eat already. I had my surgery 9 days ago, and for the past few days, I seem to be able to eat more bites than I should. I was told to quit eating when I get an uncomfortable feeling, and if I don't stop at that point I would vomit. I have quit when I feel uncomfortable, but today, I ate 7 or 8 bites of scrambled eggs, and did not get that feeling. I'm worried something may be wrong, as everyone else seems to be able to take only 3 or 4 bites in the first month. Anyone else experience this, or have any thoughts? Thanks.
