    Is anyone sorry?

I was petrified to have the surgery, mainly being put under and not waking up. Then once I made It through that I was afraid leaks. But now being 3 months out and down a total of 80lbs (48 postop). I wouldn't trade it for anything and wish I had done it years ago. Making healthy choices are so much easier now bc i get full and font have that empty feeling that I always had preop. As far as catheters my Dr doesn't use them but I did have one with my c section. I don't remember it bothering me at all. Did you ask your surgeon if they use them? My Dr said the surgery is really so quick that there is no reason for it. Good luck to you with everything.

    ketogenX pre-op died

I had to use Bariatric advantage shakes for my preop. There are recipes on their website to use. I was allowed to make a couple with diet colas as long as you ran it through the blender. You can use fruits and seeds too but again it needs to be run through the blender. That was per my drs instructions. Definitely go to the Bariatric advantage website and do a quick search on recipes. One of my favorites was one someone else gave me. 8oz milk, whatever you serving size of for your shakes. Mine was 2 scoops. Use vanilla. 1/4c pumpkin pie filling, cinnamon, nutmeg and all spice to taste. 3 ice cubes and blend away. It was tasty and hid the shake flavor fairly well.

    Down 80lbs!

Thanks all! I feel so much better physically, mentally, everywhere. This is the best decision I ever made for myself. The fat girl inside of me still wishes I could pig out! But when I got to go sledding with my daughter this year... That was worth everything I've been through.

How much weight did you loose pre-op?

Between what I did on my own and my 2 week liquid diet I lost 32 total prior to surgery. 15 of that was while on the 2 week liquid.

    Just One More Day...

I watched videos all the time on surgery. I wanted to be really knowledgeable on what was going to take place. I thought it was very interesting! Good luck to you guys!

    Any spider sleevers out there?

Not sure what type of instruments they used but I had single site sleeve and virtually no pain afterwards. Definitely chalking it uo too the single incision.

    All of my December sleevers...

Hi all! Everyone is doing great! I just had my 3 month Anniversary on March 10. Down a total of 75.8, 43.8 of that since surgery. Overall feeling very well. I was able to get sledding with my 2 year old this year. I have a collar bone and hop bones (who knew? ). My appetite is definitely back. Wish I was a sleevers who didn't get hungry or who's some foods didn't agree with anymore. I haven't had a thing yet thay "chewie" doesn't like. Which I guess isn't bad but mentally it makes it hard for me bc i know I can still have it. I have my 3 month f/u this Friday. I knoe they are going to say I'm losing slow but I honestly don't care. I'm done almost 44lbs in 3 months. Not too shabby .

    Vitamin D Deficiency

I don't know that it's directly related to weight loss/gain. But a low vitamin d level is linked to many illnesses including ms and many cancers.

    No Drinking with Meals!

You will get used to it. And if you try it and get chest or discomfort that will be a quick reminder not to do it again. Like others have said I just don't bring a drink to the table and that has helped a lot. On a side note. Double check that Vitamin E is ok to take prior to surgery. Someone once told me that it thins your blood. Good luck!

I cheated by drinking chicken broth.... who knew?

Hmm I wonder why? I could have clear broths. Maybe the sodium? I used kitchen basics brand bc it was the lowest sodium I could find. Good luck!
  17. This is my take on the whole thing. The bougie size is strictly a tool to help guide the doctors in stapling your stomach. In the end the size difference bt a 32f and a 40f is very minimal. What also needs to be taken into consideration (imo) is a Dr can use a 40f and staple right snug up against the bougie or he can use a 32f and staple a few millimeters away. In essence still creating a larger than 32f stomach. Meaning that depending on the Dr techniques the bougie size really do want matter when your talking 32-40. I haven't read any drs using larger than a 40f. Then there is also the length of a stomach. From the research I've done everyone's stomachs are different lengths. So someone with a shorter stomach and using a 32f will hold less volume than a longer 32f stomach. Something to keep in mind. Here's a few links I found along the way. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/40624-bougie-size-and-amount-of-weight-to-lose-is-there-a-relationship/ http://m.obesityhelp.com/member/carmelita/blog/2011/03/31/-2/ Not sure if this helps but that's my take on the subject. I was sleeved on 12/10 with a 40f and so far all is great! Good luck to you. Also I'm learning why slider foods are called sliders. If you don't follow the diet and do not eat Protein first you will be able to eat a lot more than you think.

    Please be honest

For me pain was nonexistent. I had single site so not sure if that played a role. But I also had no pain with my c section in 2010.... Must be a freak of sorts

    All of my December sleevers...

Everyone is doing great! Congrats. My starting weight: 332 Day of surgery: 300 Current weight: 258.5 A total of 72.2, 41.5 since surgery on 12/10. Definitely feel like a alow loser compared to some but I'm learning to accept my journey as my own and not compare. When have I ever lost 72lbs! Let alone 41 in 3 months!

    Menstrual Cycle

Call the hospital and ask. I would want to know bc they make you take off all your clothes when you put the gown on. And I don't know if you csn use a tampon. Just call

    All of my December sleevers...

Hi all! I was sleeved 12/10. The start of my journey I was 332. Day of surgery 300 Today I'm 260! Down a total of 71lbs (40 of that since surgery). Overall i think I'm doing great. Some days are better than others. Some days I have trouble getting all my fluids in. But I always get my protein and vitamins in. The last 8 days I was on a business trip to Atlanta. A couple days we had to eat out. Went to steak and shake one day on our way to the client and I got a chees burger with no mayo and I took off the top bun. I ate just a little more than half. 2 other times we ate at a bbq place. And again I tried to pick the healthiest options. Even with that though 6 months ago I would of easily eaten a double cheeseburger meal with a large fry and a large coke. That day I had half of a single with no top bun. So it's definitely an improvement! And any time I can lose 71lbs I'll take it

    Had my first sneeze

Did your hospital give you a bear or other stuffed animal to press against your tummy? That's what I used the first few weeks postop to help when I sneezed or coughed.
  25. Oh and I have a desk job. I was out from 12/10 and returned in 12/26. So 2 weeks.
