I'm not sleeved but I asked my nut this question bc I eat steel cut oats and she said it was fine. I plan on adding protein powder to it as well.

Anyone have an enlarged heart going into the surgery (that you knew of) and still able to have surgery? We're there any special precautions that had to be taken during surgery? TIA!

Sorry to you that have had attacks. I know they can be painful. I personally have not experienced one but a very close friend just had hers out a few months ago. I saw the pain and the amount of er trips she had. I have to wait on a call from the surgeon but if he recommends it I might as well get it out. Thanks for all the responses.

Congrats! I got my approval today as well

Just called bcbs to check how long it would take to get approved. Case submitted 10/25 approved 10/29. I'm freaking out. I'm so excited to do this and be done with this fat suit forever. Happy Monday all :-)

My pulmonary will expire 11/11 and my ultrasound isn't until 11/20. So my surgery has to be after that date. I'm freaking out. This is all becoming so real now.

Congrats to you both! I have to get pulmonary clearance again before they will schedule my surgery. But I'm still shooting to be done before the end of the year.

Thank you. Now I have to tell my family. I was waiting to find out if I was approved. I'm so afraid they are going to be disappointed with me that I'm afraid to tell them.

Sure hope so bc I need to lose about 150 and Dr and psych all said it was doable.

These last 24 hours have been crazy. For some who might remember back in September I was diagnosed with Barretts and told I could either have rny or find a new surgeon who would still do the surgery. Well I got a second opinion and I do not have Barretts! The test was wrong. My Dr called me at 8pm last night at home to discuss and said I could have the surgery. So I went from probably not having it to they submitted my case to insurance today! Wow I'm a mixed bag of emotions right now!!!! I just had to share with you all. I will hopefully be sleeved by the end of the year. Woohoo.

Good luck on your journey! I'm from nw burbs and also going to Kane center. I just over my doctor. I will hopefully get approved in the next week or so and get my date :-)

Yeah my barbaric surgeon said Barretts is a contraindication for the sleeve and he wouldn't do it and won't do it for anyone that has it. He is a great guy and I really wanted him to perform mine. So when all his happened I of course was so excited But now I'm also scared lol. It's all so real now.

had my second opinion today regarding my barrett's esophagus diagnosis and found out that he and my surgeon spoke prior to my appointment today (big plus in my book). the new dr today is 99% sure that i do not have barrett's and that i should still be able to get the surgery (YAY!!!). he said, which i also read online, that you can usually see barrett's visually and not just by biopsy. he and the surgeon both reviewed my pictures and the 2nd opinion dr said i should be able to go ahead with it. he is going to redo the egd just to make sure. so i am scheduled to have that november 19th. i'm trying to not get too excited yet as i still have to jump through this hoop but its looking promising . thanks all just had to share.
