    Just curious....

I ate like normal except I cut out pop and sugar a few weeks before. But i did have one last big meal the night before preop diet started. Hubby took me to red lobster. Yum

    Looking for Honesty...

I'm not telling you what to do im but giving you a story on someone I knew. 10 years ago a girlfriend of mine decided to have rny. She was young, early twenties had no comorbidities. She was 30lbs shy of her insurance covering the surgery without those comorbidities. She was so. Distraught about her weight and new this was her only way out thay she carbed up and gained 35lbs. Her surgery was then covered under her plan. Now I know 35lbs is a lot different than 10lbs. But it's both being done for the same reasons. Good luck in your decision.

    Egd

That's crazy that you were awake during it. I had two prior to surgery and both times was given propofol to knock me out.

    What is the leak test?

It's kinda like the upper gi you probably had preop except instead of the 10oz of barium you take a few sips of this clear contrast and they take pics of your esophagus and stomach to make sure everything is moving. I had so much swelling when mine was done Tuesday morning for (surgery was monday) that the contrast stayed in my esophagus . We waited 30 minutes and did pics again and it was still in my esophagus. So i am had to stay until today. But doing much better and the repeat upper gi went well

What is your definition of feeling full?

It was strained cream of chicken. It's on the full liquids diet. Sorry left out strained.
  11. Hey there. I was sleeved on the 10th as well and was going through everything you described. I actually just got released tonight and got home 30 minutes ago. I had severe nausea and when I took my leak test Tuesday morning I failed as the contrast was not leaving my esophagus. Yesterday I got really upset with myself for having this surgery. I think part of it was because I didn't feel good and the other part was in didn't know what was going on with the swelling that I had. I feel 100% better today and I won't say that it might not ever regret doing this again but take it one day at a time. And deep down I know my days of battling this weight is over.

What is your definition of feeling full?

So glad this was on the main page. I just got sleeved on Monday. Started clear liquids yesterday got discharged today on full liquids. I just made my self 4zoz of cream of chicken soup and half way through it got this terrible pain in my chest. I'm assuming something was telling me to stop so I did. I guess now it's all learning about our new bodies

    I'm sleeved!

Hi all. Everything went well. I was done with surgery To 325 was in recovery until 6 and now I'm in my room.. Feel pretty good other than the nausea. I had dry heaves at first. Then a little while ago threw up a few times. Only have two incision and they don't hurt but my whole abdomen is sore. So far so good. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers today. I can't keep my eyes open other wise I would write more.

    I'm sleeved!

I'm doing ok. Actually still in the hospital. I've had a lot of nausea up until this morning and they don't let you leave with that. At least my Dr doesn't. Because of the swelling the upper gi didn't go as planned. It got stuck in my esophagus. That was at 730 yesterday morning. They took new xrays around 1 and the contrast made it to my small intestines. So i didn't start the liquid diet until last night. So we will repeat tomorrow and hopefully go home. I'm not in a lot of pain. They took my pain drip away last night and I only had one does of oral this morning at 315. It was so gross income refuse to take it again. I was gagging the whole time. And of course I'm exhausted you don't get much sleep in the hospital. It's kinda comical now because every time I fall asleep someone comes in this room to do something to me. Each day is getting better. Last night I could drink a whole lot. Today I'm getting down 2oz at a time.
  20. For being as heavy as I am I was healthy. I had no comorbidities pretty amazing with a bmi of 51. But I was becoming borderline high bp and was also pre diabetic. So i keep telling myself I am doing this to prevent any future weight related illnesses. It's a huge deal and even on the way here yesterday I keep saying to my husband am I doing the right thing? It was more nerves and being nervous about surgery. But I did it and right now am at peace with my decision.
