Internal Staple Issues In The Future
JamesHRN replied to TamaraS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The staples do not set off the metal detectors made from a different grade / type of metal I went through after my surgery nothing happened -
It is impossible to get anything caught in your staples or sutures because they are on the outside of the stomach not on the inside

I ate my protein drank plenty of water I stayed away from the sweets and high carbs however I did not deprive myself of any just tried to stay away from them. Remember it is a lifestyle change not a diet if I wanted something I ate it but in small amounts and only on occasion
-
Congrats you are doing very good on your lifestyle change keep up the great work

Looking To Hear From Folks Who Are Several Years Out From Having Vsg
JamesHRN replied to mysunflower621's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sleeve has been around about 7-8 yrs I think I know my friend had hers done 5 yrs ago -
You should not eat it if you have an issue with it however if you are able to have a small piece no reason you can't remember we are not on a diet but rather a lifestyle change. I have not deprived myself of things I wanted and could eat and I am doing very well with my lifestyle change. I had my surgery 2 months ago and I am down 75 pounds with another 40 or so to go my original goal was to be 180 but now I am shooting for 160-170 I have dropped from 280 to 205 so far.

Puree Vs. Full Liquid
JamesHRN replied to doxieville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Puréed is like baby foods it is different from full liquids -
I am able to have coffee and tea during the clear liquid phase it needed to be without creamer but you should be taking meds for the acid reflux already and you can get it over the counter if the Dr doesn't give you a prescription

I have ate thin crust pizza without problems you will need to go with how you feel eating it if it goes down ok then it is fine if it hurts then stop eating it

Am I Making The Right Decision?
JamesHRN replied to Jessica89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Jessica It is a big decision to make I had the surgery in Mexico on July 7 2012 I have had great success as with all of the surgeries it is not a quick fix it is a tool to help you lose weight. It will depend on how you work the sleeve to lose weight. If you stick to the protiens first followed by your fruits and veggies with carbs being last you should do fine with it and remember it is not a race it can take up to 18 months to reach your goal although it can be much less. I started at 280 pounds and now I am 210 I was wearing 46 waist jeans and now I am wearing 34 waist. I am losing really good but i do stick to high protien first I know of people that don't even come close to the lifestyle change they eat real food when suppose to be on clear liquids or over eat on portion sizes just make sure you are willing to make a commitment to you lifestyle change You will be able to eventually be able to eat anything you want it will just be smaller portions. -
