Going to Mexico alone
JamesHRN replied to coexist23's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went alone I felt safe and did not have any issues -
I had read that for every 10 pounds lost you gain an inch in length I was looking forward to adding over 10 inches since I lost 105 pounds but you won't believe this but it did not happen. LOL

I take NSAIDs and have for months post op some Drs are just against them you have a risk of bleeding and ulcers but you had the same risk before surgery. Reading post here I see how many people believe that things have really really changed following VSG the biggest change is your stomach is smaller. I read people talking about food getting stuck in the staples but the staples are on the outside of the stomach not the inside. Some people post what they believe to be true but it is not. I am only speaking for myself and my experience. I lost 105 pounds in 4 months and still losing I did not change anything but the amount of food I consumed. I eat my Protein first and fruits and veggies then sweets I drink my Water even though I have never had an issue with not drinking enough water. I have NEVER deprived myself of anything and I still don't. I told myself I WAS NOT on a diet but a lifestyle change. I don't try to over eat I listen to my stomach and when I am full I stop eating. I don't try to over eat. And yes I have and I have thrown up after doing so. Nothing in my life has really changed. Except I don't eat as much. I still don't eat much and find it hard to consume a lot of calories I still have my glass of wine if I want it in the evening or anything else I did prior to surgery I have not had any issues following surgery. I work as a healthcare provider and yes I am licensed and I see so many misinformed people here trying to give hear say info some even very offended if you try to make them understand he truth. I will tell you I have worked with hundreds of Drs in over 25 years as a healthcare provider and all of them have their own preferences it does not make any of them right or wrong but rather a preference. NSAIDS use being one of them yes there are risk with them but not any risk that were not there before you had surgery yes you might want to try to limit the number you use but you should have even before you had surgery. One of my favorite lines I use often is Common Sense is not as Common as it used to be. And I see this to be so true among people I talk to.

You can be let go for any reason that does not violate state and federal laws EEOC has to do with protected class of discrimination An at will state does not have to give you a reason to fire you but you have to prove your discrimination case if you have one. Perhaps you should research more Being fired because your hair is red is not discrimination unless you can prove how you were discriminated against.

Florida is an at will state you can lose your job and not be given a reason

I have to say that as a US. Nurse that at least where I had surgery in Mexico that the same IV Fluids and meds were used same as in the US I could actually read they same labels as we have here in the US Believe me I was on top of everything and ask lots of questions when procedures were done with me And it was the Registered Nurse who took out my drain not the housekeeper. Several of the nurses that helped me had worked in the US in California -

I just have to throw this out there again it is hear say. And I hope that you do not think that complications such as these can happen to any patient using any surgeon in any hospital EVEN the so called BEST at what they do. I also heard than when I was there that there were so many patients that the DR had to do surgeries without sleep for 7 days there were so many patients that everyone had to share the beds 3-4 patients in each bed but at least they were all cozy in the beds I wonder if this is true it must be I heard it and I know that people don't lie or fabricate stories and I absolutely know that people DO NOT spread RUMORS or stories they hear. So I guess it is a FACT -
I was shaved after they knocked me out for the surgery

Started Soft Foods diet...I need help!
JamesHRN replied to Kate27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your stomach is smaller now your portions will be smaller I am 5 months out and can't eat the portions I used to eat. If you continue to over eat and force the larger portions you will get sick and throw up and could eventually stretch your stomach out after time. -
401k to pay for MX surgery?
JamesHRN replied to Heyher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be able to use it. It is for a medical procedure they don't ask if it is needed or not. -
6 months post op- july sleevers
JamesHRN replied to kyzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery July 7th 2012 in Mexico I am down 105 pounds from 280 to 175 now I was wearing 46+ waist pants now 30 inch waist are very lose on me. I feel so uncheck better now -
I started my journey just over 4 months ago I started at 280 pounds and was wearing size 46+ pants since I refused to buy any larger pants than the 46 inch waist As of about a week ago I and down to 175 pounds my size 30 inch waist pants are getting loose on me I feel so much better now than I did just a few months ago I no longer need blood pressure meds and my feet ankles and knees don't hurt anymore. I feel a lot better since I lost the weight. When I started my journey I said this was not a diet it was a lifestyle change I never deprived myself of anything if I wanted to have something I had a small amount. Sometimes it may only be a teaspoon of whatever it was that I really did not need. I would eat my Proteins first then fruit and veggies followed by the high carb foods. I drank my Water but for me I have always drank plenty of water.

Are you taking Prilosec or Prevacid anything for your stomach you may want to consider it if not
-
I have drank wine since about 2 months out maybe even at 6 weeks post-op without issue just remember it is calories that you are taking in and you will be a cheap drunk only about 1/2 of what I could drink before to get a buzz

Body Contouring Seminar Tonight!
JamesHRN replied to chad2rad's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I have heard to wait 18-24 months because the body continues to change during this time frame -
I think that if you read the post here you will find no hard and fast rules regarding treatments following the surgery from the different length of the various stages of eating example I had 3 days of clear liquid and moved to full liquid and was on puréed/ soft foods by 1 week out. Many have been on clear liquid for several weeks before advancing their diet these are all the Drs preference. And as far as NSAIDS all Drs have different opinions on to use the or not to use them. Just like any other medicines I bet none of us were even on the same pain med following surgery again all Drs like all people have their own preferences.
-
NSAIDS could cause ulcers before you had surgery as well again it is a Drs preference and a choice that you and the Dr makes
-
I was given NSAIDS when I was in the hospital and take them now I am 4 1/2 months out it is a Drs preference to use them or not I have had no issues using them
