I am watching Wendy Williams and Lisa Lampanelli is on about her sleeve surgery. She is down 102. She wore a size 24 and now is around a 6!! Good for her. She had the surgery in April, I think. She looks great. She said she felt the sleeve was better than the band at her age, 51. I am 62. They keeping bleeping her language. Lisa is saying that it is a tool and you have to work with it. Her husband had the sleeve a few months after her. Good for them. She is very funny and crude but that is what I love about her. She is saying her sex life is better and the stomachs can now touch. We all need people like Lisa to tell the world that surgery is a helper/tool for all of us. Thank you, Lisa.

Why don't people use mirrors? I was getting a manicure on Sunday and a very thin 40ish woman came in. She wore tight print leggings tucked into awful sox with high wedge platform shoes. OMG! she looked awful. I am now watching Price is Right. A woman has on an awful top, skirt, tights and boots and pig tails (for young girls) and she was over weight, which made her look even worse. Mirrors, people, mirrors. I am no fashion maven but I try to look decent. I use many mirrors to try to look my best for the day Time to go have lunch out with some cousins. I had a protein shake so I would not eat the wrong foods so I'll have an iced tea or hot tea. Enjoy your day everyone.

Light At the End of the Tunnel...

My first appointment/support meeting was October, 2011. Then when I was finally approved my hospital was taken over by a big Boston one. So I had to go through a lot more appointments and finally had the band July 29th. I totally understand what you are going through. Good luck., When it finally happens it's great! I know it was the best thing I have done for myself. I wish I had done it many years ago when I was younger. -

Wow-that looks very hard. Nice having all those fresh veggies. Enjoy them. -
You are all wonderful for helping me. Thank you very much. I told my husband that this wonderful site, LapBand Talk would answer all my questions. Enjoy your evening. Very very cold in Boston this week. Maybe riding the bike will warm me up tomorrow.

You're not gross. The gas doesn't stop or at least with me. My stomach makes noises whenever I go to bed at night, too. Happy you're now post and not pre anymore.

When in doubt call your dietitian. That person is always a great help. I am able to email mine and get answers within 24 hours. Good luck. -
I go almost to every support group at the hospital. They are the same day every month and they are great. I have them in my calendar book for the year and work around them. Most months my husband joins me and he has learned a lot, too. They are extremely helpful and no one judges you, they help a real lot.

You have to learn to eat with your band

I have a protein shake every morning for breakfast because I hate breakfast foods. My choice not the doctor's. I use to love french toast and had 1/2 a piece a few weeks ago and it did nothing for me. Weird how your favorite turns into, blah. -
Just had to share, I made the best dinner tonight. I took my filet and cut it into very small pieces and put it in an Asian sauce. I stir fried pea pods, water chestnuts and almonds with sesame seeds in an different Asian sauce. Then I cooked the filet and added the 2 together and had wild and brown rice. Uncle Ben's has one cup ready to eat, I love them. I keep getting bored with food and this one was a great one. For lunch I had a huge salad and sliced deli turkey. I don't use dressing (never have had it) so I know my lunch was lo cal. If I think of other great recipes, I will share them. I do make a great salmon, too. I use the Asian sauce with sesame seeds and make it crispy either on the cook top or in the oven. I love that meal too. I live in Boston so I know my sauces are local.

Welcome to the blog. Glad to hear you're taking care of yourself after so many surgeries. I have an awful back but so far surgery was not mentioned. We are all here to listen and we do not judge but try to help. We try to answer all questions and will say to you when needed-go to the doctor. Good luck.

People fail, not their tool is true. My cousin had bypass about 6 years ago and told her doctor it failed. She has wine every day, snacks and has a drink when dining out. She failed. Her mother had bypass well over 25 years ago and gained back everything plus, they did what they wanted, eat, eat and eat more. I follow all my instructions. I go almost every month to my support group at the hospital and love them.

Welcome back. Maybe blogging again will also help you. Going to the gym is wonderful. I joined a month ago and love it, never thought those words would come from couch potato. I bought a Fitbit and log all my food and it records my movement. Maybe invest in something like that and it may help you, also. Good luck.

You are given instructions for a reason!

I do eat pizza, just not like I use to. Someone recently was putting down the band and not being told about medications. I was told I would need vitamins, minerals, B12 and fish oil. These were mentioned more than once and I take all chewables and they taste fine. Also mentioned was having their gall bladder out, that was one of the pre op tests. I had mine removed 38 years ago so I didn't need it done. -
I am very surprised about the salmon. That was one of my first soft foods. I know everyone is different. Good luck.

Good evening I just bought at Target, adult gummies fish Oil by Nature made. They don't taste bad. I just don't like gummie candy. The jar was $10. where I live. Also where I live, Boston area, Target takes other store's coupons. I had a $3. coupon for the fish oil from BJ's and Target took it. Good luck with finding the right fish vitamin. -

Congratulations!!!!!!!! You seem like you have your head on straight and focused to succeed. It's great when rings fit. My original one from 42 years ago fits again and my other 2 newer ones with ring guards are big. It is great. I have a necklace I wear almost everyday and that hangs down more. The gas after the band is awful, happy your's is gone. Keep up the good work.
