We are approaching our 3.5 millionth post!
dylanmiles23 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Alex because of this wonderful site I have met some of my best friends, thank you. We can all ask any questions and the outside world doesn't know them. I love that. People tell the truth and a lot of people hate the truth but then why ask if you don't want to know the truth that you all ready knew. I miss some of the people that were here when I started almost 2 years ago but people move on, are busy in their lives and I guess they feel they don't need the extra help or 'the WLS family' anymore. I don't write as often as I did but I try to read every day from others. Thanks again ALEX!!! you're great. Arlene -
How/Why did you choose Lap Band?
dylanmiles23 replied to josiek1988's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love my band. Next month will be 2 years. I chose the band because I still have my insides. Nothing is stapled or removed. I know if around 6 people who did by pass and after 5-10 years they are just as big as before. Look at Carnie Wilson. She failed and now has the band on top of by pass. Your body Do what you want not what others tell you to. God luck with your new journey. Arlene -
First congratulations on your new journey. Now STOP eating !!!! Your stomach had major surgery , it is swollen and healing. Follow your doctors rules and his rules only. You can do this and you have to. I love my band. Next month is 2 years for me. I never ever did before or after eating that was not on my list. I was afraid of what could or would happen. Just remember you didn't gain over night and you won't lose over night. Be patient. You can do this. Arlene

I had an extra large wedding almost 44 years ago. Loved it. My parents wanted it. My youngest son got married in his SIL's driveway by my nephew. It was very nice. They decided the week before more or less. It doesn't matter where. Look at Sex and the City , court house! Just make sure you have the right partner

Happy new month to everyone in WLS land. I haven't been writing much but I try to read about all of you. The end of July is my 2 year banding. Best thing I ever did. I am much healthier and I actually enjoy walking. My weight has been around the same for 1 year but my surgeon thinks I am at goal even though I would like to be 40-50 pounds less. I am around 190-195 right now. When I got married 43 1/2 years ago I was 144 and have not seen that number since. Under 200 maybe 2 times in all my married life. I enjoy eating out and do so almost every day at least one meal. Bread is a problem food for me so only great bread in restaurants and then mostly the crust and dunked in olive oil. A week ago I was out with my grandsons, 6 & 14 and husband and I ordered fried onion rings. I had 1 too many and after very bad slimming and throwing up slim I threw up that f**kn onion ring in front of the boys. How embarrassing is that? The band tells you when to stop and you need to listen. I enjoy outlet shopping and walking. I go almost once a week even if it is just window shopping. When I go walking I need to be someplace not just in my area, boring! So I went when it was the Memorial Day weekend sales!! OMG, I did good. I wear a size 12 shoe and Easy Spirit had sandals for 1/2 off. I bought 3 pairs for $80.!!!!!! Mighty fine value when you have huge feet and I am only 5'5". Congratulations to all who graduate this spring. Enjoy your summer. Arlene aka Eye Candy

that sounds like fun. I play Omaha hi/lo. I could play in CT at Foxwoods but it's 4/8 and I can't afford that and also I have never played in a large game like that. When real money was allowed on Poker Stars I played $3-$5. games only.

Where do you play poker? I play for fun money on poker stars all night. In MA you can't play for real money. Congrats on your win!!

The Truly Scary Part of Bariatric Surgery
dylanmiles23 commented on bflblog's blog entry in Big Fat Loser
Sorry to hear about your friend. I have not changed at all. I did not let my band change me at all except my eating. Many years ago I did a crazy weight loss program and lost 40-60 pounds. I former friend said I changed when I became thinner. My husband said I didn't, she was jealous of my loss because she wore my 'fat' clothes. I wish you a lot of good luck with your new journey. -
Foods that make you barf! Literally.

The other night I had a few fried onion rings. Slimmed a few times then threw up big time in front of my grandsons. F**king gross. -
Recently Lost a Best Friend Because of My Decision to Get Bariatric Surgery
dylanmiles23 replied to Sharon C.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sharon. I wish you good luck with your new journey. It is your journey not hers. She has issues and can't accept people getting healthy. WLS is not an easy way out. I have the band, almost 2 years and my health did a 100% turn around for the better. We are all here to help, listen and cheer you on. I still have not told most people. Other than this site and a few FB groups no one knows my beginning weight, or how much I have lost. My business. Arlene. -
How do you handle the pressure?

About cutting hair. 4 years ago I cut off over 1 foot of hair. I went on line and looked at Raquel Welch's wig site. Best wigs that look like real hair. I went short and spiky and I was around 58-59 at the time. I printed 2-4 pictures and my hair dresser and I chose would look best for me. Been like that since. Good luck. I am a natural red head and hair red, hi lites and low lites and love it. Time for a new cut and color next week. Good luck. Be brave!! -
I gurgle. I burp. I hic cup. I fart. Part of lap band.

I love Cliff protein in mint chocolate. They have 20 g of protein. I have had 3 dietitians. #3 doesn't like bars at all. #2 approves of them.

Surgery I was told. I am stuck with mine.

If you can't do pre-op how are you going to post op? It is major surgery that has to heal properly. I hope you're really ready. Good luck. I have lap band and had a fill yesterday. My doctor does 3 days liquid , 3 days mushy and then back to real food. I would never think of not following his rules.

Ladies, what do you consider your ideal dress size ?
dylanmiles23 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Saw my doctor today and he is thrilled where I am now. I wear size 14 pants. I would love 12. I have never worn a 12 in my life. Dress size , don't know. Never wear them. I think a 12 there also. -

Duodenol switch or gastric bypass?
dylanmiles23 replied to jcurti02's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello, I saw my doctor today for a fill, I have the band. I asked him what DS is and asked questions. He does not recommend it at all. He thinks people become malnourished from it. My doctor is from a very large Boston hospital. Good luck with whatever you decide. Just be careful.
