I'm not losing weight like everyone else
dylanmiles23 commented on cheryl2586's blog entry in cheryl2586's Blog
Thank you. I would go to your classes but Boston is a long drive from FL. I don't expect to lose all my weight in one year because it got on this gorgeous body over many many years. I did know this when I chose the band. -
I had a burger for dinner with cheese but no roll. I was told when stuck, walk. I have had to do that a few times and now I try to make sure, I eat slower and smaller bites. Also, no liquids for 30 minutes before or after eating. Good luck. I do eat bread, though.

The one I buy, Body Fortress is at Walgreens but more money around $21-$23. in the Boston area.

How badly do you want to be Thin?
dylanmiles23 replied to Terry Poperszky's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I really want to be thinner and healthier. I didn't get fat in on year so i know I will not be thin in one year. I am getting there slowly. I now enjoy the gym. I have been sick all week, so no gym or exercise this week. I am still enjoying some of my old foods but much smaller portions and recooked for lower calories. I do not want to give up everything because in the past when I did I went back and then added more pounds. -
I have been sick all week. Went to the doctor and she told me to take children's Mucinex and it is helping!

Something's keeping me from having success

Call your doctor and the dietitian. They should be able to help you. I find eating a salad about an hour before my dinner helps me a lot and I eat it very slowly. -
I know at least 6 people who did the by pass and gained the weight back plus. I feel the Band you are more in control and it was not a major surgery. The sleeve is too much of the body removed. With both of those surgeries you lose weight much faster and being over 60 I wanted slower so my body could adjust better. Best thing I did for me, sorry I didn;t know about it years ago or this site before the surgery. Thank you Alex for this site, it helps me a lot.

I use chewable vitamins. I have the Bariatric Advantage brand from the doctor's office or you can get them on line. Today I was told I need more vitamin D, the one I take doesn't have enough in them. Ask your dietitian what you need. She was the one who gave me the list. Good luck. Bring a magazine.

I only drink chocolate. But I add decaf instant coffee and peppermint extract.

I have the Hamilton Beach small blender, around $15-$20. It doubles as your drinking cup.

Every doctor and dietitian are different. My doctor goes to 2 different hospitals so I switched dietitians and they have different food plans. Did you get a print out when you met with yours? I have from both of them. First food in is protein, then veggies, fruit and then carbs. Good luck.

I woke up with a sore throat Monday and now it is a full blown cold with the stuffy noise. Maybe it is starting slow like mine did. I hope not because it sucks.

I just read on the internet that in MA (I live here) that schools are sending out notices to overweight children. I have a son who has been overweight his whole life and he would have hated that. I did try everything with him, too. He is now 34 1/2 and trying to lose weight by cutting out sugar and diary and he is down 30 plus since November. I am very proud of him. He has been with his wife for 6 1/2 years and she can finally put her arms around him. I think schools sending out notices is going too far. Bring back gym class twice a week. That was taken away years ago.

I use 2 scoops of the powder when I make the shakes. I was also told to buy Carnation Instant Breakfast protein shakes. They are just fair. I was given one before I left the hospital to make sure it went down and stayed.
-
I buy powder ones. They are less money. I like mine very thick. I add ice to the milk and powder and blend it all together so they are extremely thick. Good luck with everything. I use Body Fortress available at Walmart for around $15.

WOW, waiting 5 years to decide. I do things instantly. I went to a meeting and signed up. I once needed knee surgery. Went to the doctor on a Monday to see what was wrong, that Thursday, had the surgery. Just do it. There are pros and cons to everything. I live my life, don't think about it, do it. Good luck with your choices but the Band is the best thing I have done for ME and my family.

Does anyone have any suggestions for cold meds? I have a stuffy noise and sore throat. I have liquid Tylenol and have been taking that for 2 days. I have been sucking on cough drops a real lot, too. I am sure because of the sugar, it's wrong but they do help. thank you.

Good for you going back on track. No one is ever perfect. Hopefully you got all that out of your system.

Good luck with everything. I wish I came home skinny. I love how children think. Soon the 2 of you will be roller bladeing together.

Hi, I asked a trainer at the gym about bingo/bat arms and he showed me some machines to do. I do one of the machines every time I go. I don't know if it is helping or not, yet. I have only been going to the gym since December. I don't think I will go sleeveless this summer. Good luck with the arms.

I have be ashamed many times. I have 2 sons, both are around 6'2" and around 16-19 they were 200 lbs. apart. My husband and I were over weight then too and I felt embarrassed for the thin son. I have been over weight for most of my 42 married years. But I always tried to keep up with the boys. I learned to ski when I was 40, with them and we skied for many years together. Now that I have 3 grandsons, I know I will be able to go places with them and walk around a zoo without resting like I did a few years ago. I am sorry it took me until 61 1/2 to have the Band. So all of you young ones-Good for you-for doing it now, not later.
