    support groups

tonight I had my support group. They had a sleep doctor and she talked about the different kinds of sleep and how having the surgery does change people sleep. I know I sleep much better and hub said I don't snore anymore. Also, I no longer take 2 hour afternoon naps. Next meeting we are having a tasting party with new products. I will let everyone know about the new items. Then in May is a cooking demo. Most people in the crowd have not had any surgery yet. Some couldn't decide what they wanted. So being me and talkative I said the band is the best. One man had bypass a few years ago and loves it and he was with his sister who is scheduled for the sleeve. Another man, no surgery yet, said his brother had the by pass and never smoked. He now is a chain smoker and said the by pass causes addiction. I don't know anything about that. Interesting. I really enjoy the meetings and listening to other people's stories, pros and cons. Do all of you go to your meetings? My hospital is 5 miles from my house, which makes a big difference. I told the director of the office about this site and that she would learn a lot about people's thoughts. Enjoy your evening everyone.

    I Can't Stop Cleaning!!

Good luck tomorrow. I see your blogs so often, which is wonderful, I feel like you have had the band for a real long time. You will be perfect. I didn't find this wonderful site until after my surgery. You are very lucky to have found it before and ask and listen and talk to all of us.

    Fast food and alcholic drinks??

I had seen something about drinking and WLS and it said that since the stomach is smaller it takes less to get drunk. Ask your doctor and or dietitian about everything you say you will miss. I use have a pint of ice cream almost every night, I don't have the urge to even have any. Your taste may change. You can have fun in a group without drinking. I do not drink or smoke (never smoked) and always had a great time in my younger years. Good luck with your choices.

    What are/were your goals?

My goal was 170 but as I lose I now think around 140-150. When I got married 42 years ago I weighed 144. That would be amazing. My sons have never seen me under 180 and they were kids then.

    guilty pleasures

Can't wait until Dancing With The Stars!! Love, Fashion Police and Joan's sense of humor. I love raunchy humor. Hate all the housewife shows. Love Criminal Minds. Use to love The Girls Next Door. Now what about porn?????

    SF hot chocolate?

Congratulations. Were you given a list of what you can have? That is the only list you should be having anything from. I was given pre-op a booklet that lists every stage and gives examples of product names etc. SF Popsicles are clear liquid. I had those a lot and still do.

    1 week banded with plication

Congratulations! You did the right thing, you took charge of your body. Just remember to follow your doctor and dietitian's rules and you will be fine. Everyone on this site will agree because every doctor does things differently. If you have any real problems call the doctor, that is why they are there. Some people wait a few days, weeks, months and if they called when the problem/pain first happened it would have been easier or better for them. I have had no problems or pains. I really enjoy my monthly support groups and I go every month and they are required by my doctor. You learn a real lot listening to others and the professionals. Enjoy your new body.

Welcome back. The best advice is follow your doctor and or dietitian. Every person on this site will say the same thing and every doctor has their own rules to go by. You will be great.

Watching what I eat and how much to eat.

That is wonderful!!!! I have done that a few times and it is a great feeling to feel full with smaller portions. You're doing great.

    Week of hell!

Very smart seeing the doctor. I am happy you're feeling better. Every band and every person is so different with fills.
  13. dylanmiles23

    HELP! PLEASE & THANK YOU!

I really don't think fill amounts are as important as eating properly. I have had 3 fills and they total 2cc, maybe. My surgeon does all the fills even if I see an intern or nurse. I think you will be fine.

    Bam! All Gone...

no straws forever. It has to do with too much gas into the body.

    ups and downs

i think you're fine. Some people don't have scales and only know what they weigh when they go to the doctor. And then there is me, who weighs myself about 6 times a day. I know my measurements are changing faster than the scale and I am fine with that. I don't expect to lose weight real fast and didn't get on me real fast either.

    Bam! All Gone...

You're very funny. Thanks for the smile. Glad you could work it off. My doctor doesn't allow straws, does yours?

    Captain's Log, Day 4...

Going to the gym made me laugh. I think it is great that you solved your own bad eating. I once tried freezing a shake and it was awful.
