Every one goes through Bandster Hell, I think. If you are hungry try putting clear polish on your nails and by the time they dry hopefully the urge will be gone. I have been doing that for about 25 years.

Another embarrassing subject.....Diarrhea!
dylanmiles23 replied to mrsto's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had awful diarrhea after the surgery. I take colace every day since the surgery because of constipation. I have had constipation for many years. Weird how the insides change. Ask your doctor about any BM problems, they always know best or try to make us feel better. -
Sorry to hear you sick. That really stinks. As far as eating out, I do it all the time. Right after the surgery, I would go with my husband or whoever, I ordered hot tea. Sometimes I would bring with me a pre made protein drink. Now the only time I won't eat out is after a fill and then I am on shakes for 3 days. Then my doctor has me on mushies for 3 days and then I will eat meatballs in a restaurant. My MIL loves to eat out a lot, so we go with her a lot. Feel better and rest.

I am happy you got a nice walking vacation. Maybe when TOM is gone your weight will go down. The only times I get stuck is when I eat too fast or too much. I do a lot of restaurant eating and I order properly, most of the time Did you and the hub enjoy Disney World? Was this your first time there? When my sons were younger we went 3 times in 5 years and I have not been back since, so it is about 25 or more years. Feel better.

Congratulations!!!!!!!! I can't believe you went home the same day. Sometimes sucking on crushed ice is good, too. I liked the SF Popsicles a lot. Now rest while you can.

concerns about having surgery
dylanmiles23 replied to stept04's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not great with the measuring of some foods. My proteins I buy in the correct portions. I wear a Fitbit and that is hooked up with my computer and I record everything i eat and do, walk, clean, shop etc. That way I know where I am. There are other sites that are free where you can record your food, etc. Maybe one of these will help with your new journey. A lot people use fitness pal (I think that is the right name). Ask and people on this site will help with this. Last night I went with friends to an Amvets Hall that has wonderful pizza, music and dancing. Where I live we have bar pizza. They are very small, thin crust pizzas. I ate 1/2 (old days could eat 2 whole ones) and had a super time. I recorded my pizza and my one dance with the Fitbit and it tells the calories in and out. Enjoy your weekend. -
Caught in a lie... Well kind of

I was being treated for COPD/asthma for many years and my lung doctor did many tests and discovered my coughing 24/7 was caused by a hernia and my stomach being in the wrong place. I took 6 pills a day just to eat. My lung doctor set up the band appointment and said you are getting this. I have told some people about the band but never hid the hernia and stomach surgery. Just tell the boss what I said and use my surgery reasons for you. The band can be very private or some people tell the world. I wish you luck and the boss may be the type of person who shares TMI. -
Sorry to hear you are having problems. Call the doctor back and say you can not wait that long for the appointment. Maybe tell them you are not well and feel you may get worse. My surgeon is on call 24/7 for anything. I wish you luck with getting this matter taken care of.

Before I left the hospital, when I got the band, they gave me high protein Carnation Instant Breakfast. Not the best, but had worse. They had to make sure I could hold it down, I guess. I use a small Hamilton Beach blender that is under $20. at Target/Walmart and it is also the drinking cup. Good luck with your new journey. -
Happy to hear it went well today. I have never had a fill with a flouroscope. My doctor has me raise my legs and the port sort of pops out. I was seeing my doctor at the Boston hospital where I got the band and had to allow 1 hour for travel. He now goes to the local hospital, 5 miles away, and I get to see him there and parking is free, no Boston fees. It is a real pain to travel far. Have a great spring weekend.

Welcome and good luck with changing your life. This is the greatest site ever. I have learned a lot and met the most wonderful "friends" here. We all try to answer all your questions with honest answers even if they aren't the answers you want to hear. We sometimes just vent our awful day or partner, co-worker etc. The Band is the best thing I have ever done for me. I love it. Hopefully you will too. Arlene

Yes-yes-yes!! I was always the hot one and now I can't get warm enough. I am driving my husband crazy. I have the car hot and he has no jacket on. I am in Boston, you still need to wear one. I wear a jacket (sometimes a fur), a scarf, gloves and still freeze. When I sleep, I sweat. I don't get it. My room is 64 with a window opened all winter even with blizzards Maybe we are losing our fat insulation. Keep warm.

Sorry to hear that you got sick. When I have a fill my doctor has me on liquids (protein shakes) for 3 days, then mushies for 3 days and then back to my regular diet. He feels the band has to adjust to the new fill and your stomach needs to rest. I have never had any thing except for being stuck because I ate too fast or too much. They were my fault and I knew it before the stuck feeling. Feel better.

Lap band risks seem like 100% failure in my research
dylanmiles23 replied to FrankieP83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Frankie, it's me again. I have a son Frankie, who has been obese most of his life, he is 34 1/2 now and dieting on his own, this time. He is being good and wants to be around for his 2 sons. I have a MIL who doesn;t believe in any cutting what so ever, so that means she wasn't thrilled with my band surgery. But she does see a huge difference in me. You have to do it for YOU and no one else. It's your health and you seem smart enough to realize that because you have looked into WLS. Make an appointment with a doctor and start some where with the rest of your life. Planting daises are much better than pushing them up. My husband and I always say that. -
Port removal tomorrow due to infection. Will I still have restriction?

Sorry to hear that you had problems. Good luck. I don't know enough about this to answer questions, just wanted to say my prayers are with you. Arlene -
I am very proud of you for asking/seeking help before you gain a real lot back. Good for you. Maybe make a dietitian appointment and start over with stage 3 or 4. I love my monthly support groups, do you attend yours? Also, how about exercise. Just walk 5-10 minutes to start and work it up from there. You can do it. You made the commitment when you got the band to help you and now help it. I go to the gym since December. I rode the bike for 5 minutes and now can go 25-30. Take baby steps. Consider this your other kick in the ass!!

Lap band risks seem like 100% failure in my research
dylanmiles23 replied to FrankieP83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, The band is a tool and you and your tool have to work together. I know a few people who had the by pass and gained back all their weight within 10 years because they stopped using that tool. Failure happens every where, marriage, jobs etc. The band was the best tool I have decided to work with. Most diets fail and that is why most people have WLS. I wish you luck with your decision. -

So my big butt was so big it could hold a serving tray. Well it is gone! I need a butt lift and I still have a lot to lose. My husband said I need to have the fat sucked from the belly and put into the butt. I told him they do that in Brazil. Brazil, here we come? It is a nice feeling to know that huge monster is gone and there is still room for improvement. I have a lot of belly fat. I go to the gym but I am sure I need to something else to work it off. The fat took many years to get there and it will take some time to get off the body. my fatonmythighs have lost at least 6" since September (that was when I started taking measurements). I hope every one realizes that inches count as much as numbers on the metal monster when losing. Every one enjoy your thinner day, off to the gym now. :wub:Arlene

Welcome and good luck with everything. I am losing slowly but losing inches and that feels great! My size keeps getting smaller even though the scale doesn't move much. I will stay within 2-3 pounds for a few months and I am fine with that. Yesterday I held up a pair of jeans and said, these won't fit and they were big at the waist, size 16. Smaller clothes are just as important as a lower scale number. I take my measurements once a month and they keep getting smaller. I see my doctor and dietitian the end of the month and I am down about 5-7 lbs since the beginning of February. Just remember it took you longer than a few months to get heavy so it will take longer than a few months to get thinner. This site is amazing, helpful, truthful and honest! We all try to tell the truth and sometimes people don't like the truth. Enjoy your day. Arlene -
The flu this year is awful. I am glad you are doing better.
