First-congratulations!!!!! I have a protein shake every morning, here is my recipe: chocolate protein, 8 oz. skim milk, a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice and it is as thick as McDonald's. I have a Hamilton Beach small blender that doubles as a drinking cup. So when everything is in the cup then add the ice until filled. I have ice cube trays that make very small cubes and use a whole tray for each shake. I bought them at Bed Bath and Beyond for about $3. Next, you love life. Dear Abby/Ann Landers, one of them says to make a list of the pros and cons of the boy friend. Do you think you can live without him or was he just someone you liked, not loved, having around knowing you were not alone. These are questions only you can answer. I am married for 42 1/2 years to my high school sweetheart and we went to different high schools. My husband and I broke up for 3 months when we were 16/17 and it was his birthday and I sent him a birthday card and then a letter and we have been together ever since. The protein shakes are not forever but hopefully the weight loss will be. I just love having them first thing in the morning because I hate eggs and breakfast foods. I use body Fortress, at Walmart around $17. Good luck with your new journey. Arlene

I often wondered about all this, too. Being Jewish and everyone being from Europe, everyone has a different last name since landing in this country. My husband's last name is made up so everyone with that name is related. I think it would be too hard for me but I would have loved to find people. A cousin did find something though about my mother's uncle on the internet, he was an original secret service person and my mother lived with him for about one year. My mother said Charles Lindbergh gave them a dog and they called it, Lindy. My mother is alive, almost 95 but has dementia, so she doesn;t recall too much. Good luck to all of you finding about your families, I hope good stuff, not bad.

Hello, You are down a lot of weight and that is super. Maybe make a dietitian appointment and or doctor's appointment and get back on track. Have you been weighing/measuring your foods? I know if I don't keep track of my foods, I will over eat senseless calories. Have you been exercising ? I wish you luck with your stop smoking. I know it is a hard thing to stop (I never smoked) but my husband was 4-6 packs a day, yes you read right. Good luck and stay in touch with all of us on this wonderful site for support. -
Every weekend on tv in Boston there is a show called The Phantom Gourmet. So on Sat & Sun for 1 1/2 hours i watch all about restaurants. So today was NE seafood, fried clams, lobster, you name it, fried. I said to my husband, I want fried shrimp, clams and onion rings. We are not having it but I so wanted it. NE fried food is so wonderful all summer. So I totally understand your thoughts on food today. I made homemade meatballs for dinner. Boring!

ok, I looked it up. Sounds like the your doctors-f**ked up. My opinion. But knocking Lap Band is still wrong. My cousin had by-pass over 25 years ago and the doctor screwed up and no one was on her side but everyone knew that doctor slipped with the knife. Her daughter, a RN, had the same surgery. That did not stop her. Except she is fat again because she eats and drinks, wine, a cocktail when out and large portions. Her fault, no one else. Things happen. My husband always says, doctors practice medicine. Well they practiced and did something wrong, it seems. Sorry to hear that. -
Was feeling kinda lonely today.

Enjoy the new shoes and have fun using them to stay fit. When ever I go out, I take a cooler and have my iced teas and protein bars with me because I never know when I will get hungry and what foods will be available. Today I went outlet shopping with my husband and had a bar on the way home and it was great. Enjoy all the parties and talk with everyone and don't look at the food. I have done that. Thank your BFF for serving and keeping us safe. -
I think Ms. Maui (I think is her name) needs to stop being so mean with her comments. I feel bad she has a problem but time to stop with her negatives toward the BAND, which I think is wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

I love bread, good bread, great bread. I now only have it in restaurants that have super bread. I eat the crust areas only, like the ends and I dunk in oil or use butter. I don't eat bread in the house. My burgers are bun free. I have brown rice and whole wheat pasta, when possible. If I totally gave up these foods, I know I would fail. I am not a breakfast eater, never ate eggs, so I use to eat french toast a lot, don't any more. I did have 1/2 a slice of my husband's when out with the grandsons and it did nothing for me. I was thrilled. I love my protein shakes for breakfast. Do what is comfortable for you and only you.

New to FitBit - Hoping to find some friends!

I love the Fitbit. I got mine in December and use it to keep track of my food, drinks and activities. Sorry, I don't know how to do the friend thing. I wear mine on my bra because I found it fell off the waistband of pants. Good luck with it and I hope you enjoy it, like I do. -
You look amazing. Thank you for sharing your pictures.

Nice blog. I have always said that addiction, meaning drugs etc. you can live without and food you can't. There is always help for these and not enough for food addiction and we can't live without food. People look at addicts like, I feel sorry for them, I hope they get help. Then they look at the food addict like, that fat person, pig etc. Sad but true. I use to eat a pint of ice cream almost every night. I don't buy any. I love very dark chocolate and still have it but small pieces. I had birthday cake when my MIL turned 90 and it was too sweet, I was thrilled! Enjoy your day and long weekend.

I live in Randolph south of Boston and go to the support group at BI/Milton. I know the BI/Boston has meetings twice a month. Is there a local hospital in the Andover area? Ask your doctor. I have one tomorrow night. I know Boston is about 45-60 minutes away but once a month isn't too bad in this weather so you can get support. Good luck.

I get them all the time. My husband thinks when I eat or drink too fast. I also burp and fart a lot. I was told these are all normal.

I totally understand. I live in a condo and the pool opens Friday for the summer. I need a new swim suit and don't know what size yet. I plan on buying a 2 piece with shorts and a blouse type top. :rolleyes:Just wear your new suit and enjoy and tough cookies for what others think. You lost a lot of weight and it's their problem not yours!

Good for you for thinking about the Band. I love it. It is a tool and you do have work with the tool. Have you attended any meetings at the local hospital? They are very good for information and support. I went to the support groups every month before I got the Band, which was about 8-10 months and I still go every month. The meetings are great. I wish you luck with whatever you choose to do. I hope you have a support group at home, too. My family is amazinbg and behind me the whole time.

What of my favorite foods can I still eat?
dylanmiles23 replied to NYC1992's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You're great! Thank you for those hints. I do know most of them but then I won't give up pizza or pasta. When I have Chinese food I have steamed brown rice, shrimp or chicken and veggies. My husband could eat Chinese food 2-3 times a week. Keep up your wonderful work. Your picture looks great. -
So today was color, hi-lites and cut day. My husband met me at the salon, he needed a cut too. While my stylist was blowing my hair my husband noticed I have a spot that is on the balding side. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very vain when it comes to that s**t. My stylist said the hair is growing back. I did a new style, on the pixie side. Looks cute. I don't know how to put a picture on this site, sorry so I can't share. My hair color is red from birth, so it is colored a darkish red with blonde hi-lites and it looks great. I wear my hair over my ears, another vain thing, I wear hearing aids. Runs in my father's family. Getting older comes with it's side effects like hearing loss, hair loss, wrinkles and lots more, too much to list but I am healthier from my friend THE BAND! Thank you Band. Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Arlene aka Eye Candy

At goal and need advice on Fitness and Nutrition
dylanmiles23 replied to BandsterNYC's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Congratulations on your loss. Do you still your doctor and or dietitian? They can help you the most about vitamins and minerals. A blood test would show what you have too much of or too little of. I have a protein shake every morning for breakfast. I hate breakfast foods. I use 2 scoops of whey protein and that is around 52 g of the protein plus I use FF milk with a small amount of decaf instant coffee, small amount of peppermint extract and lots of ice and it makes a very thick shake and I am good for 4-6 hours. I buy Body Fortress, not expensive around $16. at Walmart. I buy chocolate. I also eat protein bars, 20g in those. My dietitian told me to have those because they have the most protein, they are made by Cliff.
