My nephew did tough mudder in NJ and loved it! He said he would do another one. Good luck with the training.

So today we were on our way to an Italian restaurant for lunch and we were passing a golf club that has views of Boston. So we went to the golf course. The menu was great. We both decided on the lobster roll that had mayo on the side. I hate mayo so this was perfect. This would be my second time trying lobster since the banding last July. I got stuck real bad. It was awful. My poor husband was left eating while I was walking around outside in 97 degree weather. People from NE live on lobster since birth and now I can not do it any more. I am very sad about it. The french fries went down fine, of course. Stay cool and wear sun block. 'Eye Candy"/Arlene

How do your other doctors feel about you tting the lapband?
dylanmiles23 replied to clg61753's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My lung doctor set up my appointment to learn about the band and said to me, you are getting this. I never looked back and never asked a million questions. All my doctors are very pleased with me. -
I tell everyone about this site because it has helped me a real lot. You are right about the disrespect people have for each other and they don't even know them. We are all a group of people who decided to take charge of our bodies with The Band. We should be here to help and listen and not fight.

Never heard of it. How is it different from the regular one?
-
I have brown rice and have never been stuck but I do chew it a lot. As for cold cuts, I can only chew turkey and chicken. I don't eat ham, so I can;t answer about that. Roast beef was very hard to chew. I had skirt steak last night for dinner, it din't get stuck but was very hard to chew. I do eat ground beef and filet mignon without trouble. I have even tried a hot dog and had no problem. I had Nathan's skinless. Good luck.

I was surfing on the tv and found an old Dr. Phil. The obese husband wouldn't go near his wife unless she was under 200 pounds. They have not had sex or kissed in 2 years. She got under 200 and he still won't go near her. He is obese and had the nerve to say he wants his size 10 wife back. Dr. Phil told him off but good. That is a form of abuse according to the doctor and I believe it. I have heard of people that can not handle it when their partner loses a lot of weight and that they leave. That is sad. I know my husband and I have been married 42 1/2 years and have both been thick and thin but mostly thick for us. We are not going any where. Everyone enjoy the rest of your long weekend. How do you handle different scales?
dylanmiles23 replied to aviva1979's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
All my doctor's scales and mine are all different within 5 pounds. I don't let it get to me. Some banders don't own scales because of this or they go on the scale too many times a day, like I do. Maybe set your scale to match your doctor's. I weigh myself without clothes and at the doctor's I am dressed but shoe less. -

Being brave and sticking to your food plan is GREAT!! Your family and friends are a great way to catch up and talk and forget about the food. I am getting good with that. Always carry a drink of water and maybe you will forget about the 'wrong' foods. Happy 4th!!! -
thank you for the list. At my pharmacy they have that I can not have anything with aspirin products and the other meds I can't have. I also tell every doctor i go to.

Congratulations to you and all the others in your 'group' about your upcoming banding. I have never heard of eating 3 or less meals a day. I have 3 plus snacks. I have a protein shake every morning for breakfast and it fills me for 3-6 hours. I guess every doctor is different. I just don't know how you will not cheat with so little intake. Good luck.

Happy July 4th to all. Be safe from the extreme heat and stay cool. Drink-drink your water.

Getting prepared...what protein shakes do you like?
dylanmiles23 replied to Amyzing's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck on your new journey. I buy Body Fortress at Walmart, around $16-17. I only use chocolate. I use: 8oz skim milk, 2 scoops of the powder, a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice and it is very thick and great. I have this every morning for breakfast. I was banded last July and have started the shakes the March before to get me started on weight loss and it worked. Before the band I loss 28 pounds because I gave up high calorie breakfast foods. I use a Hamilton Beach very small blender, under $20. which is also a drinking cup. I own 2 of them. Any other questions-feel free to ask, everyone on this site is great with answers. My dietitian has me eating Cliff protein bars. They have 20g of protein in each. I love the mint chocolate ones, then chocolate and then chocolate with peanut butter. -
Wonderful as always. I just came from my monthly lunch with 2 high school friends. We are 62-63 years old. I had a burger with 1/4 of a roll and 1/2 the burger and just left the rest. Yes I wanted more but knew to stop. Have a wonderful 4th, Jean. Arlene

Skinny person trapped in a fat body..
dylanmiles23 replied to Crayolaphoenix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on your date, pretty soon. Just remember it's a tool to help you. I am far from perfect but without this wonderful 'tool' I would still be more obese. My 1 year is the 30th and my weight could have been less if I was perfect. Working out is very important, I'm happy you love it. Good luck and keep us informed. -
I have a son that sounds just like your story. He couldn't play football until high school and then the 'team mates' made fun of the fat person. But he was voted the friendliest in his senior year and prom king. He is almost 35 and losing weight on his own. I am very proud of him. He does't drink, usually but is a weed smoker. Keep up your good work.

Road trip assistance (AAA can't help me)
dylanmiles23 replied to Quahog's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have a fun time and enjoy the ride. I never leave home without my protein bars. I have 2-3 with me all the time even if I plan on going out for 1-2 hours, you never know. Also, fruit, grapes or cut up melon is good. I also have, per dietitian, Carnation Instant Breakfast high protein shakes. They taste, so-so but they are good for a trip also. They gave me that before I went home from the hospital after the band Happy 4th!! -
All surgery hurts. Before you know it, you will forget you ever had the pain. It is 11 months for me and I don't remember any of the pain, how long it lasted etc. Wonderful news with your weight loss!!

Hi, my name is Quahog, and I'm addicted to ice cream....
dylanmiles23 replied to Quahog's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i use to eat, before band, a pint of ice cream almost every night. I just don't buy it and if my husband wants it, I buy him what I hate. I am very fussy about what I eat. I always have potato chips in the house, what he likes. If they were my favorites, they wouldn;t last one day. Just chose smart when shopping. Good luck. -
I am in Boston and right now I am watching the Doctors. They just showed a new WLS for the person who needs to lose 25-60lbs. They put a tube thing down through your mouth and fold part of your stomach. It has been used for about 4 years but not approved by the FDA, yet. They use this surgery for other things. Very interesting. I would say to go their web site and see the video. They explain it better than me. My husband likes the sound of this surgery because his heart doctor wants him to lose about 30 pounds. Another thing they spoke about was the WLS cards to show in restaurants. The doctors said why can't anyone order a smaller meal.

Yesterday I started my day perfect as I do every day, with my shake. Then I was very bad! I went for monthly 'free' Godiva chocolate but bought an extra plus some almond bark. I like having a small piece of bark when I have the urge for dark chocolate. Then I went to Cracker Barrel for lunch, bad, very bad. Had 2 biscuits. I was walking around the outlet stores again, so I did get in some walking, Then I went food shopping with my MIL. She is 90 but the world's slowest walker and never has a list and had me walking all over the store. My Fitbit said I did about 4000 steps shopping with her. She only bought about 20 things. I text my husband from the store, you owe me big time. I can do a month's worth of shopping in less time without walking 4000 steps. Today my older grandsons are coming over. We are taking them to the Children's Museum. Should be another great walking day. The weather sucks in Boston, so we have to do something indoors with the boys, ages 5 and 13. The science museum would cost over $100. for 4 of us, what a rip off!!!!!!!! How do families afford to have a great day out. My mother will be 95 on the 10th and she finally lost her last tooth the other day. The same day my 7 month old grandson got his 1st! His other great grandmother (mother's side) lost 2 teeth last week too. Weird. Everyone enjoy your day. Arlene
