4 days of my surgery
dylanmiles23 commented on lissettem022884's blog entry in lissettem022884's Blog
The gas stayed with me for about 1 week, I think. I used a heating pad and walked as much as I could. The drinking part, I have never felt like that, sorry I can;t help you. Welcome to the Band!!! -
WOW-Very nice work. I know it will take me more than 1 1/2 years to get to goal, and I can wait. You are proof it doesn't matter how long it takes, just be patient and good things happen to those who wait. Now celebrate with something fun, like a facial, mani-pedi or something new to wear is always great.

I was told the skin just sags. Men do get tummy tucks, too. I live in MA and was told that some insurance companies pay for the tucks if there are rashes and if the skin sags below your private areas. I don't know, I have not lost enough weight yet. At my monthly support meeting at the hospital they had a plastic surgeon come one time and discuss all this but that was when I was first banded. Ask your doctor about this. No questions are dumb questions, that is the only way to learn, ask.

I have been more or less reading the blogs more than the chats lately. I guess because it's summer time, I am out and about more. I still try to give my 2 cents when I see it is needed. LOL! How is your summer doing? I am in Boston and the temps went down but the humidity is awful today with on and off heavy rains.

Wonderful! That is a great accomplishment. -
How long did it take you to reach your goal?
dylanmiles23 replied to ccsbulldog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be 1 year next week and have lost between 70-78 depending on the day. I did have a goal of 170 but now think I want to be less than that. I think I will be around 130-140 in 1 1/2-2 years. It took more than a few years to get big so I know it will a while to get thinner. Staying healthy is very important to me -

Surgery set for July 30th!!

I bought a lot of 't's from Kohls when they had their sales. The winter long sleeved ones were around $8-9. and the summer ones under $7. I have about a dozen of each and they wash real well. I dry them for about 5 minutes and then hang them. So I don't know if the shrink. Also where I live in MA we have outlet stores and recently bought tanks at Jones New York for $10. each. I also did well at Marshalls/.TJ Maxx for summer clothes, too. I own a lot of tops and about 6 pairs of jeans, black, blue and white. As far as bras, I was measured and went way down. Panties, had many sizes, so I was all set there. Good luck. I know people at my support group say they go to consignment stores. I have brought clothes there but never bought any.

Every state should have on their web site an insurance site. I know MA does. Also some doctors are known to do things for cash. Blue Cross pays for WLS but I don't know how long you have to be insured before they pay. Good luck. Maybe try a big city hospital and ask, questions are free.

Survey: How many cc's did you get in your first fill?
dylanmiles23 replied to beanie80's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had 3 fills for a total of 1.5. I go for another fill in 2 weeks. My last appointment I said no to a fill and I am sorry I refused because I let things get to me and have been bad having ice cream (soft serve-no cone) too often. -
You will feel better as time goes by. I was not allowed to drive for 2-3 weeks post-op. If I was a passenger it was for under 1 hour rides for 3 weeks. Did you doctor mention this? I had the hernia repair and my stomach was in the wrong place and needed to be made lowered. I feel like nothing ever happened to me except I eat 95% less food! And I can move more and walk without resting.

Day 20 with heat rashes and pain
dylanmiles23 commented on Adrienne21's blog entry in Adrienne21's Blog
For rashes I swear by Gold Bond. Or call your doctor for suggestions. As for heat at work, can you supply your own fan? No one said getting in the proper amount of protein and liquids is easy at the beginning but it does get easier. I am an over drinker, so I am up all night peeing. -
I understand the not healing part. A few years ago I had a mole removed, not cancer-the doctor didn't like it. It got infected and turned into MRSA and I was on all kinds of antibiotics for over one month. I was at the hospital 2-3 times a week. It sucked but it healed very nicely. Be patient, it will get better. I found at the beginning having my sugar free popsciles was great. I still have them all the time. I like Edy's brand the best. When i get a fill my doctor has me on 3-4 shakes a day for 3 days, then 3 days of mushies and then back to my regular eating. I do this about every 2 months. I go in 2 weeks and I will be having a fill. It gets better, trust me. The 30th is my 1 year and it doesn't seem it.

The beginning of my journey....I'm supposed to drink THAT much protein!?
dylanmiles23 commented on magsinaz's blog entry in magsinaz's Blog
I love my protein shakes. They are chocolate (only), 8 oz. skim milk, a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice and they are as thick and as good as McDonald's. Hamilton Beach makes a small blender, under $20., that is also the drinking cup. I buy Body Fortress, about $15-$17. at Walmart. I add Colace into the morning shake every day (stool softener). It is a prescription liquid. At night I take, prescription also, Miralax powder in my hot tea. -
Learning a little at a time
dylanmiles23 commented on SolracSpree's blog entry in SolracSpree's Blog
I eat at TGIF's all the time. I love their Jack Daniel's salmon and also their lettuce wedge. (I don't use dressing) So last week when I got home from eating my salmon I went to their web site and sh*t myself when I saw the sodium and calories for the salmon. Hidden things are so bad. I also had my husband's bread sticks, they are so good, hot from the oven. That was bad too. One slip up doesn't mess us for life. It's the slip ups 24/7 that got me fat. Enjoy your weekend. -
You sound like me except I am down around 74-79 pounds depending on the day. i know if I was 100% I would be down more. I am very happy, it's not a weight gain like the many many years in the past. For dinner tonight I am having my 1oz of pasta with my chicken and salad. I know I can not do without everything. Last night I had a wonderful salad and salmon but ate a big ass warm crunchie roll, the insides dug out. Be happy with what you have done, lost weight!!

Good for you. Going into this with such a positive attitude makes everything much better.

Which Bariatric vitamins, minerals and other dietary supplements do YOU take ?
dylanmiles23 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I take many different ones every day, all can be chewed except for Biotin 5mg from Bariatric Advantage. I know I need all of them. I take 4- Fiber Choice; 2 fish oil adult gummies from nature Made; from Bariatric Advantage I take: B12, probiotic, multivitamin and calcium citrate with vitamin D. It's a lot but I think it's better to be safe than sorry. -
How to apply for my lap band ID card?
dylanmiles23 replied to tamaraking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor had the form. Or call the lap band 800#. I use the card in restaurants all the time. -
what state are you from? I live a little south of Boston.

thank you for the spelling. I always say it about large people, me included.I know it is rude but I feel we have all done it one time or another. I always said it about the amount of food my 2 sons always ate. So that is what I called the women's department in stores. My mother told me that would make a great plus size clothing store's name.
