Worried it won't work??

Totally agree about the band vs other WLS. It can be removed or fixed. Removing your stomach, gone for good ! -
Surgery Day after tomorrow!!!
dylanmiles23 replied to PJkitty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The worse pain is from the gas they fill you with. A heating pad and walking helps a lot. In a few weeks you won't recall any of it. I didn't. Best thing I did. I can play with my grandsons and not get out of breath in 2 minutes. Your children will be happy with a mother that can keep up with them. Good luck, you'll be fine. -
I am losing slow but then I don't exercise enough and sometimes eat the wrong foods. I am not worried as long as I don't gain. I have been about the same weight for 3 months and my doctor is fine with that, too. How do your clothes fit? Mine get bigger and that is a loss.

2nd Thoughts About Surgery
dylanmiles23 replied to RD86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wonderful, your weight loss. We have all lost weight on our own but we can't keep it off or all of us would not have had the Band. The band is the tool to help us control our over eating. It works great for me and reminds when I eat too much or too fast and the food gets stuck. I had second thoughts about 5 minutes before I wheeled into surgery. A lot of people do and I think that is normal. Maybe you're just not ready right now but might be in a month or so. I am thrilled with my results so far and know I still have a ways to go. Good luck with your decision. -
Surgery 8-26 and I had to cheat on pre-op! Help!
dylanmiles23 replied to iturn2dj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On my pre-op I had 2 shakes a day and then for dinner it was veggies and 4 oz protein. So according to my diet, you were fine. Maybe ask your dietitian or doctor. Good luck with the surgery. As for going to Disney, will you be strong enough to walk that much so soon after surgery? I would wait until you can eat real food. But then disappointing a child stinks. -

You look amazing! Congratulations on your success -
My doctor said 6 weeks. Ask yours. Each doctor has their rules. Walking was allowed the day after surgery within reason. If you do it, good luck!

Is the pre-op diet a bit extreme?
dylanmiles23 replied to RD86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear your having problems. I use only chocolate. I use the following: 8 oz FF milk, 1 scoop protein powder (Body Fortress), a little decaf instant coffee (kills all flavors), a little peppermint extract and then tons of ice. It tastes super. I have been drinking these for 15 months for breakfast and I am not sick of them at all. I have a small Hamilton Beach blender. After I put in everything I fill it with the ice. I use small ice cubes. Good luck. -
Possible issue - Stressed out
dylanmiles23 replied to BandedCandace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I retain water and never use salt. Salt is in everything. I over weigh myself, meaning 4-8 times a day. I will weigh myself at bed time and by the time I wake up, after peeing 4 times during the night, I can be down as much as 6 pounds. Just last night I was 5 pounds more than this morning. CG, does not have a metal monster because she weighs herself as much as me. Only her doctor has the scale. Her husband, a saint, threw her monster away. My son tried to throw mine out and I would have killed him. Like Missy says, every day the scale does change. Don't be hard on yourself. -

I buy Body Fortress at Walmart. I use chocolate only. I put 8 oz ff milk, 1 scoop mix, a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice. It is very thick and tastes great. I have been drinking these for 15 months for Breakfast and I am not suck if them.

Very sweet husband! You really look great.

I am not the best speller but I had the plastic injections that begin with S many years ago. It didn't work for me but my friend had great success.

I am so sorry to hear this. I need knees but refuse to do them. I'll see what happens when I am much lighter. My hips are good, I think but my back is gone. I totally agree about at least one more opinion. Arlene

Lap Band & Love Life
dylanmiles23 replied to Htx_Pepper's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have been married for almost 43 years and dated 4 1/2 before that. We have both been fat and thinner. He was very thin one time and it did go to his head. True love doesn't see size, love sees the person. Ann Landers/Dear Abbey, one of them, had a saying, am I better off with them or without them. You be the judge. -
I was just watching a repeat on TLC of Say Yes To The Dress. The bride lost 115 pounds with the band. Her future husband was there with her through the whole thing. Congratulations to the both of them. The bride's mother is thin, discipline and opinionated. The bride tried on so many form fitting dresses and loved a tight fitting that showed off her 'new' figure. The mother hated everything and the poor bride left Kleinfeld's without a dress. Why can't mother's say nice things. It is not 'her' wedding and 'her' dress. I had a cousin that was like that. When her daughter married for the second time the bride did everything her way. Sad but her mother had died. My mother did my wedding my way and when we planned it I was just 19. I got married 1 month after I turned 20 and I am still married. If that bride, Victoria, is part of this site, I hope you finally found your dress and not your mother's.

I stay up very late at night and sleep very late. So last night's Night Line showed and talked about having a piece of mesh sewed to your tongue for 1 month to control your eating! It was gross. It cost $2000. and was being done by a plastic surgeon in CA. He said you lose 15-20 pounds by having just protein shakes. What happens after he takes the mesh off? You gain it back! of course. They showed 2 women and they were thrilled with their results. Comments from any of you! I just told my husband, he fell asleep and he couldn't believe people would pay for this. There is Slim Fast and other protein shakes and they don't cost $2000. People will do anything to make money from over weight suckers, I mean people. Have a great day everyone. Arlene

am i allowed to drink something before a meal??
dylanmiles23 replied to angieband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I drink up to about 10-15 minutes before eating but wait the 30 minutes after. But ask your doctor because every doctor has their own thoughts. -
I don't understand 2 bandages. My doctor has me lay down and raise my legs and the port like pops and then he goes in once. If I gave up up carbs, I would lose more weight but when I do without I eat more of those items. But everyone has to listen to their own doctor and dietitian. Any loss is better than a gain. Congratulations!!!
