That is awful. I feel so bad for that young girl. I can now shop in misses departments but before that when I would shop for my mother, size 10-12, no one ever questioned me looking at small sizes. Maybe because I am old.

Caught between stress and comfort
dylanmiles23 commented on lisacaron's blog entry in lisacaron's Blog
I totally get it. I have a 95 year old mother in a nursing home with dementia, 69 year brother who is mentally challenged and a 90 year MIL. I schlep non stop. 2 years ago this past week end my husband almost died and is getting stronger but is on full disability. I don't have a "ME" life any more. I am almost 63 and it sucks. This site is great because we can all speak our minds and the family doesn't know it. Smile, we are planting daisies not pushing them up. I don't do the eating out of control anymore. I did for a while with almonds but don't buy them any more. Have a better week. Arlene -
One week away...This is REAL!

Congratulations!!! I hope you will not be sorry because I am far from sorry. I love the band and the way it has helped me control and readjust my eating habits. I really enjoy going to the monthly support groups at the hospital, also. -
Taking the first step

That is wonderful you are starting the best journey to help you with your weight. I love the band. I am off all meds except for the required (by my doctor) vitamins and minerals. I don't snore any more either. Good luck. -
Just got out of hospital....

Congratulations on getting the band. I have talked with people from Australia. Maybe there is a place somewhere on this site where you can look them up. As for the gas, walking and a heating pad help. -

Stuck... now what?

I have never had that much discomfort before. Maybe call and ask before going. My doctor has someone on call 24/7 does yours? Feel better. Maybe have a Popsicle -
Congrats. Some people heal faster than others. Just don't push it and let your body heal. I know walking is great for exercise but that's it as far as I know.

you are very smart and brave to admit this. Do call your doctor ASAP. Good luck. Maybe also talk to someone who has experience with this problem. Your doctor's office may have someone on staff, mine does.

When you see the doctor, talk to them. I had pasta for dinner and I eat bread but only in restaurants and then it is the crusty parts not the doughy part. Good luck tomorrow.

you got great feed back. This also why I love this site.

Dr. Phil's son, Jay, went under cover in a body suit a few years ago and went to get a job. He was turned down. Then when the body suit came off he got the jobs and people did talk to him. The show was about how obese people are looked at and treated. It is very sad. Have a great Labor Day.

Sometimes restaurants put a bowl on the table and I do over eat it. At the movies with my grandsons, really over ate it. I try not to eat it. I use to eat a massive amount almost every night and since the band last night was the first time I made some for my husband. I had about 1 cup. That was great for me. I have an old time Whirley popcorn maker and it comes out so good.

Thank you very much. The food items look great!

you're very smart with your pre-surgery eating. Good luck. We have all been there or we wouldn't have had band surgery or be getting it.

I am very happy you went to the hospital and didn't wait over the long weekend. As for shakes, I have a super great recipe. I have one every morning. I use chocolate Body Fortress (around $15-17. at Walmart). 8 oz. FF milk, 1 scoop Body Fortress, a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice and blend until it looks like McDonald's or Wendy's thick shakes. They taste great with no after taste, the coffee and peppermint do that. I use a Hamilton Beach small blender which is also a drinking cup under $20. at Walmart or Target. I love them. Have a great weekend. Arlene

I do. I have my salad (the greens) about 1 hour before my dinner. But in restaurants I some times order a salad with a protein, like salmon and eat that all together. I don't use dressing so I save on fats and calories. I stop when I know I will be full and bring home the left overs.

Your first appointment make sure you have all your medical cards and medication list. Every doctor's office have their own pre-surgery testings etc. Very hard to answer that one. I have seen on this site some people have questionnaires to fill about for their psych test, mine was a one on one for about 45 minutes. On your profile you don't list what state. I am from Boston. Congratulations and good luck with your new journey. I hope you will not be sorry, I am not.

most doctors have 24/7 coverage. (mine does) Better to call now than wait until Tuesday. Feel better.

Congratulations on getting the band and starting a new journey. As far as going to work so soon, it depends on your doctor and how well you heal. Ask your doctor is the best advice.

Congratulations on your wonderful weight loss and for sharing your before and after surgery pictures. You look super. Enjoy your new body. -
My doctor doesn't want any fluids for 30 minutes before and after eating. Every doctor has their own rules.

Have a wonderful time. Walking around will help with your exercise, also.
