dylanmiles23 replied to karenlamorena's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck tomorrow. The best thing is the Band. One thing I forgot pre-op, taking before pictures and measurements. Up to you. -
Caught between women's and misses sizes
dylanmiles23 replied to dolphintattoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you tried Lane Bryant? They start at 14w. They have a web site, also. JC Penney also has many different sizes. Once I lost about 30 pounds I never needed W sizes anymore. I buy Gloria Vanderbilt at BJ's for under $20. I wear a size 14 in that brand. Good luck shopping. -
My doctor's office does the psyic eval. I thought they all do. We learn things every day. Good luck with everything. I hope it all turns out great.

Such a long road, but what twists and turns
dylanmiles23 commented on debbieperez55's blog entry in Blog 42354
Congratulations-twice. Marriage and banding. Great way to restart your life. -
You sound like me. I have been 190-195 since I think May. I see the doctor in 2 1/2 weeks and want a fill so I will eat less. I have not had a fill since the winter. I do want to be a 10-12 but need to be good with moving and eating. Thanks for writing 'our' thoughts. Arlene

Do you miss favorite foods
dylanmiles23 replied to vincereautmori's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with all of the above. Last night a wedding they gave sorbet between course, maybe 1/8 of a cup. It was so sweet, I just had the small taste. I don't miss it. My dietitian believes in totally eliminating foods. The dietitian before her said there were no, no-nos. Just use your smarts. I use my smarts, usually but the band does remind me not to over eat, which I use to do a lot. -
Ok none of us is totally perfect. You come on this site and tell us that you were extremely bad and don't want people to comment. If you robbed a bank, killed someone etc. would you still be pissed people commented? Same thing in my eyes. Do something wrong and write about it, people will say something. This is the USA, freedom of speech. That's all folks for tonight. Arlene

Good evening, Today I went for my annual pap smear. It was fast and pain free!!! I have something that is tilted so it has always hurt. My husband thinks the no pain was the weight loss. I hope so. Also, it was a new doctor and she was gentle and quick. Have any of you thinner women noticed any less pain when getting the pap smear? Remember to get checked at least every 2 years.

Have you called your doctor? There may be a blood test that can show something. I was always tired before the band. In fact every day I took a 2-3 hour nap. Since the band maybe I have napped 2-3 times.

Disappointed in my friends reactions
dylanmiles23 replied to Kelli1016's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kelli, when Jim posted you had the surgery I was very happy for you. As for your friends, they may be jealous that you care enough about yourself to get healthy. Maybe take the heavy one with you to a support meeting. -
I just went to BJ's and bought the best looking golden pineapple. It was too hard to chew, too stringy. Anyone else have pineapple eating troubles? My husband is thrilled, he gets to eat all the delicious pineapple.

2 Year Old Gets Bariatric Surgery
dylanmiles23 replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Being the mother of a son who was obese since he was very young, I feel for the parents. My son learned to climb the counters at 2 years old and sneak. We did every diet, went to a top child obesity doctor etc. Nothing helped. When he went to college at 17 he was over 400 lbs.(Went to school for cooking) He now at age 35 dieting on his own. He is a cook/caterer. My 38 year old son was always under weight, same parents, same house. No, I would never do surgery on anyone under 18-25. I have seen on the Maury show obese toddlers taken from the parents. Very sad. -
That has happened to me with a few foods. Great feeling to have them gone!!! Good for you. I had a Chinese egg roll 2 weeks ago, don't need one again. Hot fudge, gone.

that was great. showing your age!

Day 3: Pre-Op Diet and More Art! :)
dylanmiles23 commented on Allieg8tor's blog entry in Journey Journal! :)
I love your art work. My family and my husband's have a lot of artists. My brother would go into an art gallery and go home and paint the same picture and he never had training. Keep up the great work. -
thank you for that. I do get tired of hearing/reading about all the people that can't stick to a food plan for 2 weeks, a month or whatever the doctor tells them they need to do and then they wonder why they failed.
-
Why, do you get WLS, any type, and then not listen to your doctor or dietitian? Why? When I was given the pre-op diet, I followed it to the 't' because I was afraid. When it came to the post-op diet, I followed it to the 't', also. When I get a fill, I am on 3 days of liquids, 3 days of mushy and then back to my regular foods. I listen to the doctor and his staff. They have been dealing with WLS for many many years. So WHY, get the surgery and just follow your own rules?????? Think before putting the chip, the french fry, McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts in your hand, let alone your mouth. If you have to have one of these, at least wait until your surgery has healed and you can eat regular foods. People who have had the band for a while, I have had mine for almost 14 months, maybe some of us know what we are talking about. I listen to the masters, they have been here longer than me. I try to help and if I don't have an answer, I will say it. So when you are getting wheeled into the operating room, just remember WHY, you are there. To get healthy and live longer. Have a great night. Arlene ps Saturday night I have a wedding and yes I will eat but not over eat and I do not drink when I eat and never alcohol.

I eat out a lot and never order a drink. My hardest was Chinese tea when in a Chinese restaurant. You will learn.

An Introduction Post! :)
dylanmiles23 replied to Allieg8tor's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think you are great. Good luck with everything. The band is a tool, that helps all get in control of our over eating. I wish I did something about my weight when I was in my 20's not 60's. I am probably your mother's age. You will learn a lot of this great site. You can ask any questions and you may not like the honest answers (some people can't handle the truth) but everyone is here to listen and help each other. Arlene -
I don't drink coffee but drink about 10-14 cups of hot and iced tea a day. I could not have caffeine for many many months after the band. I brew my own iced tea with decaf bags, still. I do use decaf instant coffee in my chocolate protein shakes. Maybe time to learn to drink decaf. The doctors know best. Good luck with everything.

I have a protein shake, also every morning for breakfast. It is very thick and sometimes I have to use a spoon because you can't drink it.
