  1. I eat out a real lot. Usually I have a salad with protein and veggie. I love grilled salmon and green beans. At Italian restaurants sometimes I have pasta and meatballs. I have the crust of really good bread at restaurants. Last night I was really really bad. I had bread (the crust) dunked in oil with cheese, cheese pizza and coconut shrimp. Today I am really really good. Thursday night I am having dinner with about 20 people at a Mexican restaurant and I hate Mexican food. I looked on line and most likely will have a burger without the roll. I never have breakfast at restaurants any more. I use to eat breakfast out 4-6 times a week. Now it's a protein shake only. Tomorrow night I am going out also, belated birthday dinner with my brother for Chinese food. See I eat out a real lot.

    boycotting CVS....

    I am from Boston and I have Romney care. Without it my husband would have been F**Ked. He has major health issues and 2 years ago was so sick he saw about 5-6 doctors a week. He took then about 20 different meds a day he now down slightly. He is on SSD since age 61. Health insurance is very important. He uses Walmart for meds and they have been with him through all his issues. I use Walgreens.

    Getting banded in two months

    Welcome Abby. The band is the best thing I have done, also. I am off all medications. I do need to take vitamins and minerals that the doctor tells you to take. I take prescription colace and Miralax because of BM problems but I had those before the band, also. I can now walk without having to sit and rest. I go to BJ's and can walk around the whole store. Once I forgot something my mother needed and because it was at the back of the store, she didn't get it that trip. Now I love walking and window shopping every where. I go to the gym, not as much as I should but I do go. I live in a 3 story townhouse and think nothing of going up and down all the time where as before I tried to limit it to 2-3 times the whole day. I hope we can all convince you it has helped us all a lot. Good luck and keep us posted. Arlene

    Trouble getting protein in

    ​I also buy Body Fortress, in chocolate only. I add some decaf instant coffee and some peppermint extract with the milk and tons of ice and make a thick shake. I have one every day for breakfast and love them. The coffee and peppermint kills the medicine taste from the shake My dietitian told me to buy Cliff Protein bars, 20g of protein. I love the chocolate mint ones. (Yes I love chocolate and mint). I keep the bars cold For protein how about ground beef? Like meatballs with tomato sauce or sweet and sour meatballs. For the sweet and sour I use low sugar grape jelly and equal part of chili sauce. Put them into a pot and heat until they come to a boil. Make your meatballs (or turkey, chicken etc.) put into the pot and turn on low for about 1 hour. They are great. I usually have 3-4 per serving depending on the size I make. They freeze well, too.

    hernia repair with band?? Anyone?

    I had the hernia and my stomach was in the wrong place. Because of these I took 6 pills a day to eat because I coughed 24/7. I had them both repaired at the surgery and my recovery was fine. One thing my doctor did give me was a prescription for liquid Zantac to take every day for one month. It tasted awful so you have to make sure you put it in a drink. I have not had heart burn or any coughing since!!!!!!!! Good luck with everything.

    My doctor gave me a prescription for liquid Zantac and had to take it for 30 days. Maybe call your doctor and ask. It tastes very bad, so you have to put it into a drink. Feel better.

    Worst part of the band so far

    Someone wrote yesterday about the drinking. I told her you will get use to not drinking. I use sit at dinner with a 1/2 gallon of iced tea and drink most of it. Now I don't drink at all.

  16. today the old f**k is 63. I looked at my license which expires today and boy I have changed in 5 years. So I am getting a new picture taken. I now have very short hair and over 75 pounds lost!!!!

    You will get use to it. My biggest problem was Chinese restaurants. I am a huge tea drinker. I never have any drinks in restaurants any more. It is for your own safety and health.

    I try everything. I can't chew lobster anymore. The only meat I can really chew well is filet mignon. I guess you just have to try. As for bread I eat the crust and not the doughy part. I had some for dinner and dunked the crust into olive oil with grated cheese. I know my dietitian is rolling her eyes as I write this, but if I do without, I will not stick to any weight loss plan. After all these years I know me better than she knows me. Tomorrow is my birthday and a lot of area restaurants offer a free meal on your birthday. I live in Boston. So after talking it over we are going to a Japanese steak house. I will have the salad, shrimp, filet mignon (because it's tender) veggies and some rice. They offer soup but I don't like soup. I hope we all helped you.

    Protien Shakes

    I buy chocolate Body Fortress. At Walmart it is under $17. I have a Hamilton Beach small blender under $20. at Walmart or Target. The blender is also your drinking cup. Arlene's recipe: 8 oz milk. 1 scoop Body Fortress, a small amount decaf instant coffee, a small amount peppermint extract and tons of ice. After I out everything in the blender, then I fill it to the top with ice. I have mini ice cube trays and the blender holds one tray. I hate breakfast foods and have been drinking this shake for 1 1/2 years and have had the band 14 months. Yesterday's shake was so thick I had to use a spoon. Good luck. Adding the coffee and peppermint kills the powder's taste.

    I want to work where you work! I am not an M&M fan, which is good. It is a great feeling not wanting to eat the candy that is there all the time. Good for you.

    Sorry to hear about all this. I have never dealt with this problem. If the doctor isn't seeing you until Friday then I would think it can't be that bad. Just take it easy with your intakes. Good luck. Your weight loss is wonderful!
