I am not a veggie lover either. For the first time this summer I learned to eat green beans. I buy only fresh ones, drizzle a little olive oil on them and a little salt and nuke them for 2 1/2 minutes on high and now I love them. I read some where it can take up to 10 times to try something before you like the taste of the food. My other favorite is butternut squash. I buy the pre pealed cubes and use Splenda brown sugar and butter or coconut oil and cook it at 400 for about 30-60 minutes until it looks well done and crispy. It tastes really super. My grandson told his mother that my squash is better than hers because it is crispy and not smooth. For potatoes, make mashed potatoes add some cheddar cheese and put in cup cake tins that you spray with cooking spray and make them crispy. They are really good. Yes I love well done things. Other than salad, which I don't use dressing, I am not a veggie person at all. Good luck with your veggies.

Hello and Intro from Jill
dylanmiles23 replied to JillC878's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome. The best thing I did was get the band. I am off all medications except for the vitamins and minerals that are required. I can walk more and longer. I have a very bad back and bad knees but I go to the gym and do what I can. Aquatic exercise is the best for sore joints but where I went closed and I never went else where. A few things I didn't do before the surgery. Take pictures and measurements. Measurements seem to go down faster than scale I have found. Good luck and keep us posted on your meetings. Arlene -
These are true and funny. I have a very large foot for a female that is 5'5 1/2". My whole life my father would say I could stamp out forest fires. Your friction comment made me think of that and another one. Many moons ago we did a day trip to Martha's Vineyard. It is just a boat ride for me and about a 1 hour car ride to the boat. We went walking to the nude beach, yes I was fat then, too. So we are walking along and I am in clothes, shorts to be exact. I complained that I was chafed. The fatonmythighs were so big that I was miserable. Hub asked a nude man for directs and I said, how can you look at a person and his penis is just hanging there. It was an experience.

Either on the Doctors or Dr. Oz said you will pass gas about 25 times a day. Some days it is a lot more.

Jealousy!!! Or she doesn't know what to say or how to react toward the band. Tell her you are the same person you always was but now you have a 'tool' to help you because you needed help and you would still like her help and her in your life. Put it into her court and see where it goes. Then you will know if she was a true friend or just needed you when her life wasn't perfect. There are so many users, it is sad. We are all here for you and to help you. I use to 'belong' to a group of friends when I was a wealthy business owner. I since lost the business and live now SS check to another. They are all gone from my life-go figure! My husband and I are the same people but have a lot less money. People?!? Have a great day.

How many calories to exercise do i need
dylanmiles23 replied to kate85's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hi, Exercise is great to get into shape. I don't think you are taking in enough calories at all. Have you talked to your doctor and or dietitian about these low numbers? I had one dietitian who said you can't lose weight properly with low calories. Good luck. -
I read somewhere, WLS patients that see their doctors all the time do better and have better results. That makes sense to me.

i burp all the time and also fart too. I noticed I burp the loudest after I eat too much. When I get stuck and walk around, when I burp, I then feel better. I was told by others it is normal.
-
yes they are. I have one almost every night about 1-2 hours before my dinner. That way I know I am getting in veggies. I don't use any salad dressing, though. Never have had any in my life. Ask your dietitian about them. I add sunflower seeds and shredded cheese to mine, also. Just remember to chew chew chew real well. Lettuce can be a problem.

First consultation tomorrow
dylanmiles23 replied to sweetrose1979's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You best bet is to ask your doctor and or dietitian. Everyone of them is different with their advice. I am losing slowly and knew I would. I guess some people who have to lose 150 or more lose real fast at the beginning. I planned on 2 years to get to a goal. Since I think, February or March I am down only around 5 pounds. But I am doing great. I have had 3-4 fills for a grand total of 2.2 or 2.4cc. See every doctor is different. Mine goes slow and others do 4 cc at one shot. -

Congratulations on your new journey. I don't think you will regret it. I didn't. People lose all different amounts of weight. Some people on this site have lost over 200 pounds. I am down around 80 since my pre-op. I had the band July, 2012. My doctor is thrilled with what I weigh now but I would like to lose more. Also not just pounds but inches make a huge difference. I wore a size 18-20 w and now wear a size 14 jean. That doesn't suck! -
Banditos everywhere I go!
dylanmiles23 replied to Bandista's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't believe your date is almost here!!! That is so great. Interesting that medical staff are getting banded instead of the other 2 surgeries. Maybe they all know something we don't. Stay warm in NH. -

Getting banded on Tuesday... Worries
dylanmiles23 replied to txgirll's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will be fine. Just follow your doctor and dietitian's rules. No one is 100% perfect all the time. Good luck. -

[quote name=krissy ' timestamp='1382320107' post='2064196] I guess I thought I'd loose more than the one pound since 8/2 LOL I actually gained weight after I got out of surgery because they had to fill me w/ so many fluids... my blood sugar dropped in the 40s... but I am ready to get back w/ the program. I am hoping that one cup of food will fill me up... I can eat a cup, then still feel very hungry... I feel like there isn't even a band on .... except when I have tried meat. Does anyone know how many cc's the dr. filled them with to get to your happy point? I have only gotten 3 cc's about a month ago. I really appreciate all of your support!!!! I was banded July, 2012 and have had I think 4 fills for a total of 2.2 or 2.4. My doctor goes slow. He likes me at the weight I am and said if I stay where I am he would be thrilled. Have your measurements changed at all? I know my sizes go down. I try to get to the gym 4-5 times a week. I do what I can and don't kill myself, but it beats being over weight and sitting on my old fat ass all day. I had a fill 2 weeks ago, very tiny and it did make a big difference. Good luck. -
Good luck with your husband's new journey. The best person to ask about foods and being hungry is your husband's dietitian. Every doctor has their own rules for adding foods and when. I have a very strict doctor and I have seen on this site that some doctors allow food earlier. I love SF Popsicles. I buy Edy's in the fruit flavors. They have a little more calories but the taste is worth it. The box has 3 flavors and one is Kiwi.

I have been around the same weight for 6 months. My doctor is pleased with what I weigh and said if I stay where I am he is thrilled. Ask your dietitian for help.

Good for you trying to or getting the help you need. I would think that 95% or more of the people that have WLS can lose weight just fine. They just can't keep it off and they all needed the extra help of the most wonderful tool in the world called, The Band! I know the band keeps me in place. I am eating much less and much healthier foods than ever. I even enjoy the gym now. I think I am a lot older than you and wish that there was something like this when I was in my 30's, not 60's. My health is much better, too.

Congratulations Daddy and mommy !!

Good luck with your new journey. I was a little nervous as I was getting wheeled into the operating room. My surgery was for around 2pm and the sleeve surgery before me had problems so my surgery was now 7pm. I said to the doctor I don't know if I want this and he said whatever you want. Boy! I am so happy I went through with it. The best thing I did for me and my health!! Buying clothes that don't say 'plus' is fun. Fitting into a restaurant booth. Getting off all my previous meds. It is totally up to you. Good luck with whatever you decide. We are all here to try and help. Arlene
