Happy TGIF and thank you getting us back on line. I do a few other blogs/web sites about WLS. One person said when you buy grapes and apples to fill the sink/bowl with Water and vinegar. The water will turn very dirty but they clean up nicely. I just washed grapes and the water was gross. Better that, than eating all that dirt that I have been doing for many years. I always thought I washed my fruit good, guess not. Enjoy your weekend and clean fruits.

How are you feeling/doing? Stay warm. It is cold here so you must be colder.

The person I do Face Book recipes with posted it. She said that strawberries last for a few weeks. You fill the sink and add 1 cup of vinegar. I used a large bowl and only soaked them for about 5 minutes, if that. She said 10 minutes. But the Water turned very dirty which is a good thing for cleaning fruit.

Happy Bandversary. You look amazing. I love your Halloween outfits. Sad but I was in HS then. I am getting older but thinner! -
I washed off the vinegar and dirty water. The grapes tasted great. I was told that also it prolongs the life of the fruit. The person who posted it told me also to do it to berries but I don't eat them.

I'm getting frustrated
dylanmiles23 replied to vincereautmori's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started Oct., 2011 and had the surgery the end of July, 2012. My hospital was taken over by a big Boston one so new doctor, new dietitian, new staff. Don't give up. I am thrilled with my results so far. I know the weight took years to put on and will take a long time to take off. I figured 2 years to reach a decent weight/size. Good luck. -
Surgery tmrw / having second thoughts

First, congratulations! I never looked into the pros or cons of any WLS. my lung doctor told me to get the band, made the appointment and I didn't find this site until after the band. Regrets-yes, why wasn't it recommended years ago. I love my BAND!! I almost backed down, why, because I was scheduled for 2pm and was taken at 7pm. The woman before me, the sleeve, had problems. My doctor said, do what you want. I am so happy I went with the band. My health has turned around. No meds except the vitamins and minerals that you need to take. I now love going to the gym. I can walk around BJ's without being tired. Good luck!! Arlene -

WOW, you lost a real lot of weight, congrats! As far as the gym, maybe start slow and work up the time. I know I was doing about 45-60 minutes and over the summer, I almost never went. Now I am just about 30 minutes. But 30 is better than 0. Also, while at home I try to move around a lot and bend my knees, try to kick my ass. Good luck. Just don't over do it or you won't do anything.

Congratulations on your one year. Tomorrow morning call your doctor. You are not the first or last person to go bad. Dust yourself off and tomorrow is a new day and a new you! Good luck.

I took a wrong turn. :(

While I was getting all my pre op stuff done, I decided then to start having a protein shake every morning for breakfast. So from my highest weight (March, 2012) until my band (July, 2012) I lost 28 pounds. My breakfast's consisted of carbs and more carbs. I don't eat eggs. Maybe try something like that or have protein bars when hungry instead of snack foods. Good luck with your journey. -

Anniversary and Before/After

Happy 4 years to you!!!!!!!! You look super. Would never know you ever had a weight a problem. Thanks for sharing. -
I went to my PCP today for a check up. We were talking about me being stuck lately. I got a very small fill about .5 3-4 weeks ago. I told her I thought it was my chicken. I told her my protein shake recipe which includes peppermint and she said peppermint can cause this. She used some fancy words and showed me with her fingers what the peppermint can do to you. I also told her I have chocolate mint protein bars and she wants me to stop eating the mint. Anyone else having problems with peppermint?

very interesting. Are you allowed to chew gum? I am not, ever. My surgeon said if I ever swallow gun it has to be surgically removed.

I never leave home without a protein bar. i buy Cliff because they have 20 grams of protein. My dietitian told me to buy those.

I eat a lot of meatballs. In fact I made some for dinner. They are easy to chew and go down nicely and are considered a mushy. I also make sweet and sour meatballs. Mashed potatoes, butternut squash those are soft and easy. When out, also when out a burger. I usually eat 1-2 bites of the roll and can figure out about 4 oz. I don't eat soup but a lot of people have this out and it is also safe and easy. I eat out all the time. I love salmon, shrimp, Chinese food. Last night I had salad with salmon and the night before salad with shrimp and both restaurants were Italian. For once I was good and didn't have pasta at either.

On the islands you see people dressed like that. In Aruba I saw lots of 48D's topless and men dressed like that. They weren't from the states. They aren't shy, we are.

I love your little people helpers. Thank you. Your question about cold and snow. Today it got colder, about 50, over 65 yesterday but no snow here. I am very close to Boston, so I usually get the same weather as there. Jim who posts on here lives further north than me, almost to NH, he'll have snow way before me. Eye Candy

Congrats on getting the band. I know when I got mine a year ago July, I couldn't go in the pool (I live in a condo) for 4-6 weeks. Best to check with your doctor. Every doctor has their own rules for everything I didn't tell a lot of people then or now about my band. Not their business. I also don't share how much I weighed or how I have lost with anyone including my 2 sons. This way they don't have to lie when asked. I am private about how large I was. Good luck, Thursday is my wedding anniversary, so you picked a good date.

I feel bad for you being stuck, I have been a few times lately. The feeling you have now maybe from your throat being sore. Maybe try some hot tea. Also, call the doctor's office I know mine has 24/7 coverage. That is why the doctors are there. Feel better. Also, sucking on a popscile never hurts.
