Living my Lapband Life Below Goal Weight

Grocery Shopping Carts and Being Nosey
dylanmiles23 replied to 2muchfun's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I could have written that also. I look at everyone, not just grocery shopping. I was once at a Bette Midler concert with my oldest brother, his wife and my husband. During the intermission my brother and I criticized every person's clothes. Our spouses don't give a shit about what's around them. When I see overweight people and the unhealthy foods they buy, I feel like saying something. When I see obese children, I want to really speak my mind. I have an obese son since he was little. I took him to every program, doctor etc. in Boston. He is now 35 and slowly losing on his own. Still over 300 but it is less than 400 when he was 17. My other son is under 200, same house, same parents. Same height, 6'2". So to get back to the subject, I look at what i buy for my husband and I think , this is so wrong. -
Starting Liquid diet soon, please help
dylanmiles23 replied to Its-time's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck with your new journey. I love the band. For shakes I use only chocolate. I buy Body Fortress at Walmart it is under $18. In MA there is a food store where it is less than that. I have a small Hamilton Beach blender that is also the drinking cup. I use 8 oz almond milk, unsweetened, 1 scoop Protein, about 1 teaspoon of decaf instant coffee and about 1 teaspoon peppermint extract and then tons of ice. The shakes are as thick as McDonald's or Wendy's. I love them and have one every morning for Breakfast because I don't eat breakfast foods. -
only lost a pound and stalls...
dylanmiles23 replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got on my scale this morning and I was about 5 pounds less than yesterday. Oh well. Thank you for the kind and to the point thoughts. I saw that your Tars beat BC today. My niece went to BC and I know a lot of people that went there. I grew up about 2 miles from there on the main street, Commonwealth Avenue. About 2 miles down the other way was BU. Snowed today, UGH! My MIL insisted on going food shopping, so we took her. I do the driving and the shopping, hub sits and observes. Have a great weekend. Eye Candy -
only lost a pound and stalls...
dylanmiles23 replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
As my husband and I were driving home from TGIF tonight, he said we are fat. We are. He went to the cardiologist the other day and he was not thrilled. Hub gained some weight back. He is as lazy as me lately not going to the gym. Saw my WLS doctor today and he wants me back at the gym, too. I gained 3 pounds. Have a great weekend. Arlene -
I don't mind the tiny fills. I did gain 3 pounds and got no fill today. Ont eh bright side, my doctor would be fine if I stayed where I am for life. I would like to lose 40-50 more, though but then it has been over 40 years since I was that weight. As far as gyms go, I go around 1-2 and maybe there are 10 people there. All shapes and sizes and mostly older people. They do have a senior class but I am too lazy to get there at noon, M-W-F. I am a late sleeper. The weight room with the studs, is in the back and they walk through only and don't look at anyone but themselves.

Hello everyone. I haven't been writing lately but I have been reading. Sorry, just been busy with life. Today I go for a 3 month check up and I failed. How did I fail? I didn't lose any weight but stayed within 3-5 pounds of my last visit. When I go and get a fill it is very tiny under .4cc. My doctor goes slow. I have not been to the gym since November but I pay every month. Joke of the day: What do gyms call people like me, who pay and don't go? Profit!! I had an ugly thing on my forehead and had it removed the other day and have 2 blue stitches. So right now bending over makes me a little dizzy. But I have gym clothes on. I bought a new 'outfit' yesterday. The real Arlene likes outfits not separates. I am nuts. When I skied many moons ago (I learned at 40) my skis, boots, poles and my ski outfits all matched and had the same colors. I am nuts. I am so nutty that I have sox to match sweaters. Orange stripes. I buy men's sox because I wear a size 12 shoe. So soon I will be at the doctor's and he won't be pleased with my weight not being down. Everyone have a great weekend. Please cheer for the NE Patriots!!!! We need a super bowl, because we are Boston Strong. Speaking of Boston Strong, that came after the marathon bombings, the RMV just approved a new license plate with Boston Strong on it! Some of the money will go to the marathon survivors. Enjoy your weekend. Arlene

LapBand... Wasted Time, Money, & Pain. Now having the Sleeve
dylanmiles23 replied to abjackso's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wish you luck with your new WLS. Unfortunately no one surgery is fool proof. There will always be people who knock another WLS. I will never say bad things because I had a problem. Not just with WLS but with any. I had a small mole removed and it turned into MRSA. Oh, well shit happens. I won't knock mole removable, so please don't knock the band, that I love. Feel better and I hope the sleeve doesn't cause any problems. -
Complications can happen to anyone!
dylanmiles23 commented on ♕ajtexas♕'s blog entry in ajtexas's Blog
I feel so sorry for your complications. You had mentioned that you loved your TT. Thank you for sharing, the good, the bad and ugly. Nothing is ever perfect even though we try so hard. I am happy you are back here. Feel better and keep in touch, we do miss you and the yellow roses of TX. Arlene -
Hi. I have been the same weight for a real long time because I am lazy. Even though your scale is the same have your measurements changed at all? Sometimes the inches go before the weight. Keep up with the exercises because I haven't gone to the gym in real long time but I pay every month. I know, I am bad.

That was wonderful and honest. Thank you. Good luck with your band. I love mine.

Hiatal hernia and banding
dylanmiles23 replied to aubreynichole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your new journey. I had problems and my lung doctor did the cameras etc. and he told me I had the hernia and my stomach was in the wrong place. I had them both repaired when i got the band. I took pain meds for about a week. Also for 30 days i was given liquid Zantec. Do you have any? Ask for help. That is why the doctors and their staff are there. Good luck and feel better. -
Congratulations on your new life!! I can't believe how fast from start to finish. WOW. I love the band. You are so young, you have the rest of your life to enjoy your children and run and play with them. I can play, not run with my grandsons. Louisville, isn't that where the bats are from? Louisville sluggers? Enjoy eating out. I do it all the time. Just got back from dinner. Arlene

With summer and vacations coming up...swimsuits?
dylanmiles23 replied to sherrintxs's topic in The Gals' Room
I buy from Swimsuitsforall. You can buy tops and bottoms in different sizes. They are great and have wonderful sales all the time. I even have a few coverups. I bought from Macy's this past summer, a suit with shorts with a little skirt over the shorts and it covered the top part of the fat of the thighs and the top is like a blouse. The reason I bought from Macy's this time it was gift and you say, thank you MIL for the nice gift. -
Hi, I read this after i commented about food. Congratulations on your wonderful success. i have the band and have been at a plateau for 6-9 months. My doctor is thrilled where I am but not me. I want to lose 40-50 more. I had the surgery at the BI in Boston. You are little to far for me. My local hospital, Milton, has a monthly support group that I attend. Doesn't Lowell have one?

you seem to be doing great. My doctor and dietitian told me no more Splenda. I now use Truvia which is stevia. Have you been told about this? Also, are you allowed this much bread? Maybe talk to your dietitian. Granola bars are a no-no. Do you like yogurt? I don't but that is a great snack item. Do you ever have protein shakes? I have them every morning for breakfast and they fill me for 3-5 hours. My schedule is weird because I sleep late. It is 1:00pm and I am having my morning shake. I hope I helped some.

Pizza, Hamburgers and Motivation
dylanmiles23 replied to Supkem's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations on your new journey. I wish you luck. You're going to tell me that if you came back to Boston you wouldn't have a slice of Regina's pizza, only from the North End, though. They have the world's best pizza. I have been going since I was 4, almost 60 years for me. I know from past experience (I am older than you) when I totally give up things, I want them more. I eat small slider burgers, 3-4 oz ones from the grocery store. I don't have the roll. -
Is your weight loss surgeon morbidly obese?
dylanmiles23 replied to Lapbandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A southern drawl!! My wicked bad Boston accent doesn't understand southern drawls, sorry. We talk different and have no 'R's in our alphabet. -
Is your weight loss surgeon morbidly obese?
dylanmiles23 replied to Lapbandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Terry, now you mentioned the office staff. My doctor is in 2 hospitals. The one in Boston, where I had the band, his nurse and planner /booker are huge. Where I go for followups and groups meetings, they are all very thin and fit. -
Is your weight loss surgeon morbidly obese?
dylanmiles23 replied to Lapbandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine is very thin. My MIL use to have a very obese doctor that was against 'fat' people. A funny story. My mIL dated a man she liked and when he stopped calling she decided, I have nothing to lose, so she called him. He said he liked thinner woman and his beer belly was massive! -
Are you happier now that you are thinner?
dylanmiles23 replied to Terry Poperszky's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I don't worry about gaining weight back, I worry if I will ever lose the 40-50 more that i would like. My doctor is thrilled with where I am now. I know the band will not let me get overweight again. Not having to take so many prescriptions a day, DONE! with that part of my life is worth it.
