The Biblical Case for Pro-Choice & Stem Cell Research
susannah replied to Tired_Old_Man's topic in Rants & Raves
Gday Tired, don't get me wrong, I know this is a sensitive issue and I, meaning myself would leave it there, but by all means feel free to discuss it. It really doesn't affend my sensibilities. I Just hope there will be a cure for my particular disease, because I am 36 years old and feel 70 most days. That's the way the cookie crumbles for me I guess. Susannah -
Hey Jacko, Good answer. I think that people have hijacked the term '' People of color'' which was supposed to be an affirming and uplifting term for African American people, and have diminished it by saying ''People of size''. Just my thought about it really. Susannah

The Biblical Case for Pro-Choice & Stem Cell Research
susannah replied to Tired_Old_Man's topic in Rants & Raves
Gday Jack, I will just simply say that for people like myself who have Multiple Sclerosis I am excited by the possible advances and possible cures that stem cell research could bring. I am not religious, but I do respect that this is an area that is quite sensitive for people to talk about so I Would leave it at that. Susannah -
Hi Bronnie, Good on ya! I am being banded on Feb 2nd. I had my gallbladder out in an open procedure as a 15 year old. Yowzer! I was a month recovering from that. Where are you being banded? I am being done @ The Avenue hospital. Susannah

Hi Becky, I am boring because my name is Susannah! My sister's name is Rebecca and we call her becky! So yes I love your name. Susannah:biggrin1:

Hey Bronnie I forgot to ask you if this is your first consult with Mr Nottle. Have you had all the other tests that you have to have, namely blood tests, respiratory tests etc etc? I first considered having this surgery in 2003, after my neurologist referred me to the specialist for it. I left it until july 2006. Had talk with my GP about it again who referred me to my surgeon. Had first consult on October, and lots of tests. Second consult with surgeon in December, and surgery in Feb. You also will need clearance from your neurologist, which should not really be a problem as MS eventually effects mobility. I am not ready for that yet! Good luck. Susannah

Hi Bronnie, Well looks like we are both born in 1970 and both have MS! I had quite a severe attack last Feb, but it has gone back into its box again. Yay! I am hoping to have a long period of remission with it. I can only handle one thing at a time, namely the banding. Although those of us with MS know that the disease goes on in the body, even when you are in remission. Susannah

susannah replied to BabyGotBack's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Audree, I think the new band is being offered to both low and higher bmi patients. I am not a surgeon though, I am only going on what my surgeon told me. Hopefully Dr C can chime in with his opinion. Best of luck. Susannah -

Dr. C-Advanced Platform Lap Bands (Allergan Inc.) formerly Inamed
susannah replied to BabyGotBack's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there, I am that patient. My surgeon said they believe the AP band can facilitate more weight loss, but he didn't say it was fast weight loss. Maybe he means long term. It is supposed to be softer also, ie the actual band. Good luck with your banding. Susannah -
Advanced Platform Lap Bands (Allergan Inc.) formerly Inamed
susannah replied to priscilla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I will be having the new AP band. When I asked my surgeon about it he said that it is softer than previous bands, and that they believe it will facilitate greater weight loss. I would also be interested in further information regarding this band from Dr C, or anyone else in the loop. Susannah -
Hi, like Jess my surgeon is Mr Crosthwaite. I have found him to be very thorough and professional. He explains everything clearly and everything he requires is always in the best interests of his patients. I have found him to be both ethical and personable. Everyone has to make a decision regarding their surgeon, based on the criteria that is important to them. Good luck with it. Susannah

I Never Really Introduced Myself
susannah replied to tammyj's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Gday Tammy, good on you for putting your health needs first. If your friend thinks this is the easy way out she is sadly mistaken. Obesity is managed it is never cured. I send you all my best wishes all the way from Australia.:clap2: Susannah -
Gday, Hey I thought 10cc was a rock band not a lap band! Yes I know too much time on my hands and all that! Susannah

Hi Kati, Good for you!:clap2: My grandparents were Hungarian, and came to Australia to live a long time ago. My Hungarian is very limited as we really don't speak it in the home since my grandparents have been gone. My Grandfather's name was Bela, and my grandmother was also Kati!:bananapartyhat:. Good luck with your weight loss journey. Susannah

Hi CCW, welcome. Its good here. I am having the surgery on Feb 2nd. I am so scared and anxious about it, that I have already had one big panic attack, and am considering asking my GP to put me on Xanax just to see me through all this. I rarely take this kind of medication. I know it is for my health though. I wish you all the best in your weight loss journey. Susannah

Hi all. Well I saw the surgeon today, and I will be having the surgery on Friday February 2nd. We had quite a good discussion. I kind of flipped out though and my heart started racing when he gave me the obligatory talk about the possible risks of the surgery ie death etc. I knew that this was the case of course, but it is pretty sobering all the same. I am by nature a stress head at times, and I always instantly assume the worst. I was already thinking I must show my sister my funeral plan papers, so she knows what to do should anything happen. As I type I am still stressing about it. I am determined to make this work,so I will do my best. Scared. Susannah

I am not looking forward to being on the liquid diet, but I am comitted to following it. I don't believe I am less of a person because I have been told to follow the liquid diet. I am feeling that kind of tone here. We are all struggling with weight, and we have different health issues also that can make it harder. I don't think there should be two classes of the obese. Sorry just how I feel. Susannah

Hi Mark. Happy birthday for yesterday. You have really given your son the best birthday present, a healthy and happy father. Well done.:clap2: Susannah

Hi Becky, maybe it was your surgeon's choice for you to not have a pre surgery liquid diet, but my surgeon strictly requires it, and I am having my surgery in Australia. Good on you for your weight loss too.:clap2: Susannah
