Hi Everyone, I saw my surgeon today. Firstly he was happy that I have lost 7 kilos since the surgery. Then the bad news. He tried to put my first fill in and was unable to after several attempts. He then told me he thought that my port had flipped! I was then sent to the hospital in the afternoon to have it looked at under fluroscopy. They looked at it and then told me that it was on an angle and was not sitting flat. It was moving around like a pea on a plate, and it had come away from its stiching. They turned me on my side and were able to put a 1 ml fill in it. Basically they said it may still flip, they are not sure. The upshot of this is that I have to go back to the surgeon in three weeks, and he has mentioned if it does completely flip I will have to have another procedure to have it re opened and re stiched. I know one in 10 people can have a complication, but why me!!! I will try not to worry about it until I next see the surgeon. I just can't go through the pain again. Susannah

Hey, I hate The Fox News Network. Fair and balanced? Yeah right. The standard of journalism on Fox is terrible. What galls me is that an Australian is at the helm of the network. Rupert Murdoch is a US citizen, but he is an Australian. Susannah

Hi Dionne, I am a few weeks ahead of you in all this, but a lot of your thoughts and questions are the same as mine. I am still getting my head around how to eat properly. I guess it will take time to master it all. I am going to see my surgeon tomorrow, so I will jump on his scales to see how much I have lost. I spent $60 on scales last year, and they are crappola! I bookmarked my ticker page on my sister's computer, so I can't change my ticker until I go up there again next week. Unless someone can suggest another way of doing it. Bronnie I love Subway chicken subs! Gonna miss em! Go all out on the last supper type stuff!:biggrin1: I didn't, but wish I had squeezed in a Sub.:bananajump: Hi Loretta, Meredith, Jess, Anna, Jacqui,Mark,Angel, Fee,Karen, and all. Susannah

Hi, In Australia your weight is not on your licence. Why is it mandatory in America? Susannah -
Hi, Dionne I am glad you asked these questions because I need help on this as well. I ate a little too much tonight and my stomach hurt for two hours! Is this normal? Meredith it's great about Jay Jay's!:clap2: No more plus size clothing dept for you. Yay! Susannah

Hi, I saw The Bean on a TV screen at a sports store. It looked like a kind of novelty piece of equipment that you would use and get very sick of very quickly. Some of the exercises that you do with it looked very uncomfortable, and not back friendly. Just my two cents. Susannah

Hey Zannie, I hear you regarding solid type food. Maybe I will be brave enough to try something solid tomorrow. Susannah
-
Hey Bronnie, You know what, I actually do not miss fizzy drinks at all. I used to love a coke zero, but I have found I am not really craving it at all. Strange but true. Susannah

Hey Angel, You are one wise woman! Thanks for the tips. Susannah

Do you think Celebs & other famous people have Lapband surgery?
susannah replied to JLB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I love John Goodman from Roseanne. He is adoreable. Maybe it would help him in his obesity battle to get banded. He is an attractive man. He would be even more handsome if he dropped the weight. What about John Candy? Had he lived would he have had surgery? Susannah -
Hey Lizrbit, I have the opposite problem. I was supposed to start solids today but I am too scared to! I am scared I will make a mistake and vomit. I am still eating mushies. Susannah
-
Hey Dahlia, I can hear the sadness and stess in your words. I just want to wish you all the best with your efforts to get the band. I am sending some good vibes your way. Remember positive energy attracts positive things into your life. Take care. Susannah

Hey Karen, I didn't know you had to go through the ringer with your employer like that. What an ignorant ass! I really don't tell too many people I have MS, as they really don't have much of a concept of what it is, or they expect you to be in a wheelchair, and not walking around etc. Because I am mobile,( Some days it is easier than others) people can't grasp that I have this condition, but believe me I can feel it. Those of us with the disease need to fight anybody that would seek to put us on the scrapheap. We are valuable members of society and have a role to play like anybody else. Good on the MS Society for going in to bat for you. I don't have a whole lot of contact with them, only when I have a relapse really. Susannah

Hey Meredith, We are getting a fill on the same day next week.:clap2: My first, and your fifth. I wonder how my body will take to it? Will it be painful? Do you usually go back to liquids afterwards for a few days? Susannah
-
Gday 2nd time, Man have you been through the ringer! I was banded only a month ago, and will be getting my first fill next week. I can't say as I know what you are going through, I just wanted to say hi, and wish you all the best. Susannah
-
Angel, Have you lost 47 kgs? That is bloody sensational! Well done. Susannah
-
Hi All, Hi Angel. Welcome, and I am glad you found us. How is everybody going with their exercising? I have been told that I need to do 30 minutes a day. I have been walking, and doing home exercise dvd's. I can't afford to go to gym at the moment, so I was wondering it it would be good to go to a sports shop and just buy some hand weights and lift them at home? Anybody tried the resistance bands for the same purpose? Also do you think your body can tell the difference between pure water, and water that has got a nip of diet cordial in it? I go a bit batty having to drink 8 glasses of pure water a day. Susannah

Hi Bronnie, They give you a mild sedative when you are admitted to calm your nerves, so you are not sitting around stressing too much. It is great that you didn't have to do the sleep study. That is a positive. Not long now, and you will be on your way to being a new woman. Susannah

Hi Everybody, I forgot to tell you all something. I read that bogus story in the Women's Day about Oprah considering being banded. What really pissed me off was when it was stated that she decided to not '' Take the coward's way out" by being banded. Also that she decided to lose weight " The only Honest way" by dieting. Are we cowards for being banded? I think not. I think that we are actually very heroic, by stepping up and saying '' I need to do something about my weight. I need help". Are we dishonest? I think not. We are facing the truth about a disease that could claim our lives, and we are facing it head on. We are very honest, and ethical. I hate those women's rags. They just make up stories to try to destroy lives. Susannah

Hey Girls, I got the Mederma gel. It was forty dollars. It should help to make the scars more faint. I won't be wearing a bikini any time soon though. Susannah
-
Hi Jess, Thanks so much for the input, because you have been at this for a while now,you know more than me. It was strange but today I had the opposite happen. I had half a cup of mushies and I was full! Somedays I can eat more, and some days less. Is this normal? I am going to drive you nuts with all the questions.:biggrin1: I am going to see Mr Crosthwaite next wed. Susannah
-
Bronnie, One week to go!:biggrin1: Yayyyyyyyy!!!!! Susannah
-
Hey Banditos,:biggrin1: How are we all? Anna I am sooooo excited for you mate!:biggrin1: That is so excellant about the clothes. They have some nice stuff at Big City Chic. You are not going to be a customer of theirs for long though coz you are goanna be too skinny!!!! Meredith, I think I might have a fortnightly Starbucks. I just won't have any asparagus. I got the Mederma gel today. Forty bucks a pop. Dionne, The tenderness around the port will abate after about a few weeks. I find I am now able to sleep on both sides , whereas before I could only sleep on my right side. I did mushies for two weeks, after the initial two week liquid phase. Tomorrow I am starting solids. I am packing it, because I had half a cup of mushies today, and I was full. What is going on? I have not even had a fill yet. Is it normal to make mistakes while you are still learning how all this works? Karen gday. Susannah
-
Hey Meredith, I have heard that bandsters can not eat asparagus because it is too fibrous.Six days a week exercising, you are on fire! Karen, How are you? Are you finding that you are still losing weight? Gday Dionne, Bron and all. I saw a lady on A Current Affair who had been banded two years ago, and has lost 80 kgs. Anybody catch that? One more question. Is it ok to have an occasional Starbucks small skim chai latte, Or will that stop me from losing weight? I have very few pleasures these days. I will stop having them if I hear they are a no go. Getting my first fill next week. Onwards in the weight loss battle my comrades!:biggrin1: Susannah
