Just Ranting About Not Getting Help...

Well said. I have to admit that my 5 year old has been a big help. He is always so eager to help daddy.

    My Food Funeral.

The premier shakes are pretty good. I've used the post-op and they have help tremendously with 30g of protein each. My doc actually recommended them. Pre-op I had Bari-essential shakes. They were not bad. As a tip get some sf torino syrups, instant decaf coffee. Throw it in the blender with some ice and you have a pretty decent frappachino tasting shake. You will want to find some flavorings to change things up once in a while. PB2 powdered Peanut Butter with a chocolate shake gives it a peanut butter cup taste. Just a couple of tips.

    The Wait

I will second the being on track helping with the weight loss. I was at 357 while jumping through the insurance hoops. During that time I was able to loose 34 lbs on on a low-carb high protein diet. Since proteins are of such high importance post-op it seemed the natural way to do it. So I started my 2 week pre-op diet at 323. By my surgery date I was 299, and I am 13 days out and at 275. I strongly believe that already having my body used to losing weight has helped m post op. So start what you can now get your body used to giving up the fat and it will be very beneficial post-op.

    Surgery Date August 27Th

I would plan for 2 nights. It is possible that you may only need 1 night. I needed 2 nights my BP was a bit high, once they figured out they weren't giving me the correct dosage of BP meds they let me go.

    15 Weeks In 2 Days!

Great job!!! Keep up the good work, and I do mean work. I know alot of people say that we "took the easy way out". Those are the uninformed. There is very little that is easy about this path.

New Sleever :) Introduction To Me..

I've found that cutting the isopure with crystal light helped alot, and definitely over ice. I will help make sure you get both protein and liquids in.
  8. Thanks for reminding me of that. I also add peanut butter and it does taste like a Reese cup. I use the PB2 peanut butter powder it is great and alot easier to deal with than real peanut butter. You should give it a try.
  9. GIve the premier nutrition shakes a try. They are pre-made and have 30g of protein/11 oz. They don't taste that bad, but like all they can be enhanced with a little SF torino syrup or decaf instant coffee. Here is the link to their website. http://www.premiernutrition.com/protein-shake.html I get 18 for $24.00 @ costco. Works out to about 1.33 per shake.

  12. What? grits are great. However, I don't think I will be getting any of those anytime soon. I'm more than a week from mushies and In;t sure where my doc stands on them. I may have to find out.
  13. The first day I was out of it from the meds. Didn't get up an around until after 8 or 9. I did walk alot. I may have been able to go home the next day but my BP was a bit too high. Once they got me the correct dosage of BP meds things went to normal and I was able to leave.

  16. I'm 5'11". Highest weight was 357 in early march. 323 when i started my 2 week pre op diet. 299 day of surgery 7/30. 12 days post op i'm at 278. I would like to be around 200. The normal charts say i should be 175 but i just dont think that is right for me. I have always carried alot of muscle. But you never know i'll cross that bridge when i get there.

    Overeacting?

I tell this to my daughter all the time. Information is power the more information someone has on you the more power they can assert over you. Most people dont realize it but this is a perfect example of that. It may not be something they can do to cause you any major problems, but it is an inconvience that you shouldnt have to handle. Play things close to the vest and for those that think this is easy, they are ignorant. I'm 12 days post op and I have had only liquids for the past 26 days what is easy about that?

    Having Doubts.......

You are doing this for you health. That is what is important. This is about "you" if other can't understand it is best to not involve them. I know that can be hard considering that person is your husband. Ask him does he want you to be unhealthy and why. I doubt you get an answer for that question.
