Please help!Anyone having problems blacking out or fainting problems?
auburngirl replied to TTL's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I passed out just a few weeks after surgery in the shower and then after then never again. I am about 13 months out and still have problems with being light headed. If I stand up to fast and take off walking I will almost black out and get light headed. My blood pressure has been super low. The doctor did not seem concerned. He said that the body can be so used to carrying so much weight that when you loose the heart does not realize it has to keep working as hard. He said you could have the low HR of a marathon runner. It is scary when it happens! -

I had my surgery on April 23, 2014. Greatest decision ever. I have lost around 130 pounds. I have been super happy with my success. It has been pretty steady the whole time. Recently it has gotten harder to lose but I am eating all the same things. I am not meet my Protein goals. I have done my entire thing on calories and just trying to stick to that amount of calories each day. I do a very similar program to Weight Watchers. I eat a ton of their food. Smart Ones oatmeal from Breakfast, Turkey and Chees for lunch or a TV dinner, and a meat, veggie, and carb for dinner. I always have a WW dessert everynight before bed. I have not had a proten shake since one month out. Cound not stand them. What I have done may not work for others but it has worked really well for me. Once I get to goal I have to learn to maintain. Someone told me the other day I did not need to loose any more weight. I know this is sick but it felt so good to hear. First Time Ever! The things I think that have made me most successful are a few things. I only drink water; I have timed eating, no grazing; I eat breadfast as late as I possibly can in the morning and lunch as late as I possibly can, this allows for more saved up calories throughout the evening; I try to excercise approx 3 miles 5 days per week. Just wanted to share my story. I remember when I was thinking about having this surgery I would sit on here for hours and loved to see pics. Here is a pic of me right now. I dont have one alone but it is with my husband. I also dont have a good before pic but just picture me at 300 pounds! I have lost an entire person at 130 pounds gone. To anyone considering this surgery I would highly recommend if you can make it work. It really was the best decision I have ever made! I wish I would have done it sooner!

Start and set a goal. Dont set it too high. I do the treadmill indoor 5 days per week. My goal is 4 days per week and my bonus I try to do every week is one which makes 5. Setting a goal in a week has been great for me. I just know I have to get 4 out of 7 days in. Start with something easier like say 3 days per week. Make a deal with yourself that no matter what you are going to excercise 3 days per week. In the beginnign I always try to get it out of the week as early as possible. Hope that might help. Good luck!!! I never thought this old dog could learn new tricks but I did!

Weighing in on surgery day....
auburngirl replied to tarahuff82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No weigh in for me. They weighed me at my last surgeons visit in his office the week before and not again until post op follow up visit. If there was weight requirement to have the surgery I am certain he would have told you. Good luck! Exciting times for you! -

Weight Watchers-Curves-or home treadmill?
auburngirl replied to shellbelle01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a treadmill and it has been a great investment for me. Along with a DVR on my TV in front of the treadmill. The Real Housewives are my treat and I only let myself watch if I am walking on the treadmill. Great motivation to watch your favorite shows while you excercise! -

Hang in there. 36 pounds is great! It is so hard to compare to others and can sometimes make you feel bad. Just stick to plan and you will be amazed at how fast a few pounds her and a few pounds there adds up! Good luck!

No trouble at all here. I would make low fat cheese and chicken quesadilias all the time. Very good and good leftover too! I am not be a good one to answer because I have never had problem with any food at all.

How do I rationalize having a partial gastrectomy in order to restrict food when there are people starving all over the world?
auburngirl replied to karen44's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Never thought of that before. Cant really see any comparison at all. You are not disposing of food that others could be eating. You are simply restricting your intake. If it makes you feel any better, you are eating less, leaving more for people that are starving! -
I talked myself out of it 10 years ago when I was 75 pounds less. Same thing of talking myself out of surgery. You have to decide what is right for you. I will tell you for me it is the best thing I have ever done! If you can get over the fear it will be so worth it in the end. Good luck!!

Movie night... No popcorn? Help
auburngirl replied to tiffany81's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There is something called Skinny Pop. When I went to the movies I took me some! It has 30 calories per serving. Just know eventually you will be able reintroduce stuff like this into you diet. I know it is really hard in the beginning. Hang in there! -
You are doing great to be able to work at a fast food restaurant and stay so disciplined. I know that must be super hard. sounds like you are prepared and that is the hardest part. Just add a few more planned meals into you day and that will bump you up a little to more food. Great job on your wl success!
