Sorry the iPhone app acts strangely sometimes! I've been fluctuating + and - 5 for the last 3 weeks and starting to get really discouraged! I think I need to just get my head in the game!

Surgery went well its been 5 weeks for me. Want for my first fill it was unsuccessful the nurse couldn't find the middle of my port. She jabbed me 4 times! Went back 6 days later to see the surgeon he too could not get to it. Jabbed me 5 times. He thinks the port may have flipped so I did some X-rays. The surgeon should be making a decision next week if they have to go back it an reposition it . Otherwise I'm good distracted because now that I'm healed I may have to go back!

Anyone in Toronto and had surgery at CIBO????
-
I did too! Just wondering of anyone from Toronto is on here? That's great! How long have you even banded?
-
So for this of you who knew what was going on with my unsuccessful fills. I went to see my surgeon today for my first fill and he too could not get the middle of the port. So it has been 2 drives to the clinic and 8 pokes in the stomach. And nothing! The surgeon suggested I get an X-ray. He thinks the port may have flipped over! I burst ex in tears because I'm just so ready to get this weightloss started! I mean I had surgery 5 weeks ago today. Support is much needed here!

Unsuccessful Fills? Anyone Else?
lexx replied to lexx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I didn't know what else to do buy cry! So I bawled like a baby! I mean I just excepted the fact I was actually going to loose weight! I mean this is it my year of transformation! And the possibility that I would need to do another surgery didn't sit well ( no pun intended) but I'm keeping my head up and keeping the food in check. The goal at the end of the day is still to loose weight! -

Just curious. I am to get my first fill on Monday. I have an 11cc band and the suggested amount is 5cc's isn't that a lot? I mean that's half the band? I may suggest 3 but I don't know? Why was the average of everyone's first band fill and here's the big question how much weight did everyone loose before there second one ? Thanks!

Thanks everyone, I'm very curious knowing and getting the weightless started! I had a bad experience with the nurse who was supposed to give me my first fill last Wednesday. I was poked 4 times and no fill due to the fact she could find the middle of the port! Needless to say I'm excited to see my surgeon Monday! Weightless here we come!

Hey Everyone, I just a moment to share the worse experience I had with my first fill. I went to see my surgeon but he was unavailable, so I was told I could see the nurse for my first fill. I recoqnized her, she was the same nurse who checked me in on surgery day. A familiar face was nice, considering i was a little bit nervous. She sat me down, weighed me in and explained to me what I would experience, would there be any pain etc. By the end of the conversation I felt very comfortable. Which was nice. She then asked me if I would like to stand or sit, I said whatever is easiest. She said okay stand up. I did, she put the needle in and to be honest didn't feel much of anything. About a minute of moving the needle around, she said okay I am doing to take it out. I said wow were done, she said no, I am going to have you lay down. I said okay strange but lets try again Attempt 2: I layed down with my hands over my head while she but the needle in again. This time, she was pushing a lot firmer on my stomach, which is still forming new scar tissue. There was a lot of pressure not to much pain. Then I could hear this scratching sound and realized it was the top of the needle hitting my port because she couldn't find the middle. Now in my head Im thinking "what the hell is going on" She took the needle out again. Attempt 3: When I decided to have surgery I got to choose which brand of band I wanted I went with the J&J band. After laying there, the nurse felt like it would be important to tell me that she had never filled a J&J band before. Does that sound strange to anyone else? She left the room and got the band that they show to patients and put it beside me so she could see what it actually looked like. My question to her, why would you not have done that in the first place. After another attempt, and a bloody stomach from all the holes she poked, I left very angry and without a fill. Now I have to wait until Monday to see the surgeon. I was really excited to finally get a fill and start the weight loss. Luckily I am only waiting a couple of days. But i think i am just more disappointment with how the process went.

Thanks ladies ill let you know how Monday goes! Can't get any worse.... I hope -
Hey everyone! This is a great question. I was banded on Monday aug 20. That was a Monday I did not have a BM until Thursday and let me tell you what an experience. First I got crazy gas pains in my lower abdomen then went I went it was all Water. Go figure since all I had was liquids! Same happened on Friday and I think it was just all the toxins leaving my body. As for the following weeks I've never really been regular but I'm only going maybe 2 times a week. Ive been having Greek yogurt everyday which seems to helpe, but defiantly need to start eating more fibre now that I can eat again! If anyone else has some tricks, please let me know!

Hat has everyones biggest challenges been this far? or your biggest adjustment? I've been banded for 16 days and I think I never realized how much I drink while I eat. In fact, pre-banded I remember how much Water I tried to drink while eating so I would feel full faster! now not only can't I drink while eating, I have to wait up to an hour after eating! Huh! Funny how things work!

HI, Just wanted to post to all the females out there about Birth Control. I currently take a pill and although it is very small, I am worried at some point I will need to stop talking them. Has anyone not been able to continue taking BC orally after being filled a couple of times. I have only been banded 3 weeks and am supposed to have my first fill on Sept 24. Im not too worried about my first couple of fills just curious how some woman have dealt with this situation. Now that i am banded I especially do not want to get pregnant. I have a 6 year old son and we hope to be "trying" next november 2013. I want to really be selfish over the next year and focus on my weightloss before having another baby! Thoughts?

Hey Newbie, im very new at this, but sometimes, I think and let me tell you I have only be banded for almost 3 weeks, that I really dieted the wrong way. Honestly, there is so many things I felt like i gave up while on a diet. Simple things like juice, pasta, rice etc. Not that i miss any of those things, but I just think to my self, my weight issues didn't necessarily steam from what I was eating but how much I was eating. Like i said i have only been bended for 3 weeks, but I am started to notice somewhat of a change in my mental health. What I mean by that is, obviously i am still on soft foods, but I have noticed I can't even if i tried eat as much as i used to or have a desire to. I think maybe what you should try is put the salads a way for a week and just enjoy what you love in small portions. have a half cup of pasta with tomato sauce and make your own pita garlic bread. which would turn out to less than 400 cals for dinner. Just a thought but I think you are where I have always been on a diet, bored with salad. I do love salad but goodness you can only have so much of something before you get sick of it. Try it, you never know.

These ate great! I really do love hearing that in some way or another we are all going through the same thing! Yes what I am worried about is talking to big of sips when I start to work out again!

Morning everyone! Just wanted to check in and say hi and thanks goodness it's the weekend, well long weekend for all the Canadian peeps. I was banded on 20-Aug and I feel good. The port incision is still tender but otherwise I went back to work after the first week and am feeling more and more like myself everyday. So my nutritionist has advised me of plan to for the first 5 weeks after surgery which is great. I'm currently on the full liquid stage until 4-Sept which consists of soup and protein shakes! Good god the thought of soup makes me sick to my stomach. I suppose that's how much I've eaten over the last week and a half. As of Wednesday I move on to the puréed stage for a week then soft foods for a week. Which means as of 19-Sept I can eat solids again. Seriously I'm not complaining and am following the rules but just wanted to he ideas as to how everyone has handled eatin so much of something until it makes you sick? I also haven't been drinking as much protein shakes as I should be I can only committ to 2 on a good day 3. I suppose I only have a couple of days left to deal with the soup situation.... Ideas?

The Thought Of Soup Makes Me Sick
lexx replied to lexx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks ladies.. I start puréed food tomorro, cottage cheese, oatmeal, eggs etc. Is this weird I am so excited to be able to eat this LOL! Seriously... I've all ready planned out what I'm eating and I can tell you how excited I am, but also just to be able to join the family at the dinner table without a bowl of soup in front of me. One step at a time! -

8 Days Post-Op, Gained About 5 Lbs, No Restriction, And Very Depressed
lexx replied to Lapbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so confused how can you eat regular foods already? It's only been a week right? Can you be healed in that amount of time. I have 4 stages to go through. Day 2-5 fuilds, 1.5 weeks of full liquids, 1 week puréed food, 1 week soft foods then solid foods. I would be very careful what your eating just for your sake. I mean they stitch the band to your stomach I can't image those stiches like the ones on te outside are completely healed. Just be careful. I to be honest felt hunger for the first time today and am also to eat only 1/4 to 1/2 of food at a time. -
3 Day Post-Op Having Major Trouble Drinking All Of My Protein In.
lexx replied to Nayelli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey nayelli, I was banded on Monday soninguess that makes day 5. I completely understand how you feel. I was not hingreyvatvall the first 3 days. In fact I had to force myself to have at least 1 Protein shake a day. And the first one took about 4 hours to drink. Today is day 5 and I felt my first real hunger sign. Today I actually was able to have 3 Protein shakes and a bowl of Soup. Everyday gets easier. -
Getting "regular" Again...
lexx replied to CCornell87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on day 5 and finally went yesterday but (this is too much info) is all water pretty much. Given I haven't eaten very much other than a bowl of soup and protein shakes I suppose there is not Much to come out. Today I went again and it was the same reaction just water! I suppose once I start added things into my diet agin things will regulate.
