Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Haydee replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tracy i'm jealous of your restriction. I'm gonna have to suck it up and go get another fill. Someone posted this question on the Food Thread and they didn't get a responce. I always wanted to ask it but feared that I would get mocked and ridiculed for asking such a stupid question. They're brutal out there! So, in my safe little place here I will ask it: "The band is at the bottom of our esophagus, so why does certain foods hurt doing down? I could be wrong, but I think we now have two restrictions, the band and the length of our esophagus" That was the question posed by another person. But I've always wondered the same thing. Some foods "hurt" going down my esophagus. But my esophagus is the same as it's always been. Why did after banding things start to hurt? -

Thank you for your responce. I fully expected my comment to just start another round of flaming. I understand how you feel, it does get frustrating. Those questions will always continue popping up. There will always be people that come on and start posting without looking around. It's a given. One can either ignore them or point them in the right direction. I choose to ignore (but then I feel guilty, cuz I'm Catholic, LOL). -

And on the same vein, that's the beauty of a talk forum. People are allowed to ask all sorts of questions and if you don't feel like answering them you are more than welcome to ignore them. -

Judy, that's what we're here for. To listen, to vent, to purge ourselves and our thoughts and feelings. So thankful for finding a group of supportive women like you on this site. This is my first ever forum and I hit the jackpot on my first try! -

And I also did not suffer in my childhood. I've really got no one to blame for getting so fat other than myself. My family was loving and strong. The only thing that I do notice is that we reward ourselves with food. Everything revolves around food. Every get together, every excursion has food involved. And only me and my two sisters are chunky, everyone else is thin. -

I'm doing a women's retreat at church this weekend. I want to just immerse myself in positive energy and come out refreshed. -

The unmotivation is not just happening in my weight loss it's also happening in the rest of my life. In my work, my housework, my relationship with juan, my spirituality. I just need a good kick in the pants. Or something. I too long for that girl that emerged right after banding. She was so gung ho and so motivated. -

CoffeeWench: Thank you for putting into words the exact feelings that I've been having for weeks now. I couldn't have expressed myself like you did. -

Hope everyone had a fantastic holiday weekend. We went to go spend some time with my grandmother in Mexico and she's doing wonderfully. I ate way too much but luckily didn't gain anything. I'm in the same exact boat as ya'll. So unmotivated. I know exactly what I need to do but can't seem to JUST DO IT. Love you all for being here when I'm struggling. Kat - I'm so glad to hear you are back to your old self after surgery. You bounced back quick!! I love home roasted peanuts and if you were my SS all I would want is a bag of those! I haven't gotten around to getting my SS gift yet. I will do it sometime next week. I have a church retreat this weekend so I'm trying to get alot of errands run during the week. Also my boyfriend got into a car accident last Wednesday coming home from work. He's fine but his mustang is totalled. So right now we are sharing a car and that just screws up my schedule. I'm gonna go back and catch up now. I'll talk to ya'll later... -
Why does this thread have to become another thread filled with sarcastic comments? Can anyone just talk anymore without responses being filled with snide comments and sarcasm? The OP said that she needed to get that off her chest and she has done that. She did it in the appropriate spot. Nothing wrong with that.

Hope everyone is ready for the holidays! I’m sitting here bopping along to Christmas music already. I love Christmas music! Let’s see, my taste in music is also eclectic. I would take with me: Garth Brooks – Greatest Hits Reba McIntire – Greatest Hits Dixie Chicks – Fly Rocio Durcal (Spanish singer) – Greatest Hits Mana (Spanish Rock Band) – Greatest Hits Never realized that I would have three country music CD’s in my top 5! Too funny, but those are my all time favorites. I’m such a music dork. My top 5 is not too eclectic but overall my ipod has everything from classical to r&b to tejano music. The only thing I don’t care for is rap. The stuffing that we make at our house is not your traditional bread stuffing. Ours contains no bread. It contains: Finely chopped pork Finely chopped beef Raisins Apples Plantains Carrots Sliced almonds Jalapenos Onions Olives Cinammon Brown Sugar Drop of vinegar It is absolutely delicious! -

Ok, I had this looonnnggg post and when I hit post I think the website went down. Was it just my computer? No se... This is a very condensed version of the original post: Whew! I'm so glad I'm not alone! I wonder if this funk is normal in the weight loss cycle. I wouldn't know, I've never actively pursued weight loss for this long... I had a great weekend. We celebrated my dad's 50th birthday. My sisters and I threw him a huge surprise party. He was beyond surprised! I'm so glad everything went so smoothly, we've been planning for a month now. I’ll try to post pics. I have such an issue when I try to post them. They come out huge! Oh I know, I’ll post a link to flickr! What are everyone's plans for Thanksgiving? Do you stay home and cook or go somewhere else? Ok, I'm off to get my oatmeal... -

Duh, I forgot the most important part of the salad, the chicken! One grilled chicken breast, diced into cubes. -

I feel like I'm about to pop too. What happened to my restriction? I made a black bean/corn salad and I couldn't stop eating it. I ate a big bowl of it. And now I feel like I'm gonna burst. Oh my. I hear all of ya'll talking about PB'ing on everything. I wish!! Well no, not really, but I do wish that there were foods out there that would be impossible for me to eat. Now that I think of it I don't think I've ever actually PB'd. Nothing has ever come back up. I've had things get stuck and I've sat there sliming but they go through after awhile. Pancakes, cereal, spageti (sp) and a tortilla once. Those are the things that got stuck. Those are the only things I fear. Black bean/corn salad recipe: 1 can corn, drained 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained 1/2 small purple onion 1 tomato Juice of one lime 1/4 bunch of cilantro, minced about 6 leaves of romaine lettuce, cut into strips 1 small seeded jalapeno (optional) salt according to taste Combine all ingredients in a big bowl. Makes two normal servings or 4 bandster servings I eat mine with tortilla chips. -

Laura - Too late. Should have logged on here first before having breakfast...LOL I'm having a rough week. We're planning my dad's 50th birthday party for Sunday and one of my sisters just isn't cooperating. It's always the same thing with her. She's too "busy" to help out and so me and my youngest sister always end up doing most of the work. This is for anything that we ever plan. All she wants to do is at the end of the soiree ask how much her third was and hand us a check. HELLO! it's not just about money. We spend hours planning and making sure everything goes right and then just because she split the cost with us evenly she also gets credit? End of rant... -

Hi chickies! Kat I hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow. You're in my thoughts, hugs... I've had the hardest time with CTCD today. It just feels like whenver I know I'm not SUPPOSED to eat something, that's the day I crave it the most. Most days I just go about my day not really thinking of food. Just at lunch or dinner mostly. But today and Tuesday all I could think about was the cookies in the break room, the candy in my co-workers desk, LOL. I have serious issues. Oh and Househuntress, I sometimes have port pain too. So weird. It usually happens when I eat "too" much. It's almost as if the food is pushing up against the band and therefore displacing the liquid that's in the band and then pushing the liquid towards the port opening. Those are just my crazy musings of course, could be nothing like that. But yes, I thought I was the only one. -

Good morning everyone, Judy - I'm so glad you knee feels better today. No swelling at all? Terry - I'm gonna try to email Josie just to make sure she's doing ok. Have you talked to Michelle? I've gotta get down to the bead store sometime this week. I've got five bracelets to make for Christmas presents. That's the only thing I know how to make right now but luckily they look so good that everyone wants me to make them one! Pam - how are you feeling? Are you still on antibiotics? I'm still coughing and a little congested but I'm just trying to fight it with Theraflu. TracyKs - does your son get along with Cody? Maybe having a little brother will improve his attitude. TracyK - aaahhh, another relaxing day for you. I wish I had your job. Speaking of jobs, I'm looking for a new one. I'm trying to figure out what my passion is. What makes me happy? Never thought that this would be so hard. Jenn - Hugs to you. I'm so sorry about your aunt. Please know that at least her suffering has ended and she's free from illness and hospitals. Janie - 2X pants are tight on me too. I can't seem to lose from my bottom half. What size are you on top? Right now I'm a 14/16 on top and a 22 bottom. Can you imagine how I look? That's quite a difference... Oh well, at least I'm not a tight 26 anymore. That's my only consolation. Hi Laura! Are you back to doing Atkins? When are you scheduled for your next fill? Michelle - Has your restriction gotten better or are you still able to eat eat eat? Mine is just a little bit tighter but I'd like to be even more tighter. I think I'm gonna stay here for awhile and see what happens. Any word on a fill appointment? Janie said Thursday, right? Let's hope she's right! -

I saw that we got some pictures of houses but won't click on the links just yet or i'll be here waiting for the pictures to upload until tomorrow. Cut the Crap Day, huh? I like that. So far no crap today so I'm doing good. Won't attempt to log in again this weekend, it just takes too damn long, LOL. I'll talk to ya'll Monday... -
help? dr maese or other dallas area doc?
Haydee replied to 2thebeach's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've never been to Dr. Maese but you have a doctor that is close to you. Her name is Dr. Stephanie Eijsink. She sees patients on Saturdays only and she has an office in Bryan and one in Tyler. Call her husband Han and set up an appointment with him. She charges $200 and it's done under flouro. I've had three fills with her so far and she's wonderful. -
Here is her number
