WOW jenn. You have some willpower... 10 days!
-
oooohh Laura, that sounds very interesting... Keep sharing your parenting tips, very informative! is Carson already six months?? oh my he's growing up so fast!
-
Jennifer - good for you! You are doing fantastic! Keep it up! I too started to take back control last week and so far am doing pretty good. I found an old friend from college on Facebook and turn out that she lives in the neighborhood across the street from me. And she's a gym nazi. So when we got together last week I told her I was struggling and she told me that she would be my personal trainer. Worked out every day and she pushes my ass. I'm keeping a food journal everyday and she checks it and makes recommendations on what I need to change up to get maximum benefit. Awesome awesome... Since I've been going to the gym every single night I've really had to relinquish control of some stuff at home and guess what?? IT'S FINE. Juan's been in charge of laundry and helping me mop and stuff like that and he does a good job. I get home and throw something together for dinner and he eats it. Stopped being picky when I stopped asking him what he wanted, LOL. Coffee is calling my name...

Happy Monday to you girls!! I'm sure all the moms are so happy to finally have some peace and quiet! Hot here today like usual. I'm so ready for October so we can have cooler weather. We went swimming yesterday and stayed in the pool till way past 11pm and we weren't even cold. Gonna grab some coffee and get my day started...

That sounds like my sisters "purple" streaks. Each time she gets in the pool they turn a light green color so then she has to go home and paint them purple again. Too funny. I can't believe that she's already in middle school! She looks like such a little girl...

Hi Pammy! Glad you're home ok. How is your brother doing? I was thinking about him and his situation the other day. Hope he's doing well... Michelle - Claire looks so happy! What happened to her pink hair! Or was it blue? I don't remember!
-
I'm here. I thought it would be weird for me to keep talking to myself like I usually do so I just shut up... Hope you find your bible. It'll be in the last place you look, LOL... Jane - When did you get sick? I'll have to read the Time Travelers wife before I see the movie. I heard the book was good...

Good morning ladies... I am officially the crazy dog lady on my block. We rescued another dog this weekend. Sigh... He's a pitbull mix so there is no way in heck I'm gonna find a home for her so I think we will end up keeping her... She's got terrible mange right now and very undernourished. Taking her to the vet today. I had to quarantine her away from my other dogs because mange spreads and it broke my heart to have her confined in our bathroom. But she was a sweet heart and didn't complain. We put up a baby gate on the door and she would just stare at us but never whined or anything. Poor baby. Hopefully I get something for her that will relieve her of her itchiness. My weekend was pretty relaxing other than that... Friday we went out to dinner with friends. Saturday I went and picked up my books from the library in the morning. I started reading The Glass House around 2pm. We were meeting friends for dinner and had to leave the house at 7:30pm. I didn't want to put the book down! I finally jumped in the shower at 7:00pm and barely got my hair dry and my dress over my head before we had to go. Our reservations were at 8:30 and the restaurant was all the way across town. We got home past midnight and I threw my dress off, cleaned my makeup off and layed in bed reading the rest of the book. So so sad but it was so riveting... The next one I'm reading is called Handle with Care. I just started it yesterday but so far it's good too. It's about a child with the brittle bones disease. And I think that her parents are going to try to sue the OB/GYN because they weren't told "soon" enough about her disease so that they would have the option to abort? I think that's where it's heading... They just met with the lawyer so we will see...

Okay I'm leaving. Wonderful Friday is finally here! I am going swimming for awhile and then out to dinner with some friends. Sunday we are going to the beach and doing some fishing. Everyone have a great weekend. For all the traveling Violets, stay safe! Bye!
-
Michelle - if you find it hard to find time to sit down and talk to your hubby maybe you might consider doing it when you both go to bed at night? I feel like sometimes that's the only time we have to really talk talk is right before we drift off to sleep...
-
Heather - I love canoli and yes, unfortunately it's very band "friendly" lol... goes right down! OH my gosh, I feel so so bad for your cousin Lindsey. Especially since it's her leg! Juan played baseball all through his youth and in high school he was being offered scholarships and was being scouted by minor league teams. Then he tore his ACL on his elbow. He never pitched again. Hasn't picked up a baseball since... Laura - is Carson still staying with your mom on Saturdays? If so then you will get some rest tomorrow!
-
Tracy - no, I haven't decided on the dress yet. I won't start trying stuff on until December. I'm "trying" to see how much I can lose. Umm, it's not really working, LOL. Jane - the only thing I know how to do with blueberries is a cobbler. Let me know if you try the banana blueberry thing. I would think that combination tastes good!
-
Morning girls... Pammy - I hope you have a good weekend. Stay strong. And 9 hours with your brother isn't that bad. Could be worse! Love you. Terry - Things sound very difficult for you right now but I get the sense that you have better coping mechanisms this time around. Sounds like you had a good time with Hannah at the gym. Keep doing that. Even if your eating is not so good as long as you keep moving and spending time with her it will help you both physically and emotionally... Jenn - STAY STRONG. You are doing so good so far. Keep up with you, with your kids and with your routines and don't leave time to wallow in the misery that he always brings to your life. I can always tell when he's touched your day. You sound sad and blue and it SHOULDN'T be like that. Jane - I was cracking up this morning when I was reading your post about the colonoscopy. ohmygawd the nerve of these people to argue with you when you tell them that you would have remembered getting something shoved up your a$*, lol. Too too funny... Suzie - mmmm burgers sound so good. It's been way way too hot to grill here... We are waiting on the fall to start doing our outside stuff. For now we are contect to stay in the A/C. Kat - the fair sounds like so much fun! We haven't been to one of those in years! Poor rabbit! Judy - have fun this weekend! The property your son bought sounds amazing. We've always thought about some day buying an acre or two and building a house on it. Someday... I'm so so glad today is FRIDAY! Yay yay yay. I've got tons of work to finish today but I'm in such a good mood. My house is clean, I have nothing pending this weekend. We are going fishing on Sunday. Life is good for this chica... My boss got a new little flip camera today so he's going around filming us. I'm so so glad I decided to forgo makeup and stay up late last night and have a glass of rum punch. Bloated and blotchy is exactly how I want to appear on our office video post on Facebook...

Suzy - I already am a big FAIL on CTCD. I had two cookies with my coffee... BUT the day is young and I can still recover... Judy - I love when you eat pasties because i laugh a little every time I see that word... Pamela - I need to get one of those old school head bands too because I sweat like a pig and the sweat stings my eyes... Thank you Jenn. Let me know the dimensions of the box and how heavy it is and I can send you a UPS label and all you have to do is drop it off at UPS... I am supposed to be reconciling my bank statements... Instead I'm chatting on IM with my sister about wedding plans, lol.
-
Hot and HHHHHUUUUMMMMIIIIDDD here too... Rained yesterday so today it's hard to breathe with the air so thick... Hey, where is Judy? Judy, are you swimming?

Okay so yesterday we started our first SALSA dancing class. It was so much fun! It was just the basics but it still felt good to be able to move to a rithym (sp?) and not look like a total spaz. He said that in 4 months we will be out there looking like pros! Ha ha ha, he's funny, huh? But anyways, love the dance teacher. He made the class fun, not just technical. He was making us laugh and the pace was just right. Juan will join me after 4 weeks of lessons because according to him "he doesn't need to learn the basics", ha ha ha. It's me and my mom and my sisters going right now. We want to talk my dad into going too. We'll see how that works... I've been craving sushi for a few weeks now. I don't know why? It's just the rice and the wasabi and the fish. I tried just having the fish without the rice but it's not the same. And I slime big time on rice so I don't even try...

Good morning girls! Kat - you make some very good points. Thanks for listening to my grumblies... Oh and post the corn pic on FB. I love looking at miss kinsey. She is just too cute for words! Jenn - You are doing so good!!! Don't worry about your legs growing. It's probably muscle because you're walking/running so much?? You sound like you're doing better and better emotionally every week too. Keep up with yourself like you have been and keep sharing with us here. I love having you posting again! Oh and I'll take those shorts and jeans from you. I won't fit in them anytime soon but my sister will. She's a 14P... TracyKS - You sound like you are doing fantastic. I'm so happy! Why did you decide to leave your house? Did you put it up for sale? Have you talked to Charles? How is Robbie doing? Judy - I saw the pics of your garden on FB. WOW it looks so amazing! I love it... I need to come have you design mine. We've been in the house for two years now and have done nothing to the backyard. We transplanted a bush from the front yard to the back but it died :/

Zucc's and Cucc's. That sounds like a band name, lol...
-
thanks for your words Suzie. I had to call Juan and tell him how much I loved him right after your message, LOL...

see i'm not weird about the bathroom because i grew up with all girls and we were just so used to having the door open and we never cared about that. that's why it was so weird to me. me and my sisters would have our best conversations while someone is on the toilet! We would shout, "i'm on the toilet someone come talk to me!" ha ha ha...

the difference is i love zucchini bread. cucumber bread, not so much... Heather - yes I agree with you. I think relationships have to have small compromises in order gain bigger advantages. One of the things we learned was we have to figure out what things in our personalities are we flexible on and what things are we just not budging on. One of Juan's things is that he hates it when I walk in on him while he's in the rest room. To me it was never a big deal and we used to have big fights about it. If I need something and he's in there I don't see the big deal with just opening the door and getting it. I eventually learned that this is very important to him and I had to just STOP. This was such a petty little thing to me but such a huge deal to him.

Good morning girls. The heat is killing me here... I should be used it to but every summer all I do is complain, lol. Kat - I agree on the comment you made about the kids. I see it happen all the time. I have much to learn about kids and marriage though and lots of navigating to do. I talked about that issue with Juan last night and how I felt it was demeaning to him to praise him for being on time. He suggested not praising him for being on time but every once in awhile acknowleging that he's been on time for the past few events since I know how hard it is for him to get his timing under control. I agreed to do that. WOW, compromise...
-
aww Terry that sucks. I'm sorry that this happened. I think you did the right thing though... Stay strong. We love you...

I meant to ask ya'll... We had our first meeting with the marriage counselor last week. She asked us what was one of the major "arguments" that we had on a recurring basis. I told her that it was about time. That I always like to be on time for stuff and Juan can NEVER be on time for anything. I have to lie to him and tell him things start at X time when in reality they start 1/2 hr to 45 min later just so that we're not late. After some counseling about it and some back and forth between us one of the things that she told me what I also needed to start doing was to THANK him when he managed to be on time. I didn't say anything just kinda looked at her. Seriously? We need to THANK our husbands for doing something that a responsible adult would normally do? I didn't get her reasoning? Is it like they are children and you try to get something through positive reinforcement? Like GOOD BOY, you made it on time, GOOD BOY.... And then over time he'll love the GOOD BOY's so much that he'll want to be on time to hear them?? I'm making a joke but is this really how it's done?

For the cucumbers, when I made that it turned into a soggy mess. The cucumbers let off so much water. How do I prevent that? Do I have to toss it right before we eat?
