    Severe Hair Loss

I should have added to my post earlier.... 3 years ago I developed a cardiomyopathy, and about 3 months later, my hair started to fall out. BUT-- It grew back. I got it cut short ( I actually thought about shaving it all off, but then Britney Spears did it and I didn't want people mistaking me for her... LOL) and yeah, it was thin, but it grew back.. I think it grew back thicker. Anyways, I think hair loss is a small price to pay for getting to a healthy weight. I always think about those girls on ANTM who cry because they have to get their hair cut.... its all on the road to something better... now, getting back to those men with shaved heads..... yummy...

    So Disappointed In Myself :(

I am in the same boat. Sleeved Nov6th. I had lost 50lbs preop, but have only lost 16 Postop . I think my body is adjusting to my changed metabolism. I find it hard to get all my fluids in! I do better with hot fluid than anything else. But it's still a struggle!!

    Wait Time In Canada?

Wait times in BC are surgeon dependent & patient driven. I found out my surgeons criteria ( 10% wt loss, BMI,food diary etc) and I chose a surgeon who wouldn't put you on the wait list until you meet his criteria . From that time, I was less than 6 months. MSP paid fully.

    November Sleevesters?

Dont worry about the stuffy nose etc.. It would have to be in your chest before they would cancel. At least that has been my experience, working in the OR for 30 years. And they will check you out before surgery anyways. I would NOT cancel myself. I was sleeved Nov 6. Had some issue with nausea Post op day 4 & 5 but got over that. Live better chemically. anyways, I am now eating eggs, tuna, ground turkey, as well as the full fluids etc. starting to branch out more now. Feeling good, although I have lost 15 lbs since surgery, I am stuck a little now... but I had lost 50 lbs preop. Hang in there.. every day it gets better..

    BC Sleevers

Sheena.. I am in Victoria and MSP paid for my surgery. I hear that the Richmond group are awaiting funding before they can start up again. Here is Victoria, there are 3 surgeons who do bariatric surgery. They all have similar criteria.. Lose 10% of your weight and keep a journal of your food & exercise. Now, of the 3, one puts you on the wait list immediately, and he has a wait list as long as your arm. The other 2 dont' until you have met the criteria. I had my initial consultation in July and was sleeved 2 weeks ago. I am happy to talk to you anytime, and you can email me marcy@shaw.ca

    crushing medications

My surgeon told me to crush my meds for 2 weeks.. then if it is a larger med, break it in half. I hate the crushing... some meds you can not disguise that bitter taste.. Must be that " bitter pill to swallow" I have heard about all these years!! LOL

    Last Week Sleevers..lets Chat..

Sleeved on Tuesday,Nov 6th. It was a struggle for my surgeon because of my adhesions caused by a previous open gallbladder surgery back in the 80's, but successful! The gas pain was unbelievable. Bring on the Morphine. I settled down though and was discharged on Friday. I had lots of trouble with nausea. However, once I got some ondansetron things improved dramatically. Trying to get my fluids in, doing great with puddings, applesauce, yogurt. I feel I turned a corner in recovery once the nausea was controlled. My surgeon was fabulous. He took a DVD of the surgery and showed it to me the next morning. Really interesting ( although as I am an OR nurse, I could understand his approach etc). We plan to use this video for teaching purposes and in presentations. Love it! Looking forward to getting stronger and stronger every day.
