Any post op patients had gallbladder surgery prior to vsg?
Mexico replied to DreamsOfSkinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine removed jan 2012 and vsg oct 2012...no interference or issues. I did see that with some people docs used the same incision sites but this was not thw case for me so I have 3 from gallblader and 4 from vsg. -
Yes! Two weeks ago I was in tears they were so bad. Normally they are mild enough I can do something and forfet about them. I thought my insides were ripping apart. It sucked. I hope next time around they r less intense because the childrens tylenol (what I was told was the only pain reliever I was allowed ) isnt even worth the nasty taste

Uh Oh....I'm suddenly STARVING
Mexico replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah heartburn or the acid reflux is much different than before surgery. The only way I knew was because I started taking prevacid and the hunger feeling went away. Also I knew I couldnt be hungry so quickly after a meal considering it took less time to get the hungry feeling than it did to consume the meal -
Anything ice cold feels so good to my tummy
Mexico replied to princesstia's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am the same way still at 2 1/2 months I can only tolerate drinks that are ice cold. I love my sugar free popcicles still too. I am getting ready for my 3 months bloodwork which I am curious about because I have heard and read that people with low iron levels crave ice so I will be interested to see how my iron is. I havent had to take any extra up to this point. -
I am 10 weeks out and can still only do tiny amonuts of plain water. Less than a bottle and I crave it so much. I have just this past week been able to tolerate crystal light in my water. Othwrwise I add a splash of diet cranberry or applejuice and that is the only way I have been able to stay hydrated.

I have many back issues like artritis and degenerative disks and running in the army accelerated it and has left me with little cushion betwen some of my vertebrate. I have had increasing pain and its because my already weak back muscles are not adjusting as fast to carrying 40 less pounds. I have to do a lot of back strengthing at the gym to try to keep up. As well as alot of stretching of my hips whixh if tight can cause alot of lower baxk pain too. It would seem it would be happier with less weight but I can tell such a big difference in how I walk sit lay and carry myself so its not too surprising.

What kind of help do you need after surgery?
Mexico replied to RedCardinal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was alone in mexico and traveled alone back to michigan 4 days after surgery. My fiance took the next day off but other than that was alone except during the evening. I was off pain meds two days after surgery and was encouraged to get moving right from the get go. I am pretty independent otherwise though and if I were alone probably would have been fine having someone stop by once a day at least the first day or two home. I also returned to class the day after I returned home. Everyone is so different so it may be a god idea to have a backup plan just in case to uave someone around -
How to track fluid, containers for, too much fluid at once a problem?
Mexico replied to lilac lass's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink out of blender bottles without the little blender ball in it. I am 9 weeks out and still can only drink liquids that are very cold so I am able to add ice and still measure from the side of the bottle as the opening does help me to take in less air amd not gulp. While most of the time I am able to drink out of most things now includng straws I find these bottles the best all around plus they travel well too -
Food feels like it just wont go down & I get Pain from it
Mexico replied to rmc7467's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get this when I eat too fast, too much, or have something my sleeve doesnt like. It is my bodies way of telling me no opossed to others who slime or burp or hiccup so I have learned to be more mindful of my portions and know which foods I am able to eat more of so I dont get it because I dont like it and many times it is folowwed by nausea. I had to track everything for a few weeks to get a really good idea but its pretty second nature now. I really have to take my time eating cuz just one bite too much will do it. -
itchy rash-like annoyance...?
Mexico replied to JoeyB616's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got a bad rash where the tape was holding the gauze on my incision then it spread plus my tummy shrinking with weight loss made it super itchy I just used hydrocortizone cream for a few days -
I do not have pcos but after surgery I had two periods like u are describing I didn't want to leave the house. They have improved a little since and get better more reg each time. Our bodies are going thru so much just need time to readjust pcos or not. It's like in basic training almost no one has a period the whole time because of what our bodies were put.thru

Gallbladder Removal During Vsg
Mexico replied to ArcusX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gallbladder attacks are so painful there is nothing that relieved mine. Gallstones once usually means u r at higher risk for them again then vsg can increase risk too..believe me something u don't want to take the risk of just to have another surgery down the road. My gallbladder removal was 10 months before vsg and recovery was much worse for gallbladder than vsg. I say get it out all in one then u especially don't have to deal with all the extra gas twice (which was the worse pain for me for both surgeries). Also now I have scars from glabladder and separate ones for vsg they might be able to do less all in one -
Drinking more water or fluids usually helps with mine. I have also had some tension headaches though from the weight loss and carrying myself different so I try to stretch throughout the day too

Unprofessional Or Within Professional Guidelines
Mexico replied to GlitteringGoldParodox's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The MOVE program is a joke anyway. It's not that I wasn't aware of how to eat I didn't have the motivation or will power to not eat all the bad stuff if it were as easy as eating certain things or not eating others I wouldn't have to go to the damn classes in the first place. Mind u they had me go to these classes after I already had been on a supervised diet and working with a dietician and classes on active duty not even a year prior. I would totally be going in there with the mindset that its what u have to do to get to ur goal and pick up a couple pointers but otherwise I would not be taking those people too serious in my experience they aren't invested in individual progress and results. -
I tried to go through them and they had me do all the paperwork get a cosigner after they said I was approved pay 50 to overnight the paperwork after I faxed it to them so they had the originals and then still got denied in the end it was a huge run around game. Tell them u want approval before u pay to send the documents and get the name and stuff of the lender their saying will approve u. They use other companies to finance and u have to have like 20% down and a processing fee of 400 dollars which for me would have been fine considering I was that desperate and in the end they still didn't come through. Tread lightly and seriously research all other options I would never recommend them to anyone

Would U Do It With Bmi Of 38?
Mexico replied to NurseMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I say do it! I am 5'1 and started about 15 heavier than u and people don't realize when they say oh people at 210 get this done that 210 on a 5'2 body is significant. I am feeling better only 5 weeks out and down about 30 lbs. I am finally getting to the point where food isn't controlling me all the time and exercise is enjoyable again. My fiance has started eating better too as a result so I am sure u and ur husband van support each other! -
I did about 6 weeks of insanity and because of cartilage breakdown in my knees and back from the army it proved too much impact for me...there is a lot of jumping and my joints couldn't handle it even though it was working everywhere else. If u don't have joint issues I say go for it cuz u can get amazing results just make sure to ease into it because it is super intense and going all.out will be too much even if u r already in decent shape. You can always do an extra week at the end if u feel like u have lost anything while really focusing on good form in the.first week and endurance

All Dr. Garcia's Sleeved Patients, Please Give Your Weightloss Amounts And Timeframes.....thanks!
Mexico replied to Diamondeyed's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I know for me being a Garcia patient not required to go to the doctor for post op or NUT appointments it seems easier to distance myself from here as far as checking in because other than blood work 3 months out we don't have as many doc check ins. So in other words we do our thing more privately because we aren't checking in with docs as frequently . I am not sure that my point is being made clearly Haha and def just my own opinion. I was sleeved Oct 19th at 228 and this past monday down 30 lbs. Just started back at the gym Monday too! -
I am almost 5 weeks out and about week 3 I finally felt like I could do more than take a shower before being exhausted. Now I make it through most of the day with energy but by the end of the day I whipped. Seems like every few days I still need a good nap too it seems to be getting better all the time though

I am a lab tech and do testing on blood and blood products and being negative just means u don't have rh. It has nothing to do with blood loss and yes can cause problems during pregnancy if the baby is pos because you antibodies see the pos as foreign and want to attack it ...that is why negative moms should get a rhogam shot to prevent this. The only other time its a problem would be no different than any other blood transfusion where the types are not matched properly and similarly ur antibodies would attack the foreign blood. There is extensive done before units of blood are issued and this should never happen. Bottom line is that rh - is just part of ur blood type

Had Surgery 9/25... Still Cant Drink Certain Liquids
Mexico replied to klperry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 10/19 and I can't drink plain water it makes me nauseous and juice is way to sweet but I find if I put some juice at least 1/2 and 1/2 with water and then add ice that melts into more water that I can drink all day. I make sure to get light juices like cranberry concord grape light it only has 50 cal per serving and no added sugar and because I am putting hardly any juice in my cup it ends up being 1 and a half serving at most throughout the day
