Hi There!

I wrote this once and it didn't save so let's try this again! My name is Samantha but for anyone who knows me I go by Sam! I am scheduled to have the band done on August 8th and I couldn't be more excited.

I, like many of you, have struggled with my weight most of my life. My story isn't grand it isn't special but it is all mine. As a 12 year old girl I remember praying every night for the tools and motivation to lose weight. It wasn't until a few months ago that my prayer was finally answered but I am a believer that everything happens for a reason all in it's own timely manner.

I was never the kid who got made fun of for being overweight but there were kids in my class who were the same size as me, bigger and smaller who did get made fun of. How I escaped the ridicule is beyond me but it did make more aware of how people can really be. I have always seen myself as a skinny girl in a big girl's body and I wonder if other people could sense that confidence in myself. By having this surgery I am hoping that everyone can finally see what I always have.

In high school I was always around 240 and for the 5 years after that only fluxuated by about 10 - 15 pounds. It wasn't until a couple years ago that I really packed on some weight. In a year I added 70 pounds to my body during a time of great stress. I had moved out on my own, I was changing jobs, I had been working with my new people (some of which were a little difficult to get a long with) and I really just let myself go. I got very depressed and did not have any motivation to change anything about myself.

Now I am ready. I am done playing around and being lazy. I have more motivation than I have ever had in my life and it's time to start driving this car rather than sitting in the back seat watching the trees go by. My goal is to lose 90 pounds within my first year after being banded and an addition 50 the following year. By year 3 I am hoping to reach my goal weight of 150 pounds and if I can continue on with this new path in life I would love to start participating in some 5k runs/walks and eventually walk the Mackinaw Bridge during Labor day weekend. A lot of my goals are more than obtainable and I can't wait to get my new life started!

Thanks for stopping by!
