I find I use it more now that I've adjusted to the idea that I need to be watching carb and protein numbers. It's so good!

Why Isnt This Working For Me?
sophiespo replied to lindseya7x's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I could eat 1800 calories a day! I struggle to get more than 600. I've become obsessed with myfitnesspal and protein powders/bars and cutting out carbs. For instance, there is SO MUCH sugar in most weight loss shakes, I was floored. I went out and got the Atkins stuff instead, much better. -
How To Tighten A Lap Band Without A Port Head?
sophiespo replied to model's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Model if you have insurance I'd suggest you get a new band in Australia. I'm in Perth, the whole thing was covered (it's considered an essential non plastic surgery) and I was out of pocket $2500 but I get $250 back. The best thing is that my dr said that if ANYTHING happens then the whole thing is replaced for free. If you don't have insurance it might be worth signing up, waiting out the year then getting it done? I'm with HBF on young single savers + hospital essential. -
This Will All Be Worth It Right???
sophiespo replied to casey11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The way I explain what getting a lap band is like to people is by saying its exactly like going through a break up. I went through all the stages. I'm 3 weeks post now and I feel much, much better. -
No I know what you mean. I take 3 huge lithium tablets in the morning, 2 at night. My tip is to have one, wait a few minutes. You really have to treat it like food. Lithium is for life. It's hard to swallow them now but not taking them is worse!

3 Weeks Post Op
sophiespo replied to wanttobeskinny38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm from Perth too If you're missing bread, try some toast? I'm crazy for bread and I've found that toasted Turkish bread scratches that itch for me. Mind you I'm going for my first fill Friday so who knows what I can eat after that. -
Returned with a vengeance on day 6.

I called my doctors office yesterday and my first fill appointment will be next Friday. I'm excited, mostly because I've been getting quite hungry the past few days. I still can't eat more than 600 cals without eating something bad or snacking. Today I have had around 500. I've been very strict with no snacking seeing as that is the whole point. Best to get into good habits. I really wonder how some of you can be managing 800-1000! Weight loss has slowed for me and I'm scared it has something to do with "starvation mode."

Need To Know If This Is Normal.
sophiespo replied to melissamiranda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same boat, banded same day, same weight loss, same problem. I am absolutely struggling to get more than 600 calories a day. Although I was considering my lack of weight loss to be because of my complete inability to do number 2. Sorry to be so open, but is this common too? -
Don't Weigh Myself?!?!?!?!?!
sophiespo replied to melissamiranda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I was banded on 25th July also and so far I have lost 5kgs which is about 11-12 lbs I think? I am a compulsive weigher... Every morning, after peeing. I weigh myself three times to make sure i get an accurate reading (im a scientist). I am utterly miserable all day if I haven't lost anything. I'm not looking forward to anyone telling me not to weigh myself each day I'm a bit OCD so giving this up will be hard. -
Oh this is good to know. I've also read the whole "only sip water" thing, but I have to take lithium which dehydrates me like the dickens and trying to rehydrate teaspoon by teaspoon is not very effective. Thanks! (ps new here, from Australia, now 10 days post op)
