Does anyone else find they they can eat without issue at home, but when it comes to going out to eat, everything goes down a bit hard? Or am I just weird?

    New Ideas For Dinner

I've been looking for a website that has a lot of band friendly recipes that take protein/carb content into consideration and I can't find one, pretty much resolved to just make one myself. If I did would anyone be willing to put up their recipes?
  4. Yep that tight chest feeling. I've reached that stage a few times and I know that one more bite if food will be my undoing.

What Difference Does Band Size Make?

I was already too tight at 2ml but didn't recognise the symptoms until I was way too tight. My symptom was gurgling whenever I ate anything, small or large, fast or slow. Also getting stuck very easily. The removal of 0.1 has made a huge difference now.

What Difference Does Band Size Make?

I have a 4 cc band and I had 2.25ml and had to get some removed as I was so tight I couldn't drink Water. The doc told me that 2.25 is the most they usually put in a 4cc band. I have 1.9ml now and I think I'm in the green zone (touch wood) I ate half a salad wrap yesterday for lunch (1/2 cup) at 1pm and stayed satisfied until after 5pm. That's how I'm gauging it. Satisfaction from 1/2 cup of food is what my doctor is having me aim for. So good luck with your 2ml but it might be too much for your first fill! I had 1.5ml added for 1st fill 0.5 for 2nd 0.25 for 3rd Then 0.35 removed
  7. Hi everyone I've been having a miserable time of it lately.. wasn't losing for 3ish weeks, then went on holiday to Bali (didn't lose but didn't gain - a win!!) but was sick with travellers diarrhoea for a week when I got home (lost loads of weight from that). I went for my second fill a month ago and then my third fill on Friday last week. Since Friday I couldn't eat a thing, couldn't drink anything without lots and lots of effort. Became seriously dehydrated, starving, etc. Weighed myself yesterday and I had lost 4kgs since last Wednesday (so that's in under a week). Spoke to a friend who told me that I should never gurgle/burp after eating or drinking, which started happening after my 2nd fill and was happening chronicly since my 3rd fill. I called my doctors surgery today and got an appointment and got an unfill.. instant relief... I never want to get into a too tight state again, it's hell. I was really confused because my fill schedule has been like this: No fill at surgery. 1st fill - 1.5mL - doctor said he was being aggressive with the fill because I seem to have a good grasp on what to do. 2nd fill - 0.5mL - doctor told me it usually takes at least 3 fills to get to this point. 3rd fill - 0.25mL Unfill - 0.35mL It was at this point I asked the doctor how much my band could take. Because I swear when I went for my first consultation he told me he used a 14mL band as it was the newer kind. And I thought 2.25mL in a 14mL band was hardly anything? I've been confused since I got my band about this fact. But the doctor told me today that the band I have is a "Maximizer" type lap band... and it holds approx 3.5mL fluid. Which makes it all make sense really, 2.25 in a 3.5mL band seems quite massive! But I've never even heard of this maximizer band.. my book that they gave me doesn't talk about it.. And how does it even work? What is the difference between smaller volume bands and bigger volume bands (aside from the volume?) How does it physically work? Are the bigger bands looser and that's why they need more fluid before you get to the green zone? Can someone explain any of this stuff? My google-fu is failing me. Anyway it's going well, I had surgery on 25th July, so it has been just over 2 months, and I have lost 12kgs (26.4lbs) and fitting into all sorts of things I never used to.. I'm very happy with it. Thanks for reading!

Types Of Lap Band + First Unfill

I'm using this as an app on my phone and I can't find any options to fill out my profile... I got banded in Perth, Western Australia (where I live). I don't think FDA means anything here. I didn't mishear her because I asked her to clarify. She called it a maximiser. I looked it up and it does exist but I can't find any info on it. The info book I have is branded allergan but I can't find it. I always thought I had a 14cc band but apparently not. I guess it explains why I was so tight after 2.25ml. She said my band holds about 3.5ml. Word for word.
  9. I read something the other day that says the band is tight in the morning due to water retention. One of the easiest ways to combat water retention is to drink more water (confusingly enough). This could account for why eating is easier with more water between meals.

Am I Suppose To Feel Hungry???

Yeah I know. It's just a huge shock to the system. A week ago I was thinking this wasn't so hard!!

Am I Suppose To Feel Hungry???

I was starving two weeks out from surgery. Had a fill, still hungry. Could eat whatever I wanted, as fast as I wanted, at that stage it was pure self control. Had my second fill 4 days ago and dear god things are different now. I've been caught out eating too fast twice now, which means I've finally discovered what true PBing is (YUCK!). I've yet to feel even the slightest pang of hunger. It seems that I can't eat anything from the "do not eat" list (most importantly chicken breast which I'm devastated about). Eating is a massive effort and the only things that want to go down easily are the things I shouldn't be having. I feel miserable but only because I'm once again feeling like I'm breaking up with food Uh do yeah. It does change.

    Pb'ing After 3Rd Fill

Experiencing the same thing right now!! Eating anything is hard work got through half a piece of toast and a scrambled egg today so far.
  13. http://www.bnrg.com/ Found it!
  14. I don't think we have unjury here. Shame, it sounds pretty good. The best tasting one I've had is from a company called BNRG or something similar.. Double chocolate flavor, doesn't have that distinct taste all the other ones seem to have.
  15. This is one of the ones I have: http://www.naturesway.com.au/our-products/category/protein-sports-nutrition/product/sports-edge-whey-magnesium.html I'm in Australia though. I'm sure the US would have an equivalent?

    Fill In 2 Days

You should be proud of the 39lbs!! That's some good work!
  17. I had exactly the same. Get a real good quality Protein Shake. One of mine has 35g Protein per serve (low carb too). If you have to spend half an hour in the shop comparing them all then so be it! I can't recommend anything for the gas, the heat pad got me through but it's pretty much a waiting game.
  18. Oh right. That's fair. I'm on a medication that makes me super thirsty so I drink a lot of Water, but the medication also makes me retain water like nothing else. coffee really helps me not retain as much. In short, I'm not giving up coffee
  19. Can someone explain the no caffeine thing to me?

  22. I'm about 6 weeks post now, losing nothing. Had 1 fill so far and going for another next week (although I'm really not sure I need one, I don't have any type of hunger that I can't deal with). I'm watching Protein (at least 60g) and carbs (around 50g) each day, not snacking and definitely finding it hard to get more than 600-700 calder unless I'm eating junk between meals. I know this could be a problem but.. I also take lithium for bipolar disorder (which I'm having a hard time with right now but that's a different story). Lithium's main side effect is weight gain. I don't have the option of not taking it (trust me). I was wondering if anyone else took it and if they find it affects their weight loss much? I'm scared that it's playing a huge role in mine but like I said there's not much I can do. Does anyone still lose while being on lithium? Do you lose like normal or slower?

    Alcohol With Lapband

Anything fizzy really hurts me now, but I love champagne. I had a glass a week ago but poured it between 2 glasses until it went kinda flat. I was never told no carbonation but realised pretty quickly how bad it hurts me.
  25. Ditto. In fact it's happening to me right now. It will pass.
