Does BMI determine if I'll meet my goal weight?
slojo replied to Capricornrose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery weight was 186 and I"m 5 months out, lost 61lbs. to reach goal of 125lbs. The doc said I should meet goal in approximately 6 months, so he was pretty close... It seems that those with higher bmi's lose faster than I did, so keep that into consideration. That doesn't really answer your question, hopefully helpful... -
Me too, and I take PLENTY of protein in each day...

When does hair stop falling out!
slojo replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Spouses reaction 2 weight loss
slojo replied to tpietrowski's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My husband lays down little hints that he is insecure some about me losing weight. He has been supportive and encouraged me the whole way, but he has said kiddingly a few times that I would leave him after I lost all the weight. He even had some dreams that I left him for another man... He isn't controlling and likes to show off my pictures to his co-workers, but down inside he's a little insecure, but it hasn't caused any arguments or other problems. I'm at goal and he's glad for me. I just try to reassure him that I love him and am not going anywhere. -
Sounds like you'll do awesome! It's a fun-ride this journey of losing weight and becoming more healthy. I was the same way pre-op, I could not wait to get sleeved. I'm 5 months out and have reached my ultimate goal and am still learning by trial and error what and when I can eat and how much. I've learned so much from VST. Don't know what I would have done without these forums. Keep us posted on how you're doing and learn all you can on here... Good luck and just relax and enjoy the journey!

6 weeks post op and stuck, I could use some moral support
slojo replied to Rockstarswife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a very good loss for how far out from surgery you are. I noticed when I had a stall my clothes still got more loose. It's totally normal to have these "stalls" we call them. The wt. loss will pick up again and slow again as you go through this journey. Just keep up with your liquids/protein and the stalll will lift...Good luck and it sounds like you're doing awesome!!! Keep us posted on your progress and ask questions, that's how we all learn from each other and compare notes! -
Welcome! We're glad to have you. Keep us posted on your progress...

Awesome! I also had surgery with Dr. Almanza Aug 28 2012. I just reached goal 2 days ago. So proud of you and me!!!

I reached my ultimate goal of 125lbs. My starting weight was 186lbs. My bmi is 22.1 now. I'm 5 months out, today!. I'm starting to appreciate just being able to coast and maintain weight. I'm curious to see how that goes. I'm wearing all of my old clothes from my previous skinny days! It has been fun gradually melting into them again. I haven't had to buy alot of clothes through my journey. Bought some just to encourage/reward myself along the way. Don't have alot to write right now. Will write more as I enjoy being at goal. can't wait until summer' I got a brand new Harley last september and plan to hit the road with my new bod this summer. Gotta get a tan yet and I'll be ready. Call it a mid-life crisis whatever, I can't wait to start my fun new life!!!

My surgeon was Dr. almanza, i'm a nurse and I had amazing care with him and his crew. It wasn't fancy, mind you, but it was VERY clean and the care was awesome. I never had to wait for meds, didn't have any trouble post op. I'm 5 months out now...
