Donating Blood After Weight Loss Surgery
COsleeveDude replied to COsleeveDude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did he say or did you ask why? -
Received Eob In The Mail Today.....yikes
COsleeveDude replied to Sherry77's topic in Insurance & Financing
I can't wait to see how much mine "cost." Who doesn't need health insurance? One surgery, one broken bone...one trip to the ER sent a friend of mine into bankruptcy. -
Dying On Pre-Op Diet
COsleeveDude replied to Cas714's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's tough for everyone. Following the diet will make your recovery easier. Unfortunately, for all of us (or damn near most of us) it's suffer now or suffer later. I preferred to suffer before. Good luck. -
Couldnt Do Surgery-Liver Size
COsleeveDude replied to SlevieNicks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have access to your pre-op blood tests? On your metabolic panel was your ALT elevated over, say, 50? Is your surgical center a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence? Those could be a couple of clues. It seems pretty typical for experienced programs to put those people with higher BMI and/or those who don't lose enough weight pre-surgery on a 14-day liver shrinking diet. The shrinking diet can also be indicated for people whose known health problems may contribute to fatty liver, or if blood tests come back indicating a fattier fatty liver. Either way, sorry for your troubles. -
Agree. If you want one of the grossest tasting shakes, hook up Muscle Milk. They often smell and taste slightly spoiled, even when they're not expired. Most of the powders taste better than Muscle Milk, and they're cheaper.

So A $3.50 "split Fee" In Our Favorite Restaurant

You wouldn't, I would. Isn't America great? -
Cold All The Time?
COsleeveDude replied to mkbennett00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't feel colder, but my actual body temp is typically down 1-3 degrees from before, usually 95-97F. Some people may actually feel colder, I brought it up to the nurse because I saw it on the thermometer. She said it's common, and some people will return to "normal" after awhile, others won't. Unfortunately I'm not sweating any less during exercise, but I definitely don't sweat as much as I did before in general. -
Weight Management Class..anyone?
COsleeveDude replied to Kenzee245's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had eight classes, one per week. It's just education and encouragement with some group therapy mixed in. It can be a little annoying and feel denigrating at first, but after completing the classes I felt that it was an overall positive and really helped motivate me to not only educate myself further, but to drop almost 40 pounds during and after the class before surgery. -
Eating or drinking anything with more than a few grams of sugar per serving is a poor idea.

So A $3.50 "split Fee" In Our Favorite Restaurant
COsleeveDude replied to Rootman's topic in The Lounge
Ask the manager to remove it. If they don't inform you of the fee ahead of time, don't pay it. What are they going to do, call the cops? Many restaurant managers will cave on fees like that anyway. If they don't, write a Yelp review. Create a free blog and write a scathing review. Write a letter to the BBB. Write to the Attorney General. Copy the local newspapers and TV stations. If more people put a couple of hours worth of effort into writing decent complaint letters and online reviews, the restaurants and other businesses wouldn't try and pull this **** all the time. The last time I wrote complaint letters I got my money back and coupons for free stuff. It works, and it is more proactive and productive than just not going back or screwing the server out of a tip to compensate, which doesn't punish the business at all. -
You will be sick of pudding only slightly slower than you are sick of Jell-O. BUT, why not splurge on trying some pudding flavors? The powder doesn't go bad, and it doesn't cost nearly as much as Isopure, or any other Proteins for that matter. I tend to find that buying the pre-made cups probably helped me not eat a whole bowl of pudding.

I'm not sure which is worse: Googling, oogling or oggling.

Gallbladder/stone Issues After Vsg?
COsleeveDude replied to vanishingvixen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I asked my surgeon about it, as they didn't do any pre-surgery testing. Sounds like they don't think it's worth testing if patients are asymptomatic, and only about 10% develop gallbladder issues post-surgery. That's also part of the explanation for why they don't just remove the gallbladder during sleeve surgery. Also, it sounds like some people can have stones and no symptoms. -
What Did You Name Your Sleeve?
COsleeveDude replied to pretty-pink's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Annoying Customer. -
I would agree that you should say something. The decision is whether you think he's crossing some ethical line that needs to be addressed by an employer and/or licensing board. So you can keep it between you and him, or you can bring it up with a higher authority. The concern to weigh is: is he being inappropriate with more of his patients than just you?

Stupid Question .... Protein Shakes
COsleeveDude replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My program recommends getting off protein drinks ASAP, but I plan on drinking them forever. To me, it doesn't really matter what your doctor or program says. If you can get enough protein in for your caloric, workout and body-type needs via regular food, don't use shakes. If you can't, use protein shakes. Gotta count the calories either way. -
July 9Th Sleevers (Around There)
COsleeveDude replied to KikiCC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
July 17th here, down 30 in seven weeks. I'm getting in closer to 1,000 cal/day because I'm working out 5-7 days a week, cardio and weights. -
That's my question: are you offended or interested?
-
You COULD eat them, but I assume they're fatty and salty as hell, like chips. Should you eat them? My guess is no.
-
I will see you all in hell. Maybe.

Singulair Post-Op
COsleeveDude replied to Need-a-Sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's also a big difference between oral and inhaled steroids. -
Any venti decaf skinny Starbucks latte or mocha. It will only set you back about 150 calories max, and has 10-15 grams of Protein. If you got really ambitious I bet you could pour it into a bigger cup and add some Protein powder and/or more milk. For regular coffee I have been using dry powdered nonfat milk as a creamer and protein booster.

Ihop/ 5 Weeks Post Op
COsleeveDude replied to lovelyladynhouston's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still find it baffling that some get sick from many things, while I can more than tolerate everything I've tried. And I'm not saying that's necessarily a good thing, I've wondered myself if it wouldn't be better to be put off a little more by certain foods. -
Normal to me, I lost about 10-15 in the first week. My guess is a lot of it is water, especially because they fill you up with IV fluids in the hospital.

What Is Your New Favorite Drink?
COsleeveDude replied to shelly77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am liking tea a lot more. And decaf skinny mochas and lattes: they have 10-15 grams of Protein and a reasonably low calorie hit. I tried Mio and Crystal Light. It tastes fine but any of that sugar free Koolaid-type stuff goes right through me, I pee every 10 minutes.
