  1. My program told us some people have a hard time digesting raw vegetables and/or fruits right away. They suggested waiting six months and eating non-stringy things without skins and seeds.
  2. There's nothing that you can never have again unless you, as an individual, can't tolerate it. Everything is basically guidance. Everyone will cheat and fudge, even just a little. Im two months out and have tried a lot of things, including soda, pizza, cheeseburger, salad, buffalo wings, Mexican. I just find I don't crave it as much and don't need or want to eat as much. So I still partake in social situations, but just much less frequently and in greatly reduced amounts. I think fear of food is unhealthy and may contribute to failure long-term. The sleeve just helps learn portion and control. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

    Gray Dots?

It signifies how many people have put you on their ****list.

    5% of 1%?

I'm not a huge fan of organized religion, but I've never bought the idea of religion as the primary cause of violence and/or war. People are the cause of violence and war. If there was no concept of god(s) people would still find reasons to kill each other and go to war.
  5. The whole people not exercising pre and/or post surgery drives me nuts. Spending time obsessing about post-surgery complications and weight loss, yet not fighting half the battle...the vast majority of us can get in decent shape and walk 30 minutes 5-6 days a week in the few months before surgery. Best preventative and proactive measure you can take. Now that I'm on my own journey, I also think a lot about "skinny fat people": people who are thinner, yet are out of shape and/or look like crap because they have no muscle or tone. Not gonna be me.

Need Some Help Figuring This Out, Please...

1,600 is probably too many calories. Try cutting your calories and carbs back down to no more than 1,200 for awhile and see what happens

How Many Carbs Are You Eating?

I don't really count my carbs, just my calories. I eat more carbs when I feel like my body needs some, which isn't every day. Usually I consume in small amounts, something like whole grain bread or brown rice.

    2 Months Post-Op And Questions

Oh, and I probably average 900-1,200 calories per day with 100-150 grams of protein. I do cardio and/or weights 5-6 days per week.

    2 Months Post-Op And Questions

Today is my two month mark. I'm down 35 since surgery day, but I lost almost 40 before surgery, so I always add that to my total. Because I can.

    Needing Some Suggestions

Six weeks out you should be able to try a myriad of things. You can always try a sandwich and only eat half or ditch the bread if it doesn't agree with you. I always get wheat bread when they have it. Any salad bar should have ham and chicken. If they do Breakfast food eggs always work.

    Sausage

I tried some of the Morningstar "sausage" patties, and then some regular sausage at around 5 weeks out. Everything that I've tried agrees with me, I just can't and don't eat as much of it.

    Does The Sweating Stop?

I can only imagine it as well. But then again, I'm a dude.

    Does The Sweating Stop?

I have always been sweaty, even when I was younger and much thinner. I have noticed I am much cooler a couple of months after surgery. I still sweat quite a bit when I work out, but not as much as before in "normal" situations.

    2Nd Week Pre-Op Chest Pain?

Tell your doctor about it ASAP. If the doctor doesn't mention it you might want to think about a stress test before surgery.

    Hcg

hCG is a scam. There's no peer-reviewed legit mainstream human scientific evidence to support its efficacy. It's a placebo at best, and dangerous at worst. You will lose weight if you basically quit eating: For comparison, hCG diets typically recommend calorie intake approximately half that of the inmates at Auschwitz, where inmates engaged in heavy labor received 1,700 calories per day and those on light work 1,300.[29] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_chorionic_gonadotropin#The_.22HCG_diet.22

    48% Body Fat & Osteopenia

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Were your calcium levels low before? They probably didn't think it was a big deal because of your age, that is unfortunate. What type of body scan did they give you? I've been thinking about getting some type of BodPod or other body/bone scan to see where I'm at now, and then another one in a year or two. It is good your program does that, I had no tests like that before or after my surgery. At least now you know and can be more proactive with calcium and exercise. Also, weight-bearing exercise and less carbonated beverages will help get your bone density levels back up.

    Getting Too Much Protein?

From what I've heard, that's not necessarily true especially if you spread out the protein throughout the day. I try and get 150+ per day, and usually do. But I'm also a 6 foot tall guy.

    Getting Too Much Protein?

From the Mayo Clinic: http://www.mayoclini...y-urine/AN01702 What does it mean when you have foamy urine? Should I be concerned if it doesn't go away after a few days? Answer from Erik P. Castle, M.D. Passing foamy urine now and then is normal, for the speed of urination and other factors can influence this. But you should see your doctor if you have persistently foamy urine that becomes more noticeable over time. This can be a sign of Protein in your urine (proteinuria), which requires further evaluation. Increased amounts of protein in urine may indicate a serious kidney problem. If your urine seems unusually foamy most of the time, your doctor may recommend that your urine be checked for elevated levels of protein. If the test is positive, you may need further tests to determine the cause of the problem.

    Can Eat Everything

Yes. Quit trying everything and stick to the plan. Now that I'm a couple of months out I have also found that I can tolerate anything I've tried. But I also found it took about 4-6 weeks before I really felt the full effects of the restriction and consistent greatly reduced hunger. That having been said, people can use bad habits to defeat the sleeve. The surgery won't work on its own, it's just a tool. Good luck.

    Pulmonary Wouldn't Clear Me- Upset!

That's a drag. You should ask the surgeon to discuss with the pulmonologist and see if she will change her mind. Going from CPAP most of the time to CPAP all of the time isn't going to affect the surgery. I know the anesthesiologists want you using it and bringing it to the hospital. In fact, haven't I heard some people have to discontinue CPAP after surgery for awhile so it doesn't hurt the stomach? Or because of excess gas?
  21. It doesn't load slow on my computer. There are a lot of variables to consider: your internet connection speed, your browser, how much junk (add-ons, viruses, cookies) has accumulated in your browser and/or computer, how old your computer is, how much memory it has, etc. etc. etc.

    B-12 And The Sleeve

Yes, but you can always get shots if the pills don't work. Start taking a B-Complex pill every day and see what your levela get to before surgery. My guess is you have a fair chance of keeping them up if you take it daily. Good luck.
  23. COsleeveDude

    Pcp

What she said. Sorry to hear about your troubles. My guess is you'll get referred to a cardiologist. If not, get a referral. You'll probably need additional testing before surgery.

    Opportunity Cost

I was within a couple of months of having surgery in spring 2011. Then I landed a job offer with a good pay bump in another state 1,000 miles away. So, I took the job and my surgery was delayed over a year. Thankfully the *** at my new job also covered the surgery like my old ***. That having been said, you can always delay the surgery and find another way to pay for it. My only "regret" is it would've been nice to have the surgery and some initial weight loss for a fresh start before moving. But, life isn't perfect, and delayed gratification builds character. Or so they say. Good luck with your decision.

    Rash

Try some hydrocortisone cream. If it doesn't go away or keeps recurring see a dermatologist. I have mild psoriasis and anesthesia always triggers it to flare up where I usually don't get it, like in my armpits. Which sucks, because itching armpits and deodorant aren't exactly friendly. And there's no subtle way to itch your armpits.
