  1. As requested, I have reported you again. You are a master of reverse psychology. I look forward to purchasing your body wraps. Are they made from flour or corn?

    Flu Shot?

    That's a good point.
  3. Yikes... But it's good to have goals.

    Flu Shot?

I had one a couple of days ago. I get one every year, so my answer is yes. They will give you a fact sheet before you get the shot. Read it. The vaccine is dead virus, so you won't get the flu. Some people may get a little sore/tired for a couple of days after, but no worse than a mild cold or a strenuous workout.
  5. I was one of the people who reported you. If you want to go on the record here as saying you have no financial interest and you or someone you know is not directly or indirectly making money off the links you're posting, then I won't report you in the future. Either way, like others have mentioned, these things don't work and have no long-term impact. They're a waste of money and hope.

    The Calculus Of Cheating

I bought a 36 pack of string cheese and blew through it in less than a week. Which is why I usually don't buy cheese. Occasionally I give in, but I don't usually buy that much. It was on sale, and I can't resist a deal on something I want. But, I started to actually think about how bad it really was and how guilty I should feel. So, I did the math: 6 pieces of string cheese per day for 6 days. They're 50 calories each. So that's 300 "extra" calories a day, or 1800 total "extra" calories. I say "extra" because they may not all count as extra calories, depending on the day, because I may have eaten the cheese instead of something else. Before the surgery a cheat would've been 1800+ calories in a day. Now it's 1800 calories in a week. Big difference. The lesson: keep everything in context, especially when you screw up. And don't go grocery shopping before dinner.

Shrimp - What Else Can You Fix With It?

One of my favorites is shrimp nachos. Take chips or a tortilla, add shrimp and cheese (I like mozzarella or some kind of jack) and bake it or nuke it. Serve with salsa and/or cocktail sauce. Really good.

    Salad?

I think they're most worried about digesting raw fruits and vegetables, especially things that are stringy or things that have seeds or skins. I've had some raw fruits and vegetables in moderation: sliced apples, side salads, veggies on sandwiches, etc, and I'm less than three months out. Just start off slow so you can learn what you can and can't tolerate, and don't eat too much in one sitting. Good luck.

    Horrific Fried Chicken

Probably has less to do with the sleeve and more to do with the fact that you haven't had fried food for a year and half.
  10. Welcome. If it makes you feel better you're not a stalker, you're a lurker: http://livingontheedge012.blogspot.com/2011/09/lurker-or-stalker.html Good luck with your surgery.
  11. Six months since start of pre-surgery program, three months since surgery. Down 80 lbs. My biggest suggestion at this point would be to lift weights. It helps keep the good weight up and really starts to reshape your body. And if you've lifted in the past your body remembers quickly. Good luck to all. J
  12. I know people who had RNY that made it to goal and then some without much, if any, exercise. You will look and feel much better if you do exercise. And remember, muscle weighs more than fat, so the goal weight shouldn't be the be-all-end-all goal. Good luck.

    Hospital Time?

I would recommend one, but maybe I was lucky? I would settle for two. You will have an option IF you can meet their requirements for getting fluids in and keeping them down, along with walking, passing leak and other tests and yadda yadda yadda. Good luck.
  14. Once you get into solid foods the guidance is something like 1/4 to 1 cup depending on who you ask, but it also varies from person-to-person. For me the kind of food and just a different day can affect how much I am able to eat. Sometimes I can only put down a few bites, other times I can eat a cup or more.

    I Was Approved

They're all different. They will usually tell you to talk to the billing department at the hospital to arrange for a payment plan if you need one. The surgeon's office should at least have the contact info you need to get you started. Good luck.

    Iron Man, Six Months Out

Ha, no triathlons for me, like, ever. I'm not much for endurance sports, at least not to that extreme. I'd add some profanity and innuendo, but I'm not allowed to say **** on here, or talk about *** ****** and ****** ******.

Men: Telling "the Guys" About Your Surgery

I still think it's okay to lie and/or be selective about who you tell, what and when you tell them, at least initially. You can always use the old "gallbladder surgery" excuse to get out of drinking and eating crappy for awhile while you recover. Most people don't know enough to question it, and if they do you can just say you also had an ulcer or something and the diet change is doctor's orders for awhile until your stomach and gallbladder heal up.

    Dill Pickles....

I just bought some zesty crunchy garlic pickle spears last week. First time I've had a substantial pickle since before surgery. Pretty frickin' tasty.

    When The Dream Ends...

I would agree with the loan approach. If it's that important for your health get the money and worry about paying it back later. You can always consider filing bankruptcy if the medical bills and loans are too much down the line.

    When The Dream Ends...

As much as your situation sucks and I'm sorry for your troubles, I would look at some other options before taking the fatalistic approach. How about switching insurance plans during open enrollment? Mexico? Obamacare: Obamacare prohibits lifetime limits (A cap on the total lifetime benefits you may get from your insurance company) on most benefits in any health plan or insurance policy issued or renewed on or after September 23, 2010. In 2014, Obamacare prohibits new plans and existing group plans from imposing annual dollar limits (a cap on the benefits your insurance company will pay in a year) on the amount of coverage an individual may receive. http://thanksobamaca...index.php?id=11 Good luck.

    ketones

Funny, I just had a urinalysis for an unrelated issue and it showed up with high ketones and a trace of protein. Both of those are marked as abnormal results, so we'll see what my doc says about how abnormal, if at all, in relation to the weight loss surgery. I wonder if he will ask me to decrease my protein and/or increase my carbs. Although I feel fine.

    Iron Man, Six Months Out

Oh, and btw, the post title was sarcastic. Just happened to notice the way I held the phone gave me the Iron Man chest light look, and I happened to take the pic in the gym weight room because I have no full length mirrors in my small apartment.
