i was rejected by bc bs of oklahoma which has covered 25 other employees at where i work i have a bmi over 50 which is the reason for rejection and saying i could die on the surgery table.. they however approve gastric bypass which is more dangerous than lapband. any advce would be MUCH appreciated on exactly what my next steps would be in getting approval what kind of documentation should i obtain.

so my employer and its insurance provider has covered more than 25 lap band patients and im the first to be rejected because im too heavy to have weight loss surgery get that lol my benefits coord called me and i can not get a hold of her in the 5 calls i have made and messages i have left i actually found this out by the doctor im dealing with at a lap band seminar that i volunteerily went to to compound matters worse i was going home and hit a curb at 60mph on the highway while going off an exit ramp denting both left side rims severly to warrant me purchasing new tires and rims

yes faithmd i will deffinately keep that in mind i have three hopes first being doctor submitting something effecting changing their mind me contacting that lawyer and having him draft me up something and if all else fails continue to eat healthy which i have not given up on yet and trying to get down to bmi 52 or lower

i dont know if i have teh will to lose 150 pounds or so to get to bmi 50 that would be realllllllly tough

i myself shop at casual male, big and tall, and mens warehouse there r sections there for gen x veering more towards preppy styling

I notified my doctor who said he woudl send another letter to insurance for a 2nd look i requested he send that letter to me for my records to make sure it gets done also to possibly send it along to that lawyer that faithmd listed above ty so much for that link btw

i have no idea where to start for finding statistics first thing coming to mind is google'ing bmi over 50 lap band results which im going to do right now

AWW all these posts for people undergoing or already banded i see so many happy people :cry wish i could be talking about my band :help: someone give me some ideas on what type of paperwork i should gather to resubmit to insurance

im not even shocked to be honest im more of an even keeled type of individual but inside im hurting its almost as if i knew i was going to be rejected somehow nothing ever seems to be easy for me /end rant anyway what kind of documentation do you think i should provide i was thinking about doing a scare tactic hiring a lawyer for an hour or two to draft me up something that i can send and my doctor is also sending something on my behalf stating that they will be responsible for making the medical decision. i just have to wait 2 weeks b4 i hear back from the doctor on that letter. they said that i cant be over bmi 50 or id die on the surgery table heres the funny thing they approve gastric bypass which is more fatal than this surgery.

try to think back before your surgery... How did you get motivated to work out i know it will be a struggle for me and am planning on doing some weight lifting i cant stand cardio though and was told that weightlifting wont do it for me i need cardio but i cant get motivated to run or bike :cry

i went grocery shopping yesterday and was buying all healthy stuff and bought something called south beach diet and it said high protein 250 calories after i ate it out of curiosity i looked at the nutrition information and found that ya 250 calories good protein but then noticed 30% dv sodium and 27% dv sat fat im a lil pissed i ate it under the presumption i was eating healthy was it my fault for not looking carefully at nutrition fact and just looking at front of the box or is it companies that stress the few good things and hide the bad

so i went to the snack machine at work cause i needed something to eat and i got pretzels not so good because their salted but hey better than the reeces pieces i was staring down :bandit god i hate urges

funny u mention an ipod i just got a mp3 player from moms and i was thinking about working out with it as well but now heres my question waht if i were to just lift weights instead of walking/running with this be no good?

so i went to teh dietician and theres no way around it no second guessing scale didnt 2nd guess digital reading went from a blank screen to 492.1 without a flutter between any numbers WOW is what im thinking i swear im shocked. i dont feel like im 500 pounds when i look in a mirror i dont think i look like 500 pounds maybe im reverse anorexic lol!!! this is the start my friends the long hard journey. when at the dietician she had a generic meal and diet plan that she had to alter because im not overweight im really overweight yesterday ill give you an idea of waht i ate and maybe u can tell me if i did good morning : whey Protein mix with 2% milk mid mornign snack : small salad with light dressing and 12 low fat crackers lunch : turkey sandwhich on wheat w/ mustard mid afternoon snack : 12 crackers and bowl of wheat nugget Cereal stuff dinner : regular sized salad with half chicken breast late snack : another bowl of wheat nugget cereal (good stuff) im going to walk my dogs tonight i guess im on my way

hey there ^^ im the guy on the forum who told her about my job its an auto/home insurance job and in fact the benefits do start day 1 and working at my job is the best in terms of getting approval my doctor said it was "a slam dunk" working with (my job) and is the easiest employer in terms of approval.also thers been no lie, about 50 employed who have had the surgery..1 meet with doctor 1 meet with shrink 1 meet with dietician and as long as u dont act nutty in the psychologist office ur approved whole process is 2-3 months give me a call or email me on how that first assesmant went babygee

i am expecting to be banded in may and was wondering who was the leader or presidant of the may bandsters and where they document challenges and stuff like april is doing

i just completed the psychologist meeting and he approved with me having it done he said he was borderline recomend which means id have to do it b4 the surgery but instead he is sugguesting i go to a lap band support group. I heard there is a group at where i work ill check into it now i just need to wait for my doctor to get the paperwork to my insurance then i get a surgery date !!! btw im already on a diet and i guess i wasnt even suposed to be until 10 days prior to surgery oh well good to start early

Ya Tracy im taking it step by step and its amazingly creeping up on me i cant believe i am actualy asserting myself in this whole process gl badonkadonk love that name we might be in the same band month group -
I LOVE this board and the support hopefully after im done with the whole process i can help other newbies on the board with what they are dealing with

i love the idea of rye crackers ill try that out and im eatin a salad made at work and omg how hard it was to push aside the shredded cheese ^^ but i look forward to my next weighing being LESS than what im at now thats my motivation

I might remind u that im coming from a diet that included MUCH worse meals i probably ate from 5-10k calories a day and eating bran cereal and salad and crackers is a big jump from eating cupcakes and pringles. i might not be on the perfect pre band diet but just like teh dietician things need to be modified i cant go frm 10k calories to 1k a day its just impossible and also i am preband so with these little meals i do feel hungry at times. im probably consuming 1/3 the amount of meals and 1/5 the calories
