Sounds like something my cute, tiny,little Asian woman mother would say and it ticks me off all of the time lol.My mom knows nothing about dieting she does exercise but she only started maybe 2 years ago and she is 60 never been fat a day in her life.I tend to give her and a lot of people of other cultures the benefit of the doubt as to whether she means to be hurtful because in her culture and a lot others they are very blunt and it is not considered rude to state what they consider the "obvious". I know we live in America and people of other cultures know it too but some have trouble adapting.I say do what you did in this case and let the person know how it is...Don't Hate,Educate ps.I am also an advocate of if it is none of their business you don't have to tell them.I will only tell those I trust

I want you all to know that the Bariatric Clinic @ San Antonio Military Medical Center in TX(the one that used to be BAMC) is a SELF REFERRAL CLINIC it prides it self on being the best Baritatric Program in the DOD and they do Sleeves...I know because I am going through their process now. Thanks Suzanne, I found this to be very motivational.You made this decision at 63 years old but you are 66 years young now and that is awe inspiring

I have to do 4 more NUT visits over the next no less than 2 months (>3 mos nutrtition is SAMMC requirement).I also am waiting for Psych consult.I have my labs and UGI scheduled for Aug. After I complete checklist( est.by15 Oct) the wait is not long I am told.I do not have to wait for insurance to say ok at least.

I just want to say I am very sorry to everyone else on thisthread if you were offended by anything I said.I am usually very laid back believe it or not but something about her style of address just irked me.I did not come on the forum to argue.I came on to see what others are going through and hear there opinions on navigating through this whole process.I will offer my opinion(not to be taken for a medical opinion) on issues too but will try to do so in a non confrontational manner from now on

Cheri, I totally get the food thing. I lived in England for 2 yrs and Australia for 3 and last year when we came back I was really surprised at how different food is here. Granted I Am Pre op so I still eat a bit but I have become a lot pickier about freshness and making things from scratch. I don't like exercise but see it as a necessary evil lol.

Antiseptic Antimicrobial skin cleanser...Some surgeons give that or Chlorhexadine wash to their patients to shower with before surgery as another precaution against infection.I think you can by Hibiclens at Walgreen's too.

I can be pretty sure the Eclampsia was the reason as it is very high risk in a " normal weight patient " the doc probably did not want to add being 100 lbs overweight to that scenario . Even after weightloss if you do conceive again you may be Eclamptic again but it will be easier to manage if that makes sense?

I have to admit I only tell the people closest to me that I feel are going to be supportive. I have a very good idea of who won't be. I also have people that I plan on telling like my aunt but I am only going to tell them right before surgery.I plan on it being a one way conversation because I want them to know I am having surgery but I know thy will try to talk me out if it if I allow it.I have people that I know I probably won't ever tell like my MIL bc they will judge me and forever be making comments like " well she only lost weight because she took the easy way out" I know that those people will never change and a lot of them will be bitter over their own situations and I don't want or need their negative juju!
