Forget them, they are probably miserable people and you know what the saying about misery is.. Or in the words of my funny younger brother "Everyone has to have Haters, if you have no Haters then somethings not right" lol Keep your held high and watch those Bs cry when you are looking better than they are:) -

EGD is also known as Upper GI Endoscopy...I had what some other folks on here had which is an Upper GI series which is something most also have to endure for leak testing after surgery.
-
I think these 2 tests are different from what I have seen EGD you are sedated and looked at with an endoscope...Upper GI you have to drink some nasty stuff( Barium) and they X-Ray you as it goes through your system...I had Upper GU and trust me you would rather be sedated and scoped...

P.a. & Surgeon Against Me Getting The Sleeve
Kalimomof3 replied to TamaraS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeve used to be the first of a 2 step surgery process for patients with too highBMI for trafitional WLS with the 2nd step or second surgery being the Duodenal Switch ( some say RNY but everything I have seen says Duodenal Switch is the 2nd step) either way if you do not get the results you want from the sleeve alone you could under go the DS afterward or now RNY. The problem I have heard in my support group is that for SOME patients with high BMI the Sleeve is not restrictive enough in nature and SOME patients still make TERRIBLE eating choices bc they don't experience the dumping the way that RNY patients although some sleeve patients do experience dumping... The way the surgeons explain it is this ... Band is resrtictive meaning it only limits how much you can eat, Sleeve is mostly restrictive,RNY is both restrictive and mal absorbative meaning you can't eat much and your body doesnt absorb all that you do eat thus creating "more" weightloss but the mal absorption is what causes the vitamin deficiency too.I have heard people at the support group say they are going to get the Sleeve bc they can still eat "normal" with it and I see that as indication that the sleeve may not work for them bc their "normal" is what got them to where they are... But any way you slice it if you don't change your head ANY WLS CAN FAIL ... I am thinking that maybe your PA or surgeon have doubt about whether or not you will comply with their assigned diet and that they feel they will have more weightloss success with RNY if your compliance is an issue but that would just be my guess.I don't want to deal with the vitamin deficiency an other problems that go along with RNY most times which is why I chose the Sleeve but I did go back and forth between RNY and Sleeve. -
Is The Band That Bad?
Kalimomof3 replied to SleeveandRNYchica's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My clinic does 3 surgeries bypass, sleeve and band. I read somewhere that 40% of all band patients have their bands removed due to one issue or another. I asked at the WLS seminar if this has been the experience at my clinic and the Nurse practitioner who is program manager said it is the case in our Bariatric program. With that being said 60% of our patients are maintaing their bands. For me a 40% revision rate is way too high! -

That is funny the day I posted in this topic it made me want to have CC and so I had and had dill pickles slices on the side as I don't like anything mixed in... My husband made so much fun of me he said good thing we know you are not pregnant lol.

I want to see pics, you look great in that one though!

I eat lowfat 1% great value cottage cheese from Walmart and it is my favorite I have tried all different brands of CC. I use salt and pepper or top with salsa and use as a dip. I eat fresh pineapple with cottage cheese on the side and add a sprinkle of salt to my pineapple.
