Though it sounds like dumping it also sounds like food poisoning. Eggs and cheese are notorious. You may want to just keep and eye on the quality of your food and not just the type.

What Is Your Eating Timeline?
Jbtoby replied to letsdothis!!!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My diet was the same up the purees. They are for 6 weeks. This is the schedule I got from both my surgeon's office and the hospital nutrionist. I am in the second week of pureed foods and so far so good so I will probably stick with what they have suggested. Down 33 pounds as of today. -
My doctor did not require any pre-op diet except the day before - clear liquids and I did not even do that completely. One fall back is not going to hurt. I think the sugar-free jello is definitely a great idea. It can be a life saver.

Lessons Learned At The Mexican Restaurant
Jbtoby replied to Patrick Curl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations, I am only 3 weeks in and have not been out yet but your experience gives me hope that life will look a little normal further down the road. -
Anewme, I had the same issue in my house. My partner made bacon, lettuce and tomato and I actually had to leave because of the smell of the bacon. Nothing else has made my mouth Water but the smell of the bacon was more than I could take.

I was sleeved on May 21st. My doctor did not require a pre-op diet so I am just starting from that point but I am down 27 pounds. However, I am not certain it is going that well. I am nauseous a lot of the time and have had almost constant bouts of diarrhea. Eating has become a drama - I am definitely not getting enough Protein but the more I drink the sicker I feel. Anyone else have anything like this?

I am only two weeks out so this is not from my own experience but I spoke to a number of sleevers and bypass friends who had the surgery years ago and this was their biggest complaint - not being able to eat as much as they used to. Even ten years out, one friend cannot get an entire appetizer down in one sitting. However, not anyone of them would go back. This is what got us in trouble before.

Terrified Of Anaesthesia!
Jbtoby replied to lunabella007's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had my gall bladder removed 5 years ago I remember feeling anxiety as they wheeled me into the operating room. However when I was sleeved two weeks ago they had me walk into the operating room. There were also others walking into their operating rooms. We wished each other good luck!! Once in the operating room I stepped up onto the operating table and was out within a few minutes. I think we feel lack of control in hospitals because we are told what to do all the time. Make certain you speak to your doctor and the anesthesiologist about your fears. They may be able to make small changes that help you feel less helpless. Good luck. -
Does Removing The Drain Hurt

I had mine removed yesterday. No pain but it does feel weird. It only takes 10 seconds to pull it out. -
Surgery Yesterday
Jbtoby replied to DinaMiller6450's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may be moving too fast. The day after my surgery I was only allowed an ounce of water per hour. Plain water or ice chips. It was not until the day after that I was allowed clear liquids with flavoring and I had to drink those very slowly to avoid nausea. One or two ounces an hour. Give yourself time. It will come slowly. -
I am in my fifties. My family is very supportive because I think they were afraid I would die at 58 of a heart attack as my father did. I have been very lucky. Don't let them wear you down. You need to do what is right for you. Some of us cannot keep the weight off without assistance.

I have something called WonderSlim that I got online. It comes in individual packets in a box. Each packet has 12-15 grams of Protein. There are clear drinks and creamy flavors. Good luck.

I would carry a flavored Protein powder in its original packet and an empty Water bottle. You can get water on the plane or in the airport and mix it together. Once you are past security you should be OK. I would also carry a letter from your doctor explaining what is going on. It may just quiet any TSA issues.

Please do not take this as any kind of criticism - I am a week post op and still trying to absorb all of the information. My doctor and the hospital gave me very specific instructions about what to eat. At six weeks I will still be on pureed foods. I will be able to eat eggs but bacon and hash browns would have to be pureed. I am not allowed any solid food for at least eight weeks. Maybe they are overly cautious and maybe I will not stick to this. You may need to take a step back to softer food if this continues.

Confused About Clear Fluids...
Jbtoby replied to Dizzle's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Though protein powder makes the liquid cloudy it is still considered clear liquid as long as you mix it with water or some other clear liquid like broth. -
Odd Post Surgery Things
Jbtoby replied to twistedkitten25's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a week post surgery and I had many of the same issues - A headache for 4 days - I was a diet coke addict and kept drinking up to the day before my surgery. I think I was having a caffeine headache. I took some tylenol and bullied my way through it. By day 4 the headache was gone. I had diarrhea for the first 5 days. The nurse at the hospital said that happens to a lot of people. If it went more than a week then make certain to call the doctor. Bowel movements are still not pre surgery but they are better. The scaping of your throat may be correct. I have post nasal drip and everything I coughed up was bloody. It took a few days to get through that also. Give it a few more days. Bring it up with the doctor if it does not go away. -
United Healthcare - Still Waiting On Approval ...
Jbtoby replied to Estrovan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The psych eval was very simple but there may be some things you want to think about before you go. Why are you doing this? For your health, to make you happy, to solve all your problems (correct answer - for your health). What are you going to do instead when you want to eat? During the psych eval, the evaluator told me she knows people who started smoking and drinking because they needed to replace eating. Not the way to go!! Do you have something to keep your hands occupied - knitting, video games, etc? How are you going to handle the urge to snack? There are no right or wrong answers to any of these but, they got me thinking about what I was going to do. Good luck. -
Not Ready For Protein Shakes - What's A Newbie To Do?

Sorry if you got a partial message from me - I wanted to look up a price for you. I have found something called WonderSlim online. 7 packets are 12.99. I have the Cran-Grape and the the berry Blend. They have been going down very well. I have been having bouts of nausea since my surgery 6 days ago. I have found I need to sip very slowly. No more than a small sip every two minutes or so. As long as I do that I have been keeping the nausea at bay. -
To the Jersey City Member, I live in Orange County New York but after research chose Dr, Edward Pucci. He has offices in Ridgewood NJ. I had my surgery at Englewood Hospital. They were wonderful, he was wonderful, his staff are wonderful. I feel lucky to have found him. He is in a practice with his two brothers, Anthony and Richard. I have met them all and they are all very nice and helpful. It may be worth checking them out.

I also have UHC and I have a BMI of 46. It took about 3 weeks to get approval. I was beginning to worry when I did not hear from them but the letter came through on day 22. Hang in there. Hopefully you will hear from them soon. -
I had my sleeve surgery on Monday. The surgery went well but recovery was scary. I constantly stopped breathing. They put me on oxygen and then a Bi-Pap machine. Though I have had little pain I have felt weak and constantly nauseas. I am hoping it will pass. In the last 5 days I questioned this decision over and over. Why did I have to go through surgery when all I had to do was stop eating?!? However, at age 50 that wasn't working. Hang in there - I have spoken to many folks who have had each of the surgeries and have not found anyone who regretted it in the long term. Hopefully we are all on our way to better health - and a new wardrobe!!
