I just want to cry because I don't want the rest of my life to revolve around counting calories and dieting. It seems like I'm going to be on a diet for the rest of my life.

Post-op day #4 down 16lbs

My starting weight was 269 and I am now 253!

I was told that pasta is acceptable as long as I eat my protein first and still have room.

I know that really sweet foods cause dumping but can bagels and hard rolls? My favorite breakfast food is a bagel and I'd like to know if it has the potential to cause dumping.

Thank you and I'm trying to stay strong! It's easier today than it was yesterday and I'm sure tomorrow will be easier as well.

I'm post-op day #3, I've been craving a variety of foods all day. First it was macaroni and cheese, then tortilla chips, then sloppy joes, now a nice big soft pretzel with salt and cheese. Is it because I'm hungry or is it mind hunger? How can I beat mind hunger? The consequences of eating those foods right now would be vomiting which I absolutely hate doing so it's helping me stay away but I'm so afraid that I'm going to go crazy in my own mind that I'll give in. What can I do to keep from giving in?

Thankfully I had one last ***ht and instant relief afterwards. A lot of the gas pain went away and overall I just felt better. Now I'm burping and passing gas a lot and with each one I'm feeling so much better. Definitely feeling better today than I was yesterday.

Pain Pump In Hospital?
RissyRoe replied to Laceyloveland's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before I was taken into the O.R the anesthesialogist put a patch behind my ear for nausea that lasted 24 hours. After I woke up I was a little nauseous from anethesia but not enough to make me vomit so I was given Zofran IV. I was given a Dilaudid PCA pump and it helped a lot especially when I needed sleep. It caused slight nausea though so I was given Zofran IV every 2 hours. I was also given Toradol IV every 12 hours because I was in a lot of pain. I went in on a Monday and left in a Wednesday. No drain. Since I've been home I've taken liquid Tylenol twice. -

Back Problems Cant Sleep

I found that laying on my left side helped with the gas a lot. I just started sleeping on my stomach last ***ht on post-op day 3. Find a position that's comfortable, it won't hurt you. -

I've always had a high tolerance to sweet things and carbs so I think I'll be okay. I can't wait to have a bagel though, they're my favorite Congratulations on being two years post-op! What's your total weight loss? -

Exactly, I think the only way we would get it is if we drank with meals and binged. -
Back Problems Cant Sleep
RissyRoe replied to colebort's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first two days I had the advantage of the hospital bed which can position you in different degrees but once I got home I found it difficult to find a comfortable position. I have such horrible gas pains still that I can't get much sleep. Definitely better every day though, up until yesterday I even put pressure on my sides. -
Back Problems Cant Sleep
RissyRoe replied to colebort's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 days post-op and I'm just starting to lay on my right side. If I didn't have gas pain I'd be laying on my stomach. -
A lot of it has hinge away but there's a little bit that has floated up into my chest and esophageal area. I even have some lingering on my left side. Today will be post-op day #4, when will it go away? It's so uncomfortable and at times makes it hard to swallow and lay in certain positions. Besides walking is there anything I can do to get it out quicker?

Thanks for the input guys -
I am 3 days post-op and today is my first day of full liquids. As I was reading the pamphlet my surgeon gave me, it said I should have a bowel movement by post-op day 3 but I have yet to have one. Should I take milk of mag to induce it it wait it out? Also, it's taking me 90+ minutes to finish a shake because it fills me so quickly, since each shake is 25g of protein would I be okay with 2 1/2 shakes a day? Before surgery I just barely took in 64oz, I'm finding it hard to get it FL in during the day and I'm wondering if I'd be okay with a little less. Since I'm on full liquids I thought I'd try sugar free sherbet since it's my favorite, hoping that will help get my fluid intake up a bit. Any advice and suggestions welcome!

So I'm taking Pepcid 2x daily, Actigall 2x daily, 500mg of chewable calcium 2x daily, a chewable multivitamin, blood pressure med once daily, iron at bed time, and vitamin D twice a week. I feel like I'm swallowing a while drug store every day, any one else on a lot of meds?

I appreciate the support from the people who aren't rude, it means a lot and it's helping me stay focused. So far everyone has agreed that the response was out of line but it's okay. I pay attention to the positive input because that is what I'm here for. Thank you for your encouragement!

Regular pudding is on my list of approved foods which was given to me by my doctor. It wouldn't be good if I had a few of them a day but I had maybe 1/4 of the cup and then I was satisfied.

That's actually a great idea, thank you!

Thank you Paige I appreciate it.

Basically what I'm asking for the people who have advice to give, I know for a fact that I won't touch anything but full liquids, but how can I handle mind hunger better so that's it's easier to overcome?
