How much weight has this whole forum lost
thetxdiva replied to cheryl2586's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I've lost 92 pounds. -
I know there are quite a few medications we shouldn't take due to erosion of the pouch. I get severe headaches. What can I take to subside the pain? I have one right now and it is killing me! Help!?!

I was always a sweets girl. I love sweets. I can't really consume beads anymore. I get that stuck feeling. So I just stay away. Haven't bought a loaf since February! I miss cakes and pies. Everyone always tells me, ”one bite won't kill you!” But they don't understand that leads to 42 bites... Lol I had a bite of brownie today. Then had a half size grilled chicken salad for lunch. I have the tendency of feeling overwhelming guilt when I eat something I shouldn't. Like I'm letting someone down, but the only person I'm truly disappointing is myself. My sweet tooth fix is actually frozen light cool whip. Takes away my sweet tooth and its got very little sugar and only 25 calories. Just a thought.

I was banded with True Results on April 24th with Dr. Wilkenfeld. Great surgeon. Great doctors office. True Results is a great kick board to get you started, very informative and definitely helped me in many positive ways. Although always listen to your surgeon, his information might vary in some ways compared to what true results gives you. I have to say I have lost 70 pounds to date, and I just had my first fill last Wednesday! Been an awesome experience!

Kent: if you still have not found a doctor, which by now I'm sure you have. I live in south Houston. While my surgeon was contracted through true results, he is great, and I highly recommend him. I don't deal with true results, I just drove the extra distance and I feel like I'm being cared for in a much more professional manner. His name is Dr. Richard Wilkenfeld, he is in Conroe off of 242. They do barium swallows with each fill. He is great!

I love hearing everyones methods. I was very open about my surgery. I was ecstatic that I had made this powerful decision to change my life around. Although it was spontaneous for me, I did A TON of research on all the different types of surgery available for weight loss. If someone was against my decision to have surgery, or was even skeptical, I explained it thoroughly. I wanted everyone to know I had made my decision with research and the proper tools. It has paid off tremendously! I go in for my first fill today, after being banded on April 24. I LOVE MY LAP BAND, AND I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW IT CHANGED MY LIFE! Yay for all of us for taking control over the food! That food no longer controls me!

The Funhouse Mirror Effect
thetxdiva replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I needed this desperately! My mirrors are my worst nightmares at times, they have been known to defeat me and make me feel less than beautiful. It is a constant struggle. Daily I tell myself, ” Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is ”the present.” What happened yesterday cannot affect my outcome for tomorrow. I have to keep trying. Keep my goal in my head. Those numbers are haunting me. Again thank you so much! Inspiration is always beneficial. -
Smoothie King actually makes a fantastic protein powder! 45 grams of protein, 180 calories, less than 1 gram of carbs, less than a gram of sugar. Good flavor. Chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla. Although I use vanilla because it is the most versatile. Awesome with almond milk and some frozen coffee cubes which I make at night! delicious.

First fill is tomorrow! I was banded and plicated April 24, 2012. I have lost a total of 66 pounds since February when I began my journey. I've read so many positive and negative things alike, I am nervous for my first fill tomorrow. Does anyone have any words of encouragement? Is it truthfully painful? Eeeekkk!

Starting To Have Doubts... Any Advice?
thetxdiva replied to kvr1977's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery in any form is scary. You need to look at the lap band as a tool. It is not the easy way out by any means. I started out my journey at 342 pounds. I am now down to 279. That big number was a hell of a lot scarier than the thoughts of having surgery to help me correct it. Having a support system, such as this website is a necessity to work through your issues and concerns. It makes you aware that things can happen, but it is also a place where EVERY SINGLE PERSON relates to your situation. The lap band has its pros and cons, just as everything in life does. Just know that in the end, all of the pain and struggles you will endure, are so with it. You're worth it. There will be hurdles. You will overcome them. And when you hit your goal weight, nothing will bring you down. You at that point in time will know, how worth it your life changing decision really was! Good luck!
