Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I have not been on here in a while, I think that is what happens when we get to be a year out, we are busy with other things - like life! September 14th is my date, I started out as an 18/20 and 225lb and am now in a size 8 or 6 and am at 150. I'd still like to lose 5 more, but ok if it doesn't happen. I'm more about toning up and adding muscle now. I do squats and lift weights for my arms every day. I still have days were I just don't see it, and I'll always be one of those that have to log everything in my fitness pal because my head plays tricks on me! I'm so thankful for my sleeve and am glad everyone is hanging in there! Look at how far we have come in a year!
  2. I am 5' 3.5" and am 42. I also began with a 40 BMI at 225lbs. I am 11 months out and down 73lbs. and in a size 8 with about 7 lbs to goal. My body has changed several times over the course with some belly and thigh skin loosing up and then righting up. I began lifting weights as soon as I could and now they are part if my routine so my arms have responded well. These last 3 months things have slowed down but my weight seems to be redistributing and I'm now focused on tightening up more than anything! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Lissa, you look wonderful! green, I am also curious about my labs in September! I have done so many things this summer now that I am 70lbs lighter that I never thought I would again! I began at 225lb and am now 155lb. I really want to lose about 10 more lbs and one more size, but I'm ok with it. I sometimes get really confused on amount of calories, which seems weird! I was stalled for over a month and my husband (who is a football coach) kept telling me to up my calories and I told him he was crazy and then I finally decided to try it and the scale started moving again! I was eating about 800-900 and now I consistently get around 1000-1100 and I feel better. I have more energy. I am now trying more to strengthen and tighten everything so that is why I'm not very stressed about the last 10lbs. Great job everyone!

Binging or just plain eating bad

We have all been there, when I feel like I need to gain back control I plan plan plan everything! I make sure and have all my Protein Snacks and meals on hand and I measure it out and put it in ziplocs. I know what I'm going to cook for dinner and then I stick to it! I'm one if those I have to track everything in My Fitness Pal because my brain likes to play tricks on me! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Dr David Kim/Dr Bridget Holden

I was sleeved 9 months ago by Dr. Holden. She also fixed a hiatal hernia and I have not had any acid issues since! Trophy Club was top notch! I was the first surgery and after my leak test the next morning I was dressed and ready to go and was discharged that afternoon so I spent one night. Dr. Kim's staff is top notch and when I go in for my checkups they answer all my questions and are supportive. I have lost 70 lbs and 5 sizes and have 10 more lbs to go. Best thing I have ever done! Will i loose my big girls?

I am down 70 lbs and 10 lbs to goal, and have gone from a 44DD to a 36C/D and they have deflated! I'm ok with the smaller size for my smaller body but at some point I'm going to need a lift! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    The goal weight number

Laura, don't get me wrong, I still weigh at least every other day, I just have been so surprised by that at this point my goals have changed more to fixing the flabby because I can see the goal in lbs and size in sight! I never ever thought I would get to that point! But I am also one of those that have to log every bite because my mind is not truthful with me! It might tell me you have eaten way too much today when I actually haven't! Or it might whisper go ahead and have 2 Cookies...in which case I tell it to shut up, or I eat 1 cookie, log it and move on! I am also with you on me being 42 and my parts hanging a little lower! I seem to be ok on skin but my poor "girls" have deflated! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    The goal weight number

I am 9 1/2 months out and I originally had a number in mind that I would have been totally happy with. I made that number and have reevaluated it several times. What is funny is that at some point along the way I quit stressing over the scale number and as I became more active it became more about toning and tightening and endurance for me! I also decided instead of the scale number, more about a size for me in clothes that nine months ago I would have thought was impossible! I have about 10 lbs and 1 more size to go, but I know it will happen in the next 2 months! My doctor did tell me for my frame he wouldn't want to see me in the low normal range for my bmi but that is all he said. But of course that is because when I go in I'm one of "those people" with spreadsheets, charts and my fitness pal printouts! LOL Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Do you ever..

I am with everyone else, seeing myself reflected can definitely still catch me off guard. I also catch myself still having trouble believing I can cross my legs and keep them that way for as long as I want! Or I will wrap my hand around my own wrist and am amazed that I can do that. It is weird! I also recently went away for three days and as I'm putting my clothes in my suitcase my husband pointed out that just cause my clothes are so little now, does that mean I need 20 outfits and I thought he is right! Unexpected bonus my clothes don't take up near as much space in my luggage, which leave more room for lots of shoes

    movie snacks

I pop my own 100 calorie popcorn at home put it in a ziplock and smuggle it on in! I also like the cocoa almonds or beef Jerky and if I'm really craving it I might take one sugar free piece of candy. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Jenn, I actually have been upping my calories this last month and try to push to get somewhere between 1000 to 1100 and usually am pretty close. But I think you are right that my body went oh look she had 2 bites of bread and some vodka cranberrys! Lol. I don't care I'll take it and try to switch things up a bit! Maybe now that my exercise level is higher maybe I need to extra calories. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Had something very confusing happen this weekend! I have been in a stall for like a month and still have like 13 lbs to goal, but I have just been thinking if I just keep making good choices, getting my protein in, drinking lots of water and I have upped my cardio I would eventually get there, right? This weekend went to Shreveport for my dad's birthday and thought I'm going to splurge and not feel guilty and get back on track on Monday, so I have many low-cal cocktails, a bite or two of dessert, movie popcorn and snacked! I know I consumed a lot more calories than I have been up to this point and got on the scale this morning and lost a lb!!! What is that about???? I was really stuck for the last month but doing everything right and then do what I consider now splurging this weekend and it got the scale moving again? Makes no sense to me! Anyone else have any theories?
  13. I'm 5'3 1/2 and 8 months out. Began my journey at 225 and am now 156 and trying to get to 145. So almost at 70 lbs. it has really slowed down but I expected that the closer you are to goal and the smaller percentage you have to lose. This has been the best thing I have ever done! I have lost 5 sizes gone from an 18/20 to 8's and 10's. I'm so much more active. I don't consider that I was a lightweight, I agree with Laura, fat is fat. My BMI was almost 40!! I will get there by just keeping on keeping on! Sent from my iPhone using VST

newgrandmother, thank you for the encouraging words, I guess maybe our bodies just need us to be patient and keep on keeping on! Every day is a new day with our sleeves and I know I am so thankful for all the changes in my life! I never guessed that the psychological part would be the hardest! I do know that I have adopted that this is my lifestyle now and I just eat normally. I make sure and pack healthy protein snacks and lunch, but I don't stress if I'm going out to eat, I just pick a healthy option on the menu and eat my portion of it. I think that by losing a little slower I know that my skin is doing pretty good, I'm lifting weights and doing squats, etc. as I'm going and other than deflated chest all the other skin seems to tighten.

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I haven't posted in a while, but am so thankful when I read here and know that I am not the only one that sometimes needs motivation. I'm right in that same boat as for-me-and-only-me and newgrandmother. I am bouncing between 159-160 am 8 months out and feel like I'm never going to get to 145. Some days my head messes with me and I feel I have eaten too much, so that is why I am one of those that has to log everything in MFP so that I can see, no you idiot you are right where you are supposed to be. I also feel some days like I'm just confused on what to eat. I used to know what I needed to eat, so I don't understand why I feel this way! I am truly grateful for losing 5 sizes and my journey so far, but I feel like I'm off track. My scale has not moved much in the last few months. Help!

    Incorporating more vegetables...

I try to eat a few veggies each day, lately I am obsessed with asparagus. I rub a little olive oil, garlic and lemon juice on it and then grill it or bake it. The weird thing is before surgery, I never ate asparagus! I also eat green Beans or broccoli often. I'm 8 months out. One of my favorite meals is to take shrimp and put some Chipolte seasoning on it and then put the shredded cabbage mix and some hot sauce on the shrimp, yummy! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Stretch marks and boobs question

Mine have gone from 44dd to 38c so far. It is nice to have the smaller bras but boy do they need some good support now! I guess my fat was holding them up, because they are very deflated! Lol. I'm doing a lot with weights like chest presses but not sure if it is helping! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  19. I like margaritas, only now I buy the Skinnygirl ones. A serving is 100 calories. They are tart because less sugar but I put a little crystal light (any flavor you want in them) and they are yummy! I also do the diet cranberry and vodka. I'm 8 months out and one drink is plenty for me Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Just ate a Wendy's cheeseburger!

I'm 8 months out and I do still track everything in MFP. But that is because I am still 10 lbs to goal. I have changed my eating habits completely, but I don't stress if I'm out to eat at somewhere like a hamburger place. I just pick the best thing I can off the menu. A few weeks ago with co-workers I just had a jr burger at Mooya and it was wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. I ate 1/2 and was done. Not something I would do every day or once a week, but I just logged it in MFP and it was fine! If I'm at home and cooking my family hamburgers I just cook myself a jenni-o turkey patty with a little mozzarella cheese on top and go with it! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Vets: Calling all consistent loggers on MFP!

I'm 7 1/2 months out and I log in MFP every day. I'm tearle1 on there! I have a smaller group on there and we like to encourage each other!

    DR.KIM

Baylor TC was very very nice! Also, I think there were only a handful of other patients on my whole floor, so as I was up walking laps I was the only one out there! All the nurses would encourage me and were very pleasant and competent! The first 24 hours were rough simply because you cannot have anything by to drink at all until you do your swallow test the morning after surgery, and with the oxygen right after surgery your mouth will be very very dry. But it was not that long of a time period and once you get through it and at home you will be on a wonderful journey! I was only there one night and was dressed and waiting the next day in the chair when Dr. Kim's PA, David (who is incredible) stopped by to see how I was doing. Good luck and let us know how you are doing!
  23. Surgery 9/14/12 HW: 225 CW:160 GW:145-150 Have lost 5 sizes and over 65 inches. Totally happy with my sleeve. Currently a size 8 and hope to lose about 10 more lbs. I know these last 10 are going to be slower. I have started besides cardio really doing strength training (squats, crunches, weights and bands) just in my own den every night and in a very short amount of time, everything is really toning up!

    DR.KIM

Dr. Kim did my sleeve 7 months ago at Baylor Trophy Club. He is a top notch surgeon and his staff is wonderful. Just had my check up last Monday. I had a very easy surgery and an easy recovery. I'm down 65 lbs, 5 sizes and over 60 inches. I have about 15 pounds to goal and I'm so thankful to Dr. Kim and his staff! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Outback?

Last time I went, I split a 6oz steak and lobster tail with my daughter, it was on special. I got asparagus as my side and ate just a few bites of the steak and about 1/2 the lobster tail! Yummy! Sent from my iPhone using VST
