  1. Finished week one of my two week pre-op liquid diet, down 8 pounds. Even though at times it has been hard, it was nice having friends at work today tell me they can already tell I'm losing weight! I can definitely tell in my clothes and inches. I will now go have another shake!

    Any September People

jeepermom, my pre-op and yours are pretty identical! I'm on day 5 and have lost 5 pounds. I got really shakey one day over the weekend and had one cup of cream of mushroom soup instead of just one cup of chicken broth and I felt a little better. I do feel a little more in control today, this weekend preparing food for my kiddos because my husband was working my mouth was actually watering! I just popped some SF gum in a chewed and chewed, LOL! Everyone hang in there!

    No Regrets!

My surgery is September 14. Makes me so happy when I ready comments like yours! I am on day 5 of my 14 day liquid diet and any little bit of encouragement helps! Thank you!
  4. Thanks amandatxgrl, nice to know in a couple of days it will get a little better!
  5. I'm on day 2 and feel a little shaky, anyone else feel this way? I'm on a pretty strict 4 shakes a day with SF jello or Popsicles and 1 cup chicken broth a day. Any suggestions?
  6. I agree, thank y'all for the support! It helps so much to know that we are all going through the same thing! We can do this!
  7. Thank you so much for your story. I am two weeks pre-op and just started my liquid diet today, so needed some encouragement. I also love theworldaccordingtoeggface and have been trying out her recipes in advance! I am just hoping to get through the next 14 days and on to my surgery!
  8. I just started my liquid diet today and I have 14 days. I'm with everyone on being a little bit moody and needing something to chew. I'm hoping at least since I'll be off work on Monday that maybe by Tuesday I won't be so grumpy! I think one of the hardest thing for me will be cooking for my husband and 10 year old and 9 year old. How did anyone else handle this? Or, maybe they will just be doing a lot of take out or cooking grilled cheese for themselves! LOL.

    No Turning Back Now...

The lady at my doctor's office called me to tell me I had been approved. I was sitting at work and had a total feeling of elation! Then, we had to look at dates and get all the other pre-op things set up so it has been a whirlwind this week! I'm having my EGD tomorrow, had pre-op at the hospital today and begin my liquid diet next Friday, August 31st. So it is all moving quickly now! They actually told me when I first started this journey in April that Cigna did cover the procedure and then I just had to complete all the requirements and follow the nutrition program so I hope yours goes through too!

    Pre-Op Diet

My surgery date is Sept 14, and just got my instructions for my pre-op diet to begin August 31st. I can have Five BariEssential Shakes a day plus 1 8oz cup of chicken broth and the usual sf jello and popsicles. Yikes! I must say even though I am following my pre-diet and already doing a shake for breakfast, I am very nervous about 14 days of this! I guess we all just need to think that this is only temporary! Hang in there!

Light at the end of the tunnel. And, I know that the real work is just beginning, but boy am I excited and ready to begin the journey!

Got Approved And My Surgery Date Today!

Thank you everyone so much! This forum has answered so many of my questions, and good luck to everyone else that is in September. I know my list of things I still need to get is getting longer every minute now that I know I only have 4 weeks. I just plan to stay on the plan right now and take one step at a time!

I'm in Mansfield and my surgery will be with Dr. Kim hopefully mid-September. Finished all my requirements just today and just waiting on insurance approval! Nice to know so many fellow Texans going through this life-changing journey too!

    Sudden Hopelessness.......

I am in the final couple of appointments then wait to see if I'm approved, so I really understand that nervousness about being approved. I had to do 3 months of classes and I lost like a pound! I did not really understand yet what was expected of me and what exactly I needed to eat and focus on. About two weeks ago I really started following some sleevers on YouTube and reading some books and it just clicked. I'm using myfitnesspal.com to track all of my food, calories and protein, my focus is getting it 70 or so g of protein, eating protein first, fruits and veggies next and chewing slowly and I have lost 5 lbs in a week, so hang in there you can do it!
