Help! 2 Months Out
happilysleeved replied to magee2318's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 weeks out today and doing the same thing! But I am staying under all my goals on calories, fat, carbs, sugar, etc. and getting in 80 or so grams of protein each day, so I guess it is all right! I carry little packets of peanut butter, babybel cheese, cheese sticks, yogurt and cottage cheese everywhere with me so if I get caught somewhere I have my protein! Magee have you tried Isopure protein drink? It is not like a shake, but more like Gatorade only with no sugar, carbs and low calories. It is the first thing I drink in the mornings while getting dressed. It comes in big bottles, I drink 8 oz in the morning and start out with 16 g of protein and only 60 cal and 0 carbs. I get them at Vitamin Shoppe if you have one of those! -
I'm one month out and I gurgle more now that I'm progressing through the food phases. But, I can tell you I will take a little gurgling in order to be healthy! I'm so pleased with my sleeve and excited about the future, I'll take my noisy little stomach!!

I also use my fitness pal and am 4 1/2 weeks out. I was only getting about 500 calories in, but plenty of protein and liquids in and was in a stall. This week I upped my calories a bit to 700 and am having to work at really getting that in, but have lost 1.5 in 2 days after being in a stall!

Subconsciously Changing My Mind About Surgery
happilysleeved replied to Tiffany D's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think it is pretty normal to have those "I'm not sure" feelings all the way up until surgery! I had, like you researched and organized and planned, etc. I had an "aha" moment in one of my nutrition classes where everything just clicked and I knew this was the absolute right choice for me. I had tried everything too! Gone up and down and up and down, and I knew that I needed the "tool" of the gastric sleeve surgery to help me not only reach my goals, but to stick with it! I had my sleeve on 9/14/12. I have not had any problems, but I'm following my plan, getting my protein and liquids in! Before surgery I was 225, day of surgery 217 and today 197 at 4 weeks out. But, more importantly, the changes in how I feel and how much exercise I am able to do and the energy I already have for my family are what has reconfirmed I made the right decision. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Good luck on your journeys! -

I am right at three weeks post-op and have been waiting for a day and a half anxiously and this morning I hit 199! I am so thankful for my sleeve and this is such a wonderful opportunity. I'm 26 lbs down including pre-op and 18 lbs down since surgery. I have also lost 20 inches overall. I put on a size smaller pants today to wear to work, whoo hoo! -
Weight Loss Stalls?
happilysleeved replied to Carly4HandinSD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 1/2 weeks out and have been stalled for 3 days so far. It is so strange, because my head knows that this is normal after reading everyone's posts, it is just hard when you are getting your fluids and protein in and the scale doesn't move! Hang in there everyone! -

Dr David Kim Colleyville
happilysleeved replied to berthaeaster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved at Baylor-Trophy Club on 9/14. Had a small hernia repair, was dressed and ready to go home after my leak test the next morning. Only took one dose of the liquid pain meds once I got home. He is an extremely competent surgeon and his PA and staff are excellent. They have answered every question and have been supportive in my journey. Went back to work after 9 days and currently on the puréed stage. Have lost 27 overall and 19 in the 3 weeks. -
I'm still on pureed for another week, but my lunch was still yummy! I had about a 1/4 cup of pulled pork with some broth pureed, and a couple of bites of black-eyed peas pureed.

Restaurant Food Choices? 19 Days Post Op.
happilysleeved replied to N/A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 21 days post op and on purées and have eaten out a couple is times and have gotten a cup of a creamier soup or broth if you can, and it was great! I just ate very slowly, I even quietly got one of my small plastic spoons out of my purse and used that! It was weird to see the quantity everyone else was eating and realize I used to eat that much but now have no desire to!!! -
I Already Feel Weak....
happilysleeved replied to mendymayhem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three weeks post op, hang in there! Have you tried other sources to get in your liquids and protein? The first thing I still drink in the morning while I'm getting ready for work is 8 oz of Isopure, liquid and protein Gatorade type drink. Also, try a bouillon cube in water, when I was just sleeved the warmth and taste went down easy, I would put some Unjury chicken flavor protein on it. I take Celebrate multivitamin and also a sublingual B-12 and I really think that helps with energy! Good Luck! -

Thank you so much for everyone's encouragement! This forum has been great, because even though my friends, family and husband are very supportive, everyone on this forum totally "gets it"! Because we are all on the same journey! Have a great weekend everyone. -
Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

My teeth also feel fuzzy, brushing my teeth a lot! Also, using lots of SF breath mints! 2nd day on purées and everything has been going really good, but I took some puréed tuna salad to work today and was really looking forward to it, but something about the smell or texture of it, I just couldn't do it! And I love Tuna! Luckily, not having any issues with egg salad or refried beans with cheese and a little salsa in it, they are both yum! I'm also pureeing up some thicker soups and they taste good. -

happilysleeved replied to AngelBaby's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is wonderful! You look great! I'm also almost three weeks out and I'm 17 lbs down since surgery and 26 lbs down overall and just knowing that they are never coming back makes me happy every day! -
Starting Full Liquids Too Soon Bad Idea?
happilysleeved replied to Chezaraeh's topic in Food and Nutrition
Broth was not my favorite but I would do the chicken and add the Unjury protein powder chicken flavor to it, also get some bouillon cubes and dissolve in hot water, the tasted much better than broth. I am 2 weeks post op and still on full liquids for another week, I have had all kinds of creamy soups strained and have been taking it slow but not had any problems. I'm looking forward to puréed next Friday! -
I Don't Think This Is Good...
happilysleeved replied to buforu21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before my sleeve (I'm 2 weeks post-op) I would have acid reflux frequently due to a hiatal hernia, which they fixed during my sleeve. I have found that OTC Prilosec is what really helps and have been on that for a long time. I would also have the acid a lot at night when I would lay down. I then began taking it around 4-6 pm with my dinner and the problems at night cleared up! All of this was pre-sleeve and then funny thing is that since my surgery I have not had any acid problems at all! LOL. But, my doctor will still have me on Prilosec for a while. -
Pre-Op Diet Problem...help Please...
happilysleeved replied to LadyK's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I also was low on potassium before I even began my 2 week pre-op diet. My NUT had me drink 4oz. of V-8 juice for the first couple of days. I just looked at all the flavors and weighed which one had the most potassium and the least amount of sugar in it. During my pre-op diet, I was also having 4 protein shakes a day that were BariEssentials Pro and it had lots of vitamins, minerals and fiber in it. They helped with the sluggishness and cramps, also after your body adjusts for a few days it will be better! Just hang in there, your surgery is close. I'm 10 days post-op and can truly say I would do it again in a heart beat and I'm still on full liquids for another 12 days! -
I'm on full liquids right now, was sleeved 9/14/12 and my list is anything that was on clear liquids, plus protein shakes and creamy strained soups and skim milk. I'm on full liquids for 2 weeks and then move to pureed.

September Sleveers Whats Your Progress?
happilysleeved replied to jentheyo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 14th, only stayed one night in hospital and no pain meds needed once home. One week tomorrow and down 10 lbs since surgery, ready to move from clear liquids to full liquids tomorrow! Feel good no problems! -
Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call
happilysleeved replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on the 14th so I'm four days out. Everything went really smooth and was only at the hospital 24 hours and only took one dose of pain meds once I was home, been waling and following my clear liquids exactly and was really glad to see I had lost 8 pounds since surgery and had lost 8 pounds pre-op so total 16. My first week diet is pretty strict and I cannot have protein shakes or soup yet, just water, Isopure, broth, popsicles, propel and crystal light. I'm not having too much trouble getting liquid in and am averaging about 50 ounces a day, but yesterday I had tons of energy and today I was really tired. I called the nurse and because I was running to the bathroom for the past two days with BM's she told me to do liquid Immodium and that my liquid was going out as fast as I was putting it in! Sigh, that is frustrating. She also told me it was ok for me to get some bouillan cubes and that would boost me, so I have had a cup of that today. I was also told to begin my chewable vitamin immediatly and I think they probably help! -
Any September People
happilysleeved replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on September 14, so I guess I am three days post-op. I was released from the hospital the next day and seem to be doing pretty good! Don't need any pain meds at home, it is just sore. I also and trying, trying to get all the liquids in and can make it about 48 oz, but not getting enought protein. Anyone have any suggestions? I have been drinking Isopure and doing chicken broth with some Unjury protein sprinkled in, but I'm really just wanting water! -

Good luck to all the Septembe 14 people! My surgery was at 1:00pm but got a call this evening that I was moved up to the first slot at 7am, so have to be there at 5:30am! Yikes! At least not much time to get nervous! -
Super Frustrated
happilysleeved replied to Liamlover2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre-op also, and am getting sleeved on Friday. I also was trying to lose pre-op before my liquid diet and started eating sort of like we will be eating after VSG, only probably a few more calories. I reduced my calories to around 1000 and concentrated on getting 60-80 grams of protein. I was also using an app called myfitnesspal to record my calories and protein. So for lunch I was eating maybe 3-4 shrimp, a boiled egg, 1/4 cup of low carb greek yogurt and a handful of nuts or maybe a baby orange. Always just did small portion, hight protein, low carb and sugar and lost 10 pounds pretty easy. Hope this helps! Hang in there!
