Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I'm with you ArtSong, I was sleeved 9/14/12 and am down 54 lbs and I was really happy with that, 3 weeks ago! Scale has not moved in three weeks and I'm worried that I'm doing something wrong! I still getting in all my protein and water and eating around 800 calories, and I know stalls happen and to be patient but to get on the scale and find it has not moved is upsetting! I could up my exercise, only getting to walk 3 days a week or so plus some strength training at home due to my work schedule and my kids activites schedule. This stall has me feeling really down!

    red lobster? what to eat?

We ate at Olive Garden last week for a birthday and I got the herb salmon with asparagus and broccoli and it was good! Got three meals out of it! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  3. I would also suggest Tilapia or Salmon. They are both my go-to when I'm at a resteraunt and not sure on healthy choices there. I do ask to make sure they don't cook them in butter or put sauces on them! I am one of those that all my co-workers, family and most friends know about my surgery but just today encountered a funny a lunch. After a meeting a group of 6 women stopped at a new diner-type place. Now, I'm not usually nervous eating out anymore because I can usually find something, only eat a 1/3 of it and take the rest home or split with someone. But, for lunch their choices were meatlof, lazagna, chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken or finally baked chicken with stuffing. So, I tell the server I would like the baked chicken, but she could just leave off the stuffing and then fresh green Beans. She says, "Our stuffing is really good, do you want me to put some on there for you?", and I said no, thanks I just want the chicken. She pressed me again and my friend looked at her and said, "She.does.not.want.the.stuffing" LOL! Just be persistant!

    Any Regrets?

I absolutely have no regrets, best thing I have ever done! I am a huge planner, so before surgery I bought all kinds of Protein powder, chicken broth, measuring cups, little spoons, plates, etc. Most of it has come in handy, except I wish I had not bought so much chicken broth and different Soups, I'm 4 1/2 months out and I still have it running out my ears! Plus, our tastebuds change after surgery and so I would really wait on buying too much in the way of Protein shakes. I have several people in my family that have a lapband and several people at work that have the band, so when I decided on the sleeve I had no problem telling anyone and they were all really happy for me and my decision. But, I totally agree with gmanbat, I really was just telling them what I had decided and did not really ask for anyone's opinion except my hubby! The hardest thing for me now is to curb that tendancy to talk continuously about protein, or some great recipe I found, or getting embarrassed when people compliment me! I'm 54 lbs down and 36 lbs from goal, and I am more confident, have more energy and overall feel so much better!

    fluid pills

Before my surgery in September, I was on a beta blocker with a diuretic in it. About two weeks before surgery my doctor had me go to just a straight beta blocker so as to not get dehydrated after. About 1 month out I went to my regular doctor and my BP was really low, so we cut the dose by 3/4. No swelling now and all numbers are good but the diuretic will definitely not help with your fluids or potassium levels. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Momofthing1thing2, I found a fish oil at the Vitamin Shop that is called Coromega 3 squeeze in orange flavor and it is a little packet and you squeeze it in to your mouth and it is like liquid orange, not bad at all! My hair and skin were getting really dry and this seems to have helped. I also take the Celebrate multicomplete vitamins specifically for the gastric sleeve, extra B12, D3, calcium and biotin every day! Just had my 4 month check up with full labs (they took 6 vials of blood) and the doctor said all my vitamins are great! I also know that I could not get 70-90g of protein a day without one shake in the morning, just a RTD one. I couldn't eat that much food, so I totally understand. Hang in there!

    No energy

I also found 2 things that helped with liquids and Protein at first. Isopure, which is like Gatorade in glass bottles, got it at Vitamin Shop and GNC. Low calorie, no carb and protein! I also order Special K2O Protein Mix from Amazon, like crystal light only with protein, put some in a big glass of Water and sip all day long! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

momto3girls, I just went from DFW to Las Vegas and back through Phoenix right after Christmas and did not trigger the detector, and besides my staples I have hardware in my neck and arm from previous surgeries after a car accident! Maybe the scanners were set extra sensitive that day or something. But, they did take my greek yogurt out my bag because I did not realize it counted as a liquid! They pulled me to the side and I had to throw it away! But did make it through with nuts and beef jerky and peanut butter packets !

    5 Confessions (Join In)

I'm four months out and I confess: 1. That I love my sleeve and I love being down 4 sizes! 2. That I have been very moody at times with my hubby and kids, and then it makes me mad when they look at me like I'm crazy! 3. That I drink coffee on the weekends! 4. That I do not exercise as much as I should. 5. That I'm obesessed with tracking in myfitnesspal and what the scale says! 6. That I know I talk about my food, what is healthy to eat, stalls, Water, Protein, too much with people who have not had surgery, i.e. friends, family and at work and I have to tell myslef to just stop! 7. That when we are out to eat and I look at what other people have on their plates it grosses me out! 8. That this is the best thing I have ever done for myself!
  10. I'm 4 months out with the sleeve and I thought Dr. Kim's staff really kept me on track and I know in my folder it had all my steps lined out with appointments and dates! I had 6 months worth of nutrition classes for my insurance, the sleep study, cardiac there in the office, and the EGD I think a week or 2 before my surgery. They told me the steps I needed to take on the list but I think I had to call and schedule all the appointments. Dr. Kim is a wonderful surgeon, totally top-notch and his staff is great! September Was Your Progress?

Cece611, I was sleeved the exact same day as you on 9/14 and I am also in a stall, ugh! We just have to hang in there and let our bodies catch up and then it will keep dropping! I hit right at 50 and then nothing now for almost 2 weeks! Evidently, this is completely normal and we just have to be patient

    Has your mind caught up?

I have the same problem, our mind is a crazy thing! I'm in a M/L top and 12 bottoms 4 months out and I still pick up clothes that are too big! I also just cleaned out my closet this weekend again and made a big pile of everything that was 2 or 3 sizes too big, and my hubby walked in and asked if seeing that big pile made me happy and I actually had to tell him no it made me sad! And I have no idea why, if it was the fact that was a whole wardrobe on the floor or what because I really do love shopping for smaller sizes and trying on things that fit! I'm telling you, our brains play funny tricks on us! Hang in there 68 lbs is awesome!

    Shortness=slower weight loss?

I think even though we are shorter we seen to right on target! It all depends on how much we have to lose. I started at 225 and I'm 5'3, 3 1/2 months later I'm down exactly 50 at 175, and I've gone from an 18/20 to a 12/14. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Going on vacation post-op

I'm 3 1/2 months out and just went to Vegas for 4 days. I packed Protein shakes, Isopure, beef Jerky, nuts and Peanut Butter packets with me and I was glad I did! All the walking we did, I could definitely tell when I needed a little piece of jerky. I split meals with my hubby and ate mostly protein and had some delicious grilled shrimp and fish. Drank lots of Water. Came back and had lost 2 lbs, but I'm really glad I always had my protein Snacks with me! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Things I LOVE about my sleeve!

Thank you suepeeps for this thread! There are so many things I love! I'm 3 1/2 months out and down 4 sizes and right at 50 lbs! I love: 1. That I'm not concerned about food or what my next meal will be! (Other than all the planning I do to make sure I have the right food with me) 2. The money that I am now saving on eating out (hubby and I split a lot or I just have lots of leftovers) 3. Shopping in the regular size clothing in a store!!! The first time it felt like someone was going to kick me out, but then the clothes fit! 4. Crossing my legs 5. Now, instead of running from the camera, I hand it to my hubby and tell him to take the pic of me and the kids! 6. Stopping eating when I am full, and no desire for the sugar I used to eat! 7. More energy! Love my sleeve!

GOOD fast food choices ?! :)

I also keep Snacks in my desk, 2oz cans of tuna, almonds, turkey Jerky, Protein bars, but if I have to get fast food Wendy's chili is not bad. The small is a cup and I only can eat half of it. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Jeans?

Doxieville, I'm with you sister! Mine is gone as well and just like you I have 40 more lbs to lose and am wondering what will be left! LOL. I also have already bought underwear twice and am not having a problem with them fitting everywhere else, but they still slide down my behind! Now there is a problem hard to fix in public when it happens! I'm also in Texas and I can just see us women carrying the padding around with us and then saying, "I'll be right back, I have to go to the restroom and put my butt on!" LOLOLOL. Seriously, I just bout my first pair of Miss Me jeans yesterday and they helped because like you said they had pockets and buttons.
  21. I am 3 months post op and loving my restriction. My nutritionist did not stress the type of diet that you mentioned! I have found that to get all my Protein in and keep my body running I eat it first every time, then get my fruits or veggies in! I put carbs or starches in last and really have no desire or room for them. I try to make people understand when they say, "oh you can't eat that" that I can eat anything I want, but if I'm going to be full after 3 oz than it better be protein! Sent from my iPhone using VST

About 3 Months Out, Down 70 Lbs.

Great job! You look wonderful! I also love my sleeve, I'm 3 months out down 3 sizes and 44 lbs. my hubby is a football coach and I was giving him all the food I wasn't eating at first and he was like, "please quit making me eat all the food you can't!" Lol. Now when we go out to eat, we order 1 meal and I take a quarter or so of it! As a consequence since cooking healthier, both my kids and hubby are benefiting too! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Slowly losing

I agree with doxieville's comment on calories. I'm 3 months out today and have lost 43 lbs. I stay around 800 calories, low carb, high protein but I have found that if I'm in a stall if I actually up my calories it helps. We also have to give our bodies a chance to keep up! Just be patient and keep putting the right things in and drinking all your fluids! I always have to tell myself, that I did not put the weight on in 3 months or 6 months so just be patient and it will come off!
